As stated from the Museums web page:
"The International Spy Museum is the first and only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage and the only one in the world to provide a global perspective on this all-but-invisible profession. It features the largest collection of international spy-related artifacts ever placed on public display. The stories of individual spies, told through film, interactives, and state-of-the-art exhibits, provide a dynamic context to foster an understanding of espionage and its impact on current and historic events. In addition to the Museum, the Complex includes a Museum Store, private dining and event facilities, and two restaurants: Zola and Spy City Cafe."

The following two are one entry but you can't have one without the other...

First: Fords Theatre - Washington, DC - The place of President Abraham Lincoln's Assassination
IMG_9362.jpg

As stated on Fords Theatre Web Site:
"The site of the April 14, 1865, assassination of President Lincoln, Ford’s Theatre holds a unique place in United States history. The theatre has enthralled millions of visitors since its reopening in 1968, and it is one of the most visited sites in the nation’s capital.

Ford’s Theatre’s mission is to celebrate the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and to explore the American experience through theatre and education. The Ford’s Theatre Society works to present the Theatre’s nearly one million visitors each year with a high quality historic and cultural experience. Its work is what makes this vibrant historic site an important tool for promoting the ideals of leadership, humanity and wisdom espoused by Abraham Lincoln."

Second: The House Where Licoln Died - Washington, DC
IMG_9359.jpg

Located at 516 Tenth Street, NW, immediately across the street from Fords Theatre, stands a three story brick row house to which Abraham Lincoln was carried after he was shot and where he eventually died.

Roger (GoofyontheHighSeas) and Don (dcg013) - amazing work, as always! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

mer1015, enjoying seeing your pics around Washington DC! :goodvibes

PrincessinOz, I won't be able to take your BBQ shack pic - it was more meant as a hole in the wall type place that sells greasy food and has interesting signage, etc. (I know sometimes the cultural meaning may get lost a bit when we're living on different continents!) A stadium is more meant as a stadium that holds thousands of people and has visual interest as opposed to a local playing field, but if you really don't have baseball stadiums in Australia, then I would accept a football or soccer stadium as long as it's a professional or semi professional place, etc. And sorry, can't accept a football in flight in place of baseball. It wouldn't be fair. And doggy bag - again, I meant it more as the type of thing you get when you don't finish your dinner at a restaurant, but because it technically is a doggy bag, I will accept the pic of the doo doo doggy bags. :rotfl2:

Hope that clears up some of my thinking on types of shots that are acceptable.

No problems with the BBQ shack. That one was a definitly "lost in translation thing". I'll have to look out for something like that in Oz.

Stadiums - we have heaps of...The biggest one in Melbourne is the Melbourne Cricket Ground with a capacity of 100,000. We play cricket and Aussie Rules there. We have also have Tennis Park, which is where the Australian Open is played at. I'll head out and take some shots over the next 2 months if I can post these in place of a baseball stadium. Thank you.

And I did know what you meant for a doggy bag. It was just too good an opportunity not to have a bit of fun (this time with the translation on my foot)! If you prefer a proper doggy bag, I can wait for an opportunity for that as well.

First entry....

Last Day of School

Dd broke her arm on the last day of kindergarten, so instead of graduation she went to the hospital. This is the teddy the hospital gave her for being so brave, and her report card.

York Hospital? Do you live in York? I am in Dover ... only a few miles north of York.

I got quite a few this weekend during our family camping trip to Gettysburg!

Battlefield Site** - View from the Virginia Monument on Seminary Ridge at Gettysburg. Nearly 12,000 Confederate soldiers began a long march toward the Union line through this field on July 3, 1863.

Berries - These were delicious! My family and I had nearly devoured them before I could get a picture!

Camp site - Our campsite at Drummer Boy Campground, Gettysburg, PA

Costumed interpreter** - This is "JT". He gave us his tour of the Soldier's National Cemetery.

Live Entertainment* - The 105th Wildcat Regimental Band playing at the Gettysburg Festival this past weekend. We listened to them performing at Gettysburg College early in the day and later in the evening we caught them performing at the Pennsylvania Monument. My husband's civil war relative was Lt. Col. of the 105th PA Infantry during the Gettysburg campaign. The reenacting group we were involved with (before kids, and hope to go back to in a few years :)) was the 105th PA, so we kind of have an affinity for the Wildcat Regimental Band. It was a pleasant surprise to hear them not once, but twice in the same day!

Helicopter (from inside**) - There was apparently an Aryan Nations rally going on up the street from the cemetery. This helicopter kept circling around during our visit back in time with "JT". It was a little annoying.

Celebration of Independence (Uncle Sam**) - Hey, the windsock I hang at my campsite has Uncle Sam!

Icon* - I think this might be an icon...at various places all along Route 30/The Lincoln Highway, are these gas pumps decorated to represent the region they're in. It's fun spotting them - I think they're "iconic".

I'll post more later!

So is anyone else having trouble finding a general store sign? I have been to 9 differnt cities and still cant find one! I think it should be worth extra points since its so hard

When I took my dog outside yesterday morning, I saw this chipmunk just walking around my driveway. I ran inside to get my camera and he was still there.

This sounds like a lot of fun! We recently bought our camera before our trip to Europe and it has been lying dormant in its case since our return. I'm inspired now to go out and take some photos! Some may be a bit tricky to photograph here in Oz but will try to be creative...

Here are some photos taken recently.
