Photo Book Shared!--"We go to Disney World in Two Minutes" -- a May 2014 PTR

Your dresses are fabulous and you have inspired me to make more dresses for my daughter! Our trip in 22 days! I was not going to make a Cinderella or rapunzel but I just might now. I am getting down to the wire though. Can you tell me what specific pattern you used for your Cinderella dress? I have found some patterns but they are not as nice as the one you made! Thank you.

Thank you! The Cinderella is the Sugarplum dress from FooFoo Threads on etsy. I used a 2T size top, but I think a size 4 in length for the skirt (based on measurements). For the hip parts, I used a little under a half a yard to cut circles. Folded, sewed (right sides together, leaving space to turn), gathered it, then sandwiched between skirt and bodice. The Sugarplum dress has a four sectioned over skirt which you wouldn't need to do, though I did. The hip parts are the whole length of the gathered side panels. Hope that helps!

Love the Cinderella dress! I think the romper is fabulous! I can't wait to see the beast one. It's nice to see some boy customs. It seems like the girls always get all the fun stuff.

Thank you! You're right, there is so little boy stuff!

I know we were talking over on my PTR about the 24 hour party. I happened upon some threads about it, so when I stumbled upon this last night I thought of you! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50987206&postcount=5 It's a link to the in-park brochure from last year's event! I thought it gave me a good idea as to what may or may not be open in the wee hours and the late ones!

Thank you for sharing!
I read that ppl didn't get the info until the brochures were passed out that day!
My parents and I are thinking maybe we'll try for rope drop but it's probably too early!!

We're going to try to hit up Rope Drop! If we can get up that is! I think it's working in our favor that the 23rd is our first full day at Disney! We shouldn't be too beat up yet!

Joining the party ;) I love all the outfits you've made! I am still a newbie to sewing, but I sure wanna try to someday make awesome dresses for my DDs.

Thank you! Glad to have you!

I'm fairly new, myself, just started in July 2013! Practice, practice, practice. :) Peasant dresses are especially easy and can be easily made into princess dresses! Check out Made for Mermaids on etsy for patterns or just ideas. princess:

30 days until we leave for Disney!!! & Belle Gown

I am SO overdue for an update and haven't accomplished much at home recently for the trip. I did reconstruct DD's Belle gown by remaking the bodice, shortening the skirt, and making an underskirt to fix the length since I went too short! :rotfl:

Other than that, I haven't done anything Disney related. This weekend we are headed home Saturday evening for Easter, but until then I need to be at sewing machine as much as I can!!

I promise to be back next week with more updates. I'm running out of time!!!!!

You did a fantastic job reconstructing her dress!!! I love how it turned out!

You're going to need to book a bounceback while you are there, so you can keep sewing when you come home.

Thank you! I'm working on a little Beast costume now, so when that's finished I'll share better pictures of the dress, too. :)

Haha! Well, I am hoping to run the Princess Half Marathon in 2015, so maybe I'll be making my own costume?! I should take advantage of the bounceback, though...hadn't thought of that!!

Belle needs a Beast!

Last night I finished up a Beast costume for my little nephew. Since he lives in Florida, I just really hope it fits! I started with an adult size XL yellow tshirt and followed a free tutorial on how to make a romper. I am amazed at how great this turned out:

Then, I found another free tutorial from Me Sew Crazy for making a baby boy button up shirt. Rather than make one from scratch (as the tutorial does), I started with one of DH's old dress shirts and cut it so I could utilize the preexisting buttons and plackets. I also reused the collar, though cut it down significantly in size. It's not perfect, but I love the way it turned out!!

Looking at these pictures, I need to adjust the tails to make them more even. That's a quick and easy fix!

The Beast has an ascot/white scarf that I will probably try to recreate. Plus, I need to finish the detailing on Belle's dress (contrasting ruffle on skirt and shoulder piece):

But for the most part, these projects are DONE!

Up next, I'll be making a giraffe print pillowcase dress and attempting a Minnie Mouse silhouette hand applique. I also purchased myself a pink tank top dress and I will pick up some pink organza and white fabric to make a simple overskirt to turn it into an Aurora dress (even though I'm brunette, DD insists I be Aurora). Finally, I need to make DH a Flynn Rider vest.

In other news...our Magic Bands shipped!! DD wants a purple bracelet, so I'll be painting it. I'll be sure to share!

I found your report a few days ago and am just now to the end. I really wanted to do my own PTR but I just don't have the time to commit to it this time around so I have been stalking out May trips (like mine) to follow along.

I wanted to say you are really a talented sewer! I have been sewing (simple things...) for about 10 years and I don't think I would even attempt the projects you have taken on. The Rapunzel dress and boys outfits are my favorites. If you don't do a TR I would at least love for you to come back here and post a few photos of the outfits in the parks. They are going to be sooo cute!

Can't wait to hear the rest of your plans! Its getting close now!

I love how your beast and belle turned out! Absolutly adorable! I can not wait to see action shots of all these outfits!
I really like how you used men's shirts to make the beast room per! Cute, cute, cute!

Great job on the Beast outfit!

Thank you! I've decided to add a few more details to spruce it up. Gold/yellow buttons, and yellow fabric panels on the lapels and perhaps the collar.

Thanks for joining in! I think May is such a wonderful time to go. We are missing Flower & Garden fest stuff, but I'm hoping most of the topiaries and what not will still be up. I'm not sure how that works!

Thank you so much; I really enjoy sewing. I bet you could do more difficult things--just have to go slow and read carefully! haha :)

I am on the fence about a full-blown TR. It's mostly the work during the vacation that scares me! I will definitely post pictures of DD and my nephew in these outfits (if my sister lets me...hopefully I won't have to blur his face b/c he is the cutest.baby.ever).

It is so close I need to be better about updating!

You are going to have quite the pair on your hands with Belle and the Beast! Love it!

Thanks! I'm so excited to see them together!!

Thank you! DH went through his closet and I'm going to repurpose a couple into dresses for DD, too. :)

I am SO excited about my current project: DD's Animal Kingdom dress. I love how it's turning out and wanted to share a sneak peak. I did machine/hand applique on the dress, and while it isn't perfect, it looks great in my humble opinion! Ok, so I'm really really proud of this! ::yes::

Super cute, right? :)

I have 4 sewing projects left and I REALLY need to finish by May 1

1. DH's Flynn Rider vest
2. Skirt to turn pink tank-top dress into an Aurora dress for me
3. Mickey-Minnie t-shirt upcycle dress for DD
4. Embellish store-bought white shorts with ruffles for DD (decided not to make from scratch!)

After that, it's time to start organizing and packing! This weekend I will hopefully get a bunch done and then I can start sharing some non-sewing updates. :)
