Photo Package Help Needed!

We just booked our first Disney cruise in 19 years!! Can’t wait to be aboard the Dream in January. For those who have purchased the photo packages before, do CM take candid shots at character M&Gs like they do with the Memory Maker in the parks? Several members of the family do not enjoy posing for more formal portraits and I just want some more information to determine which package is best for us. Thanks for your help!

They can and will, especially if you ask them to. I have plenty of candid shots on my drive.

Yes indeed...just ask! The character attendant will also be able to use your camera to take photos as well of character interactions. The photographers won't of course, but the attendants will.

The character attendants will take posed and candid shots with your camera. The photographer will also take some candid photos as well as posed.

Just to clarify, the CM that stands with the photographer (referred to above as character attendants) will take photos on your own device. The Shutters photographers themselves will only take photos on their camera.

Correct. But the Shutters folks will do candids if asked.

The photographer will do just posed as a standard, but you can ask for candids or hand off a phone/camera to the nice assisting CM and ask them nicely to snap away!

Not in my experience. As noted, the CM assisting the photographer will use your camera to take candid photos, but the photographer will only use his/her camera for whatever photos you want.

Now, if you're doing a pose that's different from what the photographer poses (so, technically not "posed"), he may use his camera, but you'll pay for it (as part of your photo package). He won't use your personal camera to take your picture.

Our onboard photographers did not take a single candid shot; we only received 2 photos per character we met with onboard. Paid $195 for a total of 18 photos. Got more in the terminal than we did on the ship. Very disappointed. FWIW, my friend had about 300 photos from her cruise, so YMMV
