Have never got the photo pass before because I never thought we would get our moneys worth. Now my brother and family are coming for first time I am guessing they will want a lot of photos. So when I ready about Photopass Plus where you get ride photos aswell as the characters before some meals I thought this sounded good. Still alot of money though so I wondered if people could share their experiences and let me know if you think its worth it.

How do you actually get the CD's after you have had all your photos taken.
Where do you print them off? Assume its at any place like Boots.

We are going in July/August so parks are busier, did you find you spent alot of time waiting for photographers?

Any other info you could share would be great.

This is our 10th trip but now I have newbies coming I realise there is still alot I don't know!

Personally, I would say that Photopass + is only worth it if you plan lots of character/onsite meals. Not sure of the exact attractions where PP+ is now offered but I wouldn't pay the extra for a few ride photos (although it depends how many attractions it's now available at).

As far as printing the picutres, once you get your CD, you will get a release authorisation with it which will allow you to get photos printed at places like Boots, Tescos Photo and online places like Photobox.

ETA: Just found a list of attractions and dining locations where Photopass+ can be used. I guess if you are planning many of the following, then it might be worth the extra, otherwise I would just opt for the standard Photopass CD

Walt Disney World Participating Attractions:
*Space Mountain
*Splash Mountain
*Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin
*The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
*Rock n Roller Coaster
*Expedition Everest
*Dinosaur
*Test Track

Walt Disney World Participating Character Dining Locations:
*1900 Park Fare
*Ohana (Breakfast only)
*Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show
*Chef Mickeys
*Cinderellas Royal Table
*Tusker House Restaurant
*Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
*Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

The photopass+ is on offer for $149 now, which means it's only $30 more than the regular one, so if they're going to be wanting lots of photos I'd say it's worth it. I think it worked out at about £100 when we ordered ours a few weeks ago, which really isn't a bad price :)

We have done Photopass+ twice now as we usually have one character breakfast where there is a photo package on offer. The photo packages are $30 each.

We have also bought a few ride photos now DD is tall enough for the big rides.

This makes it a value for us :thumbsup2

We have only done it once but think it is well worth it. We will do it again every trip now.

It was lovely to come home and see photos we hadn't seen of our holiday.

We did eat at a lot of the meals though where the photo is offered. The photo is added to your card and you get the package which was $27.99 which we thought was quiet good. 5 of them almost pays for the card.

You only get one photo pass plus card but you can add photos from standard photo pass cards to them before you leave. Just a thought as you said you were 2 families it means you can still collect photos if you split up.

Take a photo of the back because if you lose the card they can find your already taken photos and transfer them to a new card. We lost ours so glad we did this. I read on here to do it.

We did it last year - no character meals for us last year, but it was still worth it because we always buy about 3-4 ride photos and would normally buy the regular photopass CD in any event. So for the difference in cost from what we would have paid for regular PP adding what we knew we would buy, it was a no brainer for us even without character meals. We came home with around 450 photos before adding borders and over 100 ride photos. It was definitely worth it for us.

we did photopass and photopass+ and each time it was worth every penny

The photopass+ gets you the restaurants photos (participating restaurants) and also the print (one large 3 smaller ones) and that's really nice because it sometimes feels sad to say no when you're shown the picture package halfway through the meal. Now you don't have to wonder, you get it and it's yours to keep.

Ride photos are the same. Even if you don't need them or if you don't usually order them (because it's so expensive) you now have the opportunity to get them for a very decent price. You break even with only 2 ride photos (for the $30 difference between photopass and photopass+)

so if you do rides, and like to make faces when the picture is taken, then it's a very good value :)
if you do lots of character restaurants or a special dining event (spirit of aloha, for example) then it's also worth it.

we'll do photopass+ again for our next trip

But my advice would be that, even if you go for PP+, do not solely rely on photographers. They are not professional photographers, just CMs, and sometimes they just ... fail ... I have many blurry pictures and pictures I could have shot better with a crappy camera.
Always try to use your own camera as a backup (2 times the same picture is better than one time a failed picture). and remember that CMs will happily take your camera and make a picture of you and your family.

I wholeheartedly agree with this advice. We have some great Photopass pictures but some even better pictures taken by the Photopass CMs with my own camera. Sometimes they just catch somebody with their eyes closed or looking in the worng direction or squinting and they don't usually check the pictures so having a couple taken with your own camera just adds an extra 'back up'.

Just wondering, what do you actually get in the restaurant photo package?

They all come in a card mount with a large 6x8 photo then you get 4 6x4 photos the same.

The mount and some other extras such as a group character shoot vary by location.

Ohh that's better than I thought, I thought it was a photo and that was it lol. We're only doing Ohana breakfast so will be nice to have ^_^

this the package you get (as of november 2012) at Ohana's breakfast (only 2 of the 3 smaller prints shown on the picture)
You will also find a sort of receipt inside the folder/mount with a photopass card number on it. You might need to add that number to your photopass account in order to add the digital version of the photographs to your account.

If I already have photo pass "pre ordered" can I upgrade to phot pass plus? When I got it I didn't see any info about the pp+ so I just got the regular one.. And with two character meals planned I think this would be a good idea[ .

Yes you can. Just email them using the contact page from the website.
