Today, I went searching for a Australian Battlefield site!!!

The Eureka Stockade was fought in a town called Ballarat, approx 130 km away from my home. It was fought over mining licenses and police corruption and "enforcement" of the law. About 22 miners and 6 police died in the battle. (Ref: http://www.ballarat.com/eurekastockade.htm)

I also went to the Victorian Goldfield attraction of Sovereign Hill.

This man was the tour guide for the group with him....He was speaking Chinese (Cantonese) and telling the group about gold mining in the 1800's.

Lola Montez was the headline act at the local Hotel...

And she was accused of having "illicit relationships" with a number of prominent men around the town. Here she is protesting her innocence.

Pail and Shovel in Sand

No points claimed (yet). Hoping for a picture of the expected Pail (or bucket; not pan) and Shovel (or Spade, not a real shovel) in Sand (golden not Gold infested) - even if I have to open my son's sandpit and take a picture of the bucket and space already there!
