Photopass Superthread!

That's a huge bummer. When we've gone, we've gone for 4-5 days. $160-$200 is not a thing that's going to happen. And it's a tremendous loss for us - last time we were there, we got home with 420 pix in our PP+ account. By the time I was done editing, there were more than 1400. But I just don't see paying $40 a day for it.

Between all these recent changes and the fact that we've only ever done WDW PP+/MM, I am not sure what to expect. We were lucky enough to get in on the PP pre-order before it was discontinued. We have the CD/voucher packed and our trip is in 1 week. Can anyone walk me through what I can expect? This is my understanding, not sure if it's right: we go to one of the locations to get our card/lanyard, have photos taken for 5 days, collect dining and ride photos on our card, get home and add borders and download all. Or is that all different now and it's all through the app? I know I've read our voucher will still be honored, but I'm just unclear what I am getting with it? Anyone planning to use old voucher in the next week before we arrive? I'd love to hear first-hand experiences. Thanks!

So do they still give you the free regular photopass card for your pics? I would be willing to get magic shots just for that and have them take other pics with my camera or phone

The process will still be the same.

We're off in a few hours. Tomorrow morning we have reservations at Plaza Innat 8:40 AM. Posts I've read indicate that we can turn in the PhotoPass+ voucher and get the lanyard, with, I suspect, a photo pass card of some kind.

I will be visiting in September and the new photopass product is a huge disappointment for me. I sent what I believe is a respectful email to Disney (I will include it at bottom) and i will share any response I receive. I hope i wasn't wrong in any of my facts as I no longer have the old photopass to look at for prices.

"Hello, I am writing to you regarding your new photopass product. My family will be coming to disneyland in september for 5 days at the parks and we are very excited. This will be our first trip to disneyland, we have been to disneyworld 3 times and have loved it every time. One of our favorite things at the parks in florida is the memory maker product. Up until recently disneyland had a similar product in photopass where we could pay (I believe it was 100 dollars, but not exactly sure) for a pass that would be good for the duration of our trip. However now that product has been removed and replaced with the 1 day photopass for 39.99. This represents a great option for families that are only visiting for 1 or 2 days, however for anyone else it represents a significant decrease in value. I feel as though I am being punished for visiting the parks for longer than 2 days. I understand prices do go up and I am fine with that, however for our 5 day trip this represents a cost of 200$, a 100% increase! Are there any plans to provide an alternative for guests staying longer than 2 days, something similar to your park tickets where each day added is at a reduced cost. Right now this feels very much like a slap to the face of loyal long staying guests. I look forward to your reply."

I have the prepaid voucher too but am not going until the summer. Would love to hear how it worked for you when you get back!

your understanding is correct too, at least that's how it worked for us in 2014. I guess youll see what changes, hopefully nothing.

Something to be aware of (may not need to panic yet). I got the email that some of my recent photopass photos were about to expire. I knew this already, these are the Photopass Plus photos from my trip in early January that I already edited and got the CD for. But I clicked through the link to see what happens, and it led me to sign into my Disneyland account and to manually add all my photopass card numbers. I was able to load the number from my December card and my Annual pass. No pictures showed up for those cards, but I didn't expect them to because they had already expired. But when I entered my photopass plus card's number (PPPD.....), the one that has unexpired photos on it, it said the card had an invalid number and couldn't be used.

I'm not personally planning on calling Disney to find out why it's invalid, because I've already got the CDs of the pics on these cards, but I wanted to warn you guys that are about to use the older photopass plus that there may be an issue later.

Just checked, and the site also wouldn't load an EVNT code from my dining pictures. It may very well be because these codes were already used and "purchases" made from them that they are not usable anymore. We were warned that projects would be lost during the transfer, but it still seems odd the numbers can't even be added to the accounts page.

I'm going tomorrow. I decided I'm going to pull the trigger and upgrade my Deluxe AP to signature just so I can have the photos. I looked at the website last night and it said it takes 24 hours to link up your account. So, if I upgrade at the ticket booth in the morning should I get a PhotoPass card and then add them to my account later? So confusing!

I can't speak about your experience, but I had a similar issue in Dec. My PP # from Goofy's Kitchen (an EVNT one) didn't work on the AP PP site (said it was invalid). This was before the recent change, so I tried it on the regular (old) PP site & it worked fine. I just sent an email to the help desk & it was fixed right away.

So...if there's a problem, just email them. The numbers haven't changed (because it's on our AP card). It's just a fluke in the system that can be corrected internally.

Yes...this is what I did. Also, take a photo of all of the ride photos you take or have the CM at the photo kiosk write the # down for you. You add the photo # on the screen in order to add the ride photos to your account.

Loved your email to Disney. Mine was similar. Hopefully more will be sent. I feel the same way about being punished for visiting more than 3 days.

I said something very similar about them doing a real number on people wanting to visit DLR a week at a time. We are starting to feel like they don't want us there. (Between that and the 5 day ticket limit).

I had issues adding my Dining PP pictures to my Signature AP PP in November. I had to send a msg with the codes, they found the pictures and added them within a few days.

You probably don't need to get a PP card, the photographers can just scan your AP. It can take up to 24 hours for the pictures to then show up on your AP.

I still don't understand what $39 gets. It appears to be all of your photos for the day, download to their site for 45 days? Or can I download them to my computer and save them forever? I didn't see a price or an option to by a CD. I have never used photopass, any help would be appreciated :-)

Your $39 gets you every picture you have taken in the parks that day. For the next 45 days you can access those photos online to edit them, add boards, etc. At any point up to the end of those 45 days you can download you pictures (and a limited release) to your computer. Once you do that you can do whatever you want with them - order prints at Walmart, a photobook from Shutterfly, a canvas print from Photobucket, Xmas cards from Costco, etc.

Does that help?

so basically its a one day pp+ minus the character meal pics right? It does still come with ride photos?

Correction, it does NOT allow for the borders to be added.

Ride photos are included and you get the character meal photos added for download but you no longer get the free prints.
