photo cross stitch

has anyone tried one of these? I 'purchased' a kit from Jo-Ann Fabric. I just have to send them a photo and they will analyze it and make a cross stitch pattern to send me. It cost me $24 dollars just to have them analyze the photo and send me a piece of Aida cloth. I still have to go buy the thread. So really hoping these kits turn out well.

I haven't done the kit from JoAnn, but I am working on one of these projects right now.

I had taken a picture at Disneyland that I wanted done in the counted cross stitch. It was Sleeping Beauty's castle with the fireworks going off in the background.

I got in touch with a WONDERFUL woman that did the chart for me. The pattern alone is on 16 pages. There are over 300 colors, and the picture will be 14 x 14 when completed. It is stitched on 18 ct cloth.

I LOVE how it is turning out.

I also am working on one of these. I don't believe they sent fabric but rather a very detailed chart to work from. I've seen many of these as a picture framer and did notice they look better from a slight distance like 10 feet or so than up close. I just wish i were a faster stitcher.

I checked out that site. It says the patterns are for latchhook. will they still work for cross stich??
