Photo Pass + your pictures W/effects ??

I searched but couldn't find this. I *think* I read that you can add your pictures to Photo Pass and Disney will edit and add special effects ~characters, music etc.. Is this true?? How does it work? Can you explain simply for a technically challenged Mom??? Thank you
