Photo Book Shared!--"We go to Disney World in Two Minutes" -- a May 2014 PTR

13 Days!​

I can't believe we start our drive to Orlando in just 13 days! I have been MIA lately trying to wrap up my last sewing projects (goal was to finish my May 1st and that didn't happen...) but I'm back with an update today.

As it turns out, one of my sister has a convention IN ORLANDO the weekend before our check-in on Monday. Isn't that funny timing? So now, my parents and said sister will be spending 1 night at Art of Animation before the rest of us arrive on Monday at different times. Depending on how long our drive takes, perhaps we'll first stop at AoA to check it out. I'm sure DD would love it.

Disney recently announced the opening date of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and it's after out trip. Fingers crossed for a soft opening opportunity while we're there!

In this update, I wanted to share some items I've picked up for the parks.

First, a friend of mine handmade a princess autograph book. I absolutely love it! (I bought an extra for a future trip!) Isn't she so talented?

We also have nearly every princess's Golden Book and we plan to bring those to have signed, as well. I also picked up Golden Books for the Disney Jr. characters (need a Sofia one) and Minnie:

I may look at Etsy for a similar handmade autograph book for the classic characters, too, as I realized over the weekend we have nothing for Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale, etc to sign! I'm not too concerned about Pixar characters. I doubt we'll take the time to meet them.

I also picked up some glow stick items for a night in MK:

Also, my mom and I decorated our Magic Bands! We used nail polish. DD really wanted purple, which wasn't an option. So I had to make that happen. In good lighting these are really sparkly and pretty. Pictures just don't do them justice. (the Mickey head on the yellow one [mine] has since been painted pink, as well).

Finally, I decided that the original Belle dress just wasn't going to work and I was sick of trying to fix it. I had to remake the bodice last month when the original bodice's seams all frayed and split. The new bodice looked very nice, but the dress was a little too small (I followed a tutorial, not a pattern). Then, I found a rip in the costume satin on the bodice. UGH!! So, on a whim, I took a personal day yesterday and created a new gown. I used the same skirt tutorial, but used a bodice pattern from Create Kids Couture. It turned out gorgeous.

Oh! I realized I haven't shared this next dress/tunic, either. I upcycled another tshirt (JC Penney sale shirt):

I'm currently putting finishing touches on DH's Flynn Rider vest and my Aurora accessories. I have some finishing touches to add to DNephew's costumes, too.

The other night we went through all of DD's clothes and set aside the ones we are packing for Disney, so that was good progress! This weekend we start packing and cleaning out our car in earnest!!

13 days? How the heck did that happen? That means I'm 10 days behind you. We were able to get FP+ for two days for the Mine Ride. I am praying for soft openings for all of my DIS friends going earlier than the official open date.

Love the new Belle dress...it came out great!

The AK dress is adorable!!! I would totally wear that!! I've been thinking about doing something sort-of similar for myself, since I can't find anything AK-like to wear that day. I was thinking about doing some sort of pillowcase dress for myself, but I am not sure I will ever get to it. I just love the colors and prints of yours... And I realize the one posted above is for your dd and not you. LOL

The autograph book it TDF!!! Seriously - I love it! Your friend did a fantastic job!

And the Belle dress... Just wow!!! That is some HUGE talent you have there and I just love it!

13 days... Oh wow... That snuck up on us quickly! Good luck getting everything done that you need to do.

I LOVE all the sewing you've done for the trip! I wish I could sew, but alas, it's a lost cause... Then again, I used to say that I couldn't crochet, and now I'm actually pretty decent at that. lol

Anywho, I hope you have an AMAZING trip and a safe drive there and back! I especially wanted to comment because my 4 year old has no sense of time or distance, so when he talks of Disney, he says that we're going tomorrow and that it will take us twenty minutes to get there. lol (we're going in September, and most assuredly do NOT live 20 minutes away. hahaha)

Right?! It's going so fast. That's awesome you got your FP+! Since it isn't opening I went ahead and watched a POV video (and got woozy!), and it'll be awesome for you! Fingers crossed we can experience it in person.

Thank you for the really kind words!! There is something about a simple dress that I just love! I got the giraffe print from Fat Quarter Shop. The coordinating fabrics are from JoAnn's. I need to branch out and make something for myself this summer!

Isn't she great?! Unfortunately she's doing a big move right now so can't make me Anna & Elsa pages--so I'm going to try and squeeze that in next week or even on the drive down, lol! I ordered a standard personalized book from an Etsy shop yesterday, so that'll be good for other characters.

And thank you again. I'm proud of the Belle gown, for sure. I'll have another picture below.

Thank you! I started off a disaster at sewing, lol! But I just kept reading and diving right in. Practice makes better (nothing is ever perfect, haha).

Haha! Time is so hard to explain, too! I really hope she sleeps a good chunk of our drive to make it seem faster for her. Thankfully my brother and his GF, whom she adores, will be with us to keep her entertained. Your trip will be here before you know it!!

Countdown is On​

We finally started an official countdown today. We'd tried one on a Minnie Mouse dry erase board but she just wanted to color on it, so I dropped that idea! I have Mickey head die cuts glued on scrapbook paper leftover from DD's 2nd birthday party and I'd always thought I could use them for a countdown. So tonight during DD's bath I used doublesided restickable tape to make this countdown poster. I only had 11 Mickeys, so I got "creative" on Day 1 since we're driving that day and cut out a car and made a castle.

One last share tonight...this was before I got the chiffon on the elastic waistband so you don't see the soft gathers it will have, but this is my "costume" for the 24 hour event. Minus the Belle crown, lol, DD insisted on that. I have dress pants on underneath, and I don't know what I'll put under it that day--maybe pink shorts.

ONE WEEK!​

Wow, in 1 week we will be enjoying our first day in the Magic Kingdom!! I cannot believe we are so close. I don't have that great of an update, but do have some things to share as we get closer and closer to starting our vacation.

First, I received DD's autograph book. It's smaller than I expected (but should have known), but oh well. Next trip I'll plan this part in advance and make our own, probably.

I do really like it!

Second, we have all our clothes packed! We have ebags packing cubes and can fit all our clothes (minus DD's custom dresses and our swim stuff) in this one suitcase. We have one large size packing cube leftover that we're taking with just in case.

Third, our countdown is going strong and DD loves her Belle dress!!

Finally, an update on our Disney 24 costumes. My mom will be Disney bounding as Snow White--her outfit is adorable. So I decided to make my dad a Prince Charming blue vest thingy last night out of a blue XL t-shirt I had . It doesn't look great, because the ribbon I used as trim puckered like CRAZY. But they'll look cute! My sister and her husband are going as Ariel and Eric. I'll be the lone character from Sleeping Beauty, but that's ok! It makes DD happy!

Today a brand-new Meijer opens just down the road from us. We have to drive 10 minutes to a grocery, so we are STOKED. I'm headed there after DD's bedtime (open 24 hours!) to pick up some trip necessities and to browse. Then I need to sort through DD's hairbows/headbands/accessories, and I will share those in another post! Super cute stuff.

Haha, yes, I used to overpack to an extreme. So I get that! We'll definitely be bringing more stuff, but nice to have all the clothes in 1 place. Supposedly rolling clothes up helps keep wrinkles at bay, too. I'm skeptical of that as it didn't work too well when we cruised last year.

I'm still on the fence about a full-fledged TR, but I may try! Thanks!
