I'm looking at purchasing software to play with my digital photos and also do some disign, scrapbook pages etc. I have some knowledge with computers but not that great. Which of these two softwares do you professionals recommend?

I really don't know anything about Photoimpact...but I have both photoshop and photoshop elements. If you are just starting out with digital design...I would suggest getting photoshop elements as it is a lot more user friendly than photoshop. I also know there are a lot of online video tutorials for photoshop that you can find on youtube and using google. You might try to see what tutorial help there is for photoimpact online. That might help you decide between the two.

Not sure what's out there for support of PI but there's an entire forum, www.elementsvillage.com, for PSE. As Dolly recommends I'd check out how much is out there for PI before purchasing. There's a lot out there for PSE, especially in the areas of photo enhancement and scrapbooking. I'd also chack PI's add-in capability. PSE allows the addition of textures, filters and actions that can add a lot of functionality to the program.

I agree. Photoshop Elements 7 is what I have used for all my DISigns and it, so far, has allowed me to do everything I wanted to do!! Lots of tutorials available and elementsvillage.com has fantastic forums for answers to any questions that come up!

I also know nothing about Photo Impact but PSE7 is all you need, in my opinion!!

guess Dom13 and I were recommending elementsvillage at the same time!!

I used PhotoImpact Pro b4 and its not that hard to use, but you cant find a lot of support for it. I'm not talented in that area and didnt want to spend the money for PS if I sucked at it. I have moved so much lately too that I lost the disks, so I am sticking w/ Paint.Net for now until i get better.

Thanks fellow disers for the advice. Photoshop it is!! Hopefully I will get the hang of it and repay you all with some disigns of my own.:thumbsup2
