Havoc, I know I probably shouldn't post this here but I have a shot I just snapped. I shoot RAW+JPEG now with the Fuji. This is a JPEG transferred to my IPad from the wireless connection on the XE2. It's an untouched JPEG. This thing looks fantastic!

I just started a butt roast and I can't wait to eat!

So of all places, you decide to come hang out with us Sony misfits??
Why not go play with the popular kids at Canon and Nikon? Lol

Advice time, lol.

Narrowed down to these two lenses but now considering something wide also. Any recommendations? Considering the Rokinon 14mm fisheye again but would like something non fisheye for now.

Sigma 50mm f/1.4
Tamron 28-70

I was watching the Minolta 17-35 on eBay..... was considering getting what looked like a good couple for $300, but it sold. But should be able to find it in the low 300's. It gets mixed reviews. But truthfully, when I'm using that focal length, I'm relying on a stopped down aperture to keep things sharp with a huge DoF. So I don't necessarily need the best IQ in the world.

The widest lens you can find, especially in a zoom, is the Sigma 12-24. The newest version isn't cheap.

In the mid 300's, there is a Minolta 20/2.8. I think it gets good reviews. (Dyxum board has one for $320).

Ironically, I find super-wide options more limited in Sony fullframe than with APS-C.

I've decided I'm definitely going to want something wide/ultra-wide for my cruise vacation, but it's 7 months away so I have time.

Your lowest priority might actually be that 28-70. You'll have the 50, right dab in the middle of the range. And if you get something like the Minolta 17-35.... and you own a 70-300, right? So you'd be covered 17-35/50/70+

Ahhh - the Sigma 12-24. It can make Space Ship Earth look kind of small when used on a full frame. (A850). I've had it for several years and use it fairly frequently on aps-c too.

Yeah im find these wide lenses are pretty pricey and a little more than I want to spend right now. Looks like it might be the good ole fisheye for me again lol. But even that is $399. I wouldn't even mind a prime 16mm non fisheye

The Minolta 17-35 is around $300 so cheaper than the new fisheye.

You could also keep your current wide lens and use it in crop mode on the camera. Do that until you're ready to invest in something specifically full frame.
When using the camera in crop mode, you capture a 10mp image. So really, you can keep using your current wide angle lens, and resolution would be only slightly lower than your current A55. It's not the best solution, but it may be acceptable to you until you're ready to invest in a proper fullframe super wide angle.

I am actually camera and lens less right now, sort of. Just put up on Ebay my camera with Tamron lens on one listing and then my fisheye on another. Hoping I can get around $500 for camera and lens and then $200 for the fisheye. Sold my 35mm and 70-300 two weeks ago. So technically right now im an HTC One photographer ahaahaha, which the camera sucks

Now im kicking around the idea of getting something wide before I get one of the other two. I will use the heck out of the wide lens for sure but will I use it more than the Tamron 28-70. The 50mm F/1.4 is a given I think. Now its just having to justify what direction to go after.

I saw some reviews on the Minolta and it fair pretty average on Dyxum
