Photo of ramp to board ship?

The problem is walking to the excursion, right? Is there some sort of taxi/pedicab that you could take instead?

I think the problem was walking from the ship to the area where they will board the bus for the excursion. It can be quite a hike for someone with stamina issues.---Kathy

Thanks everyone for all the input and information.

I am going to take a LOT of pictures of DH and his scooter and the obstacles we encounter. He's going to take my camera away I'm sure.... :lmao:

Not sure about a taxi/pedicab. Isn't the majority of this "10 min walk" on the wharf?

Still no word from DCL, but today we had a "DUH!" moment and realized he could bring forearm crutches and would probably be able to walk that far.

So if they say "no" to leaving a wheelchair on the bus, we still might be able to go. I wish I had a better idea of the acual distance this walk really is.

Oh and Kathy, thanks for offering to take pictures for us on the October 25th Wonder cruise, but we'll be on that cruise too! Hope to see you there!

I hope to see you too! I'll be there with Skye, so give us a "hello" if you see us ! Guess we should both take photos to post of the ramps. I've also never taken photos of the accessible public restrooms either and have been quite pleased with them. I guess it would be a good idea to share those photos too. Did you hear back from DCL? Are you able to do the excursion?---Kathy

DH will be renting an ECV and was asking what kind of ramp there is to board/disembark the ship. (Wonder)
I cant seem to find any information on this, or any photos of people boarding.
I am assuming the same ramp is used at all ports?

Dont worry about it Disney do everything they can for you, on one cruise we had to do a differant stop because of the hurricane, as the port was not expecting the Magic she was not in her usual spot, well the ramp didnt reach the dockside by about a foot in a power chair this was to much, the crew said would we wait a minute to see what they could do, this guy came with a drill and piece of wood and extended the ramp, after about 45 minutes off ship we went back and they had carpeted it so you couldnt even tell, that night there was a knock on our cabin door, a crew member gave us 2 champange glasses and a bottle of wine and a DCL corksrew for our inconvenience, what incovenience we only had to wait a few minutes, its things like this that make us realise what Disney does so much better than anyone else.

We got a call from Disney finally and they said we could use their manual chair IF no one needed it for an emergency. The excursion vendor agreed he could leave the manual chair on the bus. Lets hope we dont get a different answer when we get there.
DH took the call, so I didnt get to ask questions like,,, what if there is an emergency and he can't use it, will you refund the money for the excursion?
DH said if I came down to it, he'd get there no matter what. Stubborn.:rolleyes1
He also asked a lot of questions about the DCL transfers and using the scooter on the ship and they assure him it will be fine.
So the plan now is,, he is going to take the scooter, and an extra cane in case he needs to walk to the excursion. He doesnt want to take forearm crutches. Too much equipment he says.
We used to have to travel with so much stuff, he says he wants this trip to be as simple as possible.

Whew! There is more than one w/c available for emergencies onboard so unless there is an unusual circumstance, you'll have a chair available for the excursion. I'd ask at GS or the Shore Ex desk when you'll be able to pick it up so the scooter can just be left in your stateroom vs. trekking it to the shore ex meeting area. Don't know if you're aware but Don "Ducky" Williams will be on this cruise doing activities with guests and premiering his Villains artwork that will only be available on the Wonder. If you've never heard his presentation about how he became a Disney artist...be SURE to attend and bring your kleenex. I have never heard a more amazing story of perseverence in my life and he's a wonderful, gracious person. I hope I meet you onboard and I hope you have a great cruise!---Kathy
