Photopass poses - The cheesier the better!

Sherry, great pictures! The ones of you and your friend looking up at the hang gliders came out really good and I love the one with Stitch popping up out of the present. I've never seen that one before. Usually Stitch is just coming up out of the ground.

Thanks!:goodvibes I got the feeling that not everyone knew about the Stitch/Present picture. We were clued into it by one nice PP photographer at one location, and he told us to go to the DCA tree and ask the PP guys to do the present picture. We didn't see anyone else picking up the present box, so I don't think many folks knew about it! I thought this was a particularly festive bunch of pictures because they are nice and Christmasy and colorful - more so than the Halloween batch! As I said before, I will add some different ones (and some of the same) to my TR, so be sure to check over there!!

Sherry!! The one with Stitch coming out of the gift is soooooo cute! I love love love it! I love all yoru pictures! They're always sooo good!!!

Oh, and I meant to say, Lavender Peach, that the PP photographers never seem to know exactly how to position people for the Soarin' shots. We saw them do this with other folks and then with us. They want us to point up to the sky, which is fine, but sometimes they get us in awkward positions or have us facing each other and pointing up or looking at the camera and pointing and it just looks wrong when the picture comes out. The best way to pose for that type of character enhancement picture is to actually point and/or look up to the sky - not look at each other or face each other or look at the camera. Because when we are looking at each other or at the camera and pointing, we never seem to be pointing at the right thing! I posted the better ones here because I thought our other poses for the Soarin' shots looked stupid! Maybe I will post the stupid ones on the TR!

Thank you!:goodvibes You know I am a fan of your work too, Courtney!:grouphug: Yes, it seems that, unless some other lurking DIS'ers start posting their DLR holiday pictures here to show their Stitch pictures, the Stitch popping out of the present is not common. I don't know why the photographers don't tell more people about it. We wouldn't have known if we hadn't been tipped off, and we had to ask the guy to do it. But I didn't see anyone else doing it.

Hey, I love that one of you guys with Stitch and his ice cream mouth!! That's great! I didn't know they had that, or I would have asked for it! Darn! Those sneaky PhotoPass people never let everyone in on the selection they have!

See, you guys are posing the 'right way' in your Soarin' photo. I swear, the photographers we had didn't know how to pose people to make it look right.

Judy is right - I am glad that I (and you, as well as many others here) got lots of photos in front of the Golden Gate Bridge since it's coming down soon! It will be weird to not see it there anymore.

Sherry, great pix! :goodvibes Looks like you guys had a fun trip! I bummed out that I didn't know about the Stitch/present picture. We took pictures holding the present by the tree but the PP photog didn't mention Stitch. Once I buy that CD I think I can copy in Stitch from another photo though. It's worth a try.

Thank you, Dizneydaz!!:goodvibes I take that as a high compliment coming from a PhotoPass guru such as yourself!!:goodvibes It was a fun time. And as I said, I will post more PP pictures over in the TR thread, and maybe a couple of different ones here a bit later.

Yes, blame those sneaky PP photographers who didn't let anyone know about Stitch in the present. The funny thing is, they had you holding the present, so why didn't they do the Stitch overlay in it? I wonder if it was a technical glitch of some kind, like with my Captain Hook/dueling picture. As you said, you can always try to copy Stitch and put him in your present and see what happens. It is worth a try. Once we were given the tip and told to go the DCA tree, I specifically asked the PP guy by that tree, "I hear you have a picture where we are holding a present and Stitch pops out? Another photographer told us to ask you." And he nodded and shoved the present at us. But we didn't see anyone else at the tree even holding the present, almost like the PP people were keeping it low key! Maybe they have a lot of technical problems with that image.

Oh, and I should point out that my nighttime pictures in front of IASW Holiday not only had to wait until the person with the giant balloon in line moved out of the way (the PP guy said they were blocking the shot), but one of the other folks waiting to have their picture taken too asked our photographer why DLR didn't have him set up in a better location so he could get a vantage point without all of those people in line so close up in the picture. You see how many folks there are in the line behind me, and because they are all level with us, they are right there in our photos. It is very cluttered-looking. So the person waiting asked why the PP folks couldn't take a pictures from a slightly higher-up location like a platform or one where the people in line weren't so obvious. Being right in front of the line kind of takes away form the beauty of the IASW Holiday exterior. The PP guy said in a vague way that "Disney has a bit of a problem with PhotoPass, and they don't always feel we should be at the spots where we want to take pictures, but they want us to be at other places that aren't as great for different reasons...and sometimes we don't have the best picture-taking angles." He also said that they (DLR, I guess?) didn't really want anyone (PP people) out at the IASW Holiday location (not sure why), and the previous evening they hadn't sent any photographers out there at all, even though lots of guests want their pictures taken in front of the beautiful IASW facade. So I am not sure what's up with that, and why "they" wouldn't want the PP people at the IASW Holiday location - maybe because it IS such a congested, crowded area? In any case, our guy was out there, trying to do the best he could, hundreds of people, giant balloons and all.:rotfl2:

Thanks Sherry and Judy. We were so excited that they came out good. It was kind of weird looking at something that wasn't there. But end result came out great. And I agree with you I already have them framed and up on the wall because bridge and the sun won't be there much longer. I have a couple others we had taken in recent years over at the castle by the wishing well that came out nicely I will find them and post them for you guys they came out awesome. Again I love all the pictures they are so good.

Here are few of us at Snow Whites wishing well these are two our favorites

I love the wishing well ones.:cheer2: Looks like I know a few more to get this month. Just when I think I've gotten them all, new ones show up. Thanks for sharing daisy2!

(of course mine won't be romantic with just DD and me, or DD alone, but it should still be cute! )

I already posted the best ones from my latest PhotoPass batch, but here are more:

I was so mad, because JUST as I got up to the Castle and found the PhotoPass guy, at that very moment, the sparkly lights in the icicles turned off. You know how they go on and off through the evening, and the icicles light up and glow, then go off, then light up, then go off? Well, what great timing. I wanted a shot with the icicles glowing, and instead I got this....Pretty, but not what I wanted. IN fact, the Castle kind of fades into the night and the crowds of people.

Oh my gosh Sherry, thank you for letting me know that these photos were up, they are so awesome, you got some super cute ones, I love them all, I really love the present one with Stitch popping out, how cool is that. Your pictures always look like so much fun, hopefully someday I will get there at the Holiday's, it just looks amazing. :goodvibes

You're welcome - and thank you!!:goodvibes I figured you would want to know because this thread tends to lie dormant for chunks of time, and disappears into the murky depths of the board (wish we could get into Sticky-land). So when someone finally does post, you may not be looking for it. And Daisy had also posted her cool pictures, too, by the Wishing Well and such, which can give you an idea of another photo op when you get to DLR later this year! (By the way, I never saw any PP people by the Well in either October or December, so they must only go there from time to time.) Even though I hate hot weather, now that I have had these shots taken during Halloweentime and Christmastime, I would be curious to see what PhotoPass pictures I could get during the summer or during other holiday periods, like Valentine's Day or Easter, etc. I really prefer the holiday ones out of the ones I have done, just because they are more colorful and peppy. And I am very glad I got Stitch and the present, because in December they may not be offering that choice again. You never know with sneaky Disney!

Remember, you got those great Nemo-inspired shots that we all covet, in the sub and with the seagull, etc.!! So you have a rare treasure in those! You will get to DLR for the holidays. You have to! It's so beautiful and magical during that time. You have to see it at least once!!!:goodvibes And they probably will have added some new PhotoPass enhancements by then, so something to look forward to!

I finally have some to show off! Now, I didn't buy the cd, so I picture screened the pics and pasted them together in photoshop, so they are definitely not good quality, but here we go!

While we were all posting our recent PhotoPass additions to this thread - holiday and otherwise - I was thinking to myself that any picture thread just isn't the same without contributions from Jasmine! And here you are! So even if you haven't gotten a lot of PhotoPass pictures taken, it is good to see you pop in here from time to time!:goodvibes

Your pictures are really cute, and I looked for a PP person over in that section of DCA, but didn't see any when I passed through. I actually don't think the quality is too bad, though! As it is, not ALL of the PP photographers can take good pictures, and some of theirs come out too dark, too light, too distant or blurry (you can see all of those examples in my PhotoPass holiday pictures that I posted last week!!:rotfl2: ). Thank goodness we have the Edit feature to use in this day and age!!! I think my Stitch-coming-out-of-the-Christmas-present picture was the clearest, brightest one!

I love the picture of Shyboy and the car alone. TOOOOOOOOOOO funny!:rotfl2: You guys are a hoot!!

Awww :) Thanks Sherry! we really didn't have enough time to keep stopping at photopass spots and take any pictures and when we did, the picture they took with my camera was more than sufficient. I agree with you on the pictures that they take. If you notice the one with Eric hugging Lightning McQueen, the colors are completely blown out by the flash. I JUST learned a trick from my photography teacher this semester (we just started last week). He said if you put a napkin over the flash, it diffuses it (he even said using two would work too!). I reallllly wanna try it. Almost all of your pictures turned out fantastic!

Thanks!:goodvibes Except those darn PP photographers keep snapping me when my eyes are closed or in the process of closing. Somehow, we are not getting our timing right, and I keep blinking at the moment they are snapping!

Hmmm...that napkin trick sounds interesting to diffuse the flash. I love hearing about all those little inside photography tricks. It could be something you would never think of using or doing that makes a photo a undred times better. Yes, I bet that the PP photographers could all take much more than sufficient pictures with your camera - since we have all seen what your camera can do! Then again, it's your natural abilities and your photographer's eye that counts for at least 50% of why your photos come out so great. Probably more like 70%! The equipment you use is the other important part of it.

It seems to me that I recall reading some info about PhotoPass on some website. Maybe it was www.Stitchkingdom.com? Not sure. In any case, I think the PP photographers use their own cameras, not cameras issued by Disney. I could be wrong, but I think that's what I read. And I know I read that not all of the PP photographers are professionals. Some of them may be, but others are photography students and some are not even students. Some may just have an interest in photography! So really, almost anyone could get out there and start snapping!!! Some of them probably get cameras that are not as great as others and if you combine that with someone who is just kind of learning to take a decent picture and doesn't really know a lot of the tricks, then you come out with the blurry, the whitewashed, the overly dark, the poorly framed, the too-far-away shots, etc.

Even if some of the shots don't come out great (at least in the ones I take), I still think the whole PhotoPass process of taking pictures is a lot of fun, and as I said before, if it gets my uptight friends to loosen up and act silly and free, then it's worth it - because they won't act that way if I pull out a camera and ask them to. But they will do it for the 'official' PP photographers! I wish we could get this thread moved into Sticky status. It would be so much easier for newer people who are taking PP pictures to see the thread and post them on here. Otherwise, it fades into the archives and a lot of new PhotoPass people don't even know it exists!
