Havoc, what are you using? I just picked up an old Tokina RMC 17 f3.5 that's pretty sharp at f5.6 and smaller. I got a PK mount but it was made in A mount also. I won it on Ebay for $150 shipped in great cond. they usually sell around $180-$200.

I'm using the Minolta 17-35/2.8-4. It's not a horrible lens. Was around $300. But it's definitely softer than I would like. I realized I'd over the Zeiss 16-35, but I'm not ready to spend $1500+ on an ultrawide, which I still don't really use that often.

I was working in Manhattan today, and decided to bring my camera with just one lens to do some shooting. I figured ultrawide would be fun, but now I'm thinking I would have gotten better results simply bringing a better lens.

After some work in post, I kind of like this one:

Fractal, I think they turned out great. I get nervous taking stage shots also. Usually fumbling lenses too. I think if I shot a good bit of that type, I would buy a 6d or d610 just for the AF speed.

I really like the one with overhead stage lights. I'm a huge fan of B&W. :thumbsup2

Thanks Harry,

Here are a few more B&W's from the recital. Some of them I skipped NR just because I like the grain, others I didn't.

Havoc,

I love this shot! It takes me into that cobblestone alley, drawing me towards the church...

Harry,

I like the results from the 28-70. Are you happy with the lens?

Chris

Hey Chris, I have no issues with the 28-70 except the speed. It's fine in daylight.

The FQ view was shot with the Zeiss 55 which I have found now to be extremely sharp even open. Focus is hard to nail at 1.8 sometimes. It's so narrow DOF on FF.

Great shots Mike! You're making the rest of us look bad!

Noway man, all you guys are posting some excellent shots as well :thumbsup2

Ill tel you what though, I am getting burnt out of waking up at 4am on a Saturday to get these sunrise shots so it might be awhile before you see more after this batch :rotfl:
