Photo Assignment November '06: Low Light/Nighttime

epdarkdn5.jpg

Took this one from our room at Pop Thursday night. It's off EPCOT's Space Ship Earth just after Illuminations.

Also from Pop, the view from the walkway infront of our room.

This is a shot of the Chicago Bean in Millennium Park with the reflections from the surrounding buildings.

But I look forward to improving upon it on subsequent trips. Ordering NEW camera and will be armed with new knowledge (thanks to Dis Boards) :thumbsup2

Wow those are some beautiful photos of the sunset/rises... stunning. I esp. like the ones of the stars.

Thanks.

The purple stuff in the star photo is from a problem with the old Canon D60 series. When taking really long exposures (that was 10 seconds), you often got a purplish tint to part of the sky.

If you look about 2/3 of the way up the photo, you'll also see a straight line of red dots. I'm guessing that was an airplane that flew over.

I took this shot the same night.

This wasn't actually taken in November, but it's a starting point. I'd like to learn from those of you who take gorgeous sunrise/sunset pictures what to improve upon for low light and nighttime photos so I can get spectacular shots on our January trip to the World, but more importantly our cruise!

This was taken with my Canon S2 IS on full auto mode. Thanks for your opinions!

Wow, thats a ton of stars. We get beautiful sunsets here as we live right on the river and we've got the ocean just across the street. However we also live right next to the port so we have a ton of development and it's hard to take photos without large condos in the way...lol. I may go out tomorrow night and try for some shots.

What nice pictures everyone. I sure do like low light pictures. With my p&s, only so much one can do. Here are a few from the past few years......

I know what you mean! Although I've never been to France, I do roast and grind my own coffee. Much Better!! :thumbsup2

In fact, it's a wonder to me that WDW has such terrible coffee. Nestcafe??????? :rolleyes1

I've been thinking about getting a new espressor machine, but it never even occurred to me that I could roast the beans myself. Thanks for the tip!

ITA about the coffee at WDW. We had dinner at the Kona Cafe at the Poly last week and had a nice cafe au lait there--by far the best coffee I've had at WDW. But I don't think I can justify the expense of staying at the Poly on the basis of decent coffee, tempting though it may be.

Mark - These photos are 'professional' to me; especially the sunrise one! I have spent many nights camping in Rocky Mountain NP and been impressed by the stars but yours is the first picture that comes close to capturing that impressive feeling. Beautiful, beautiful pictures!

MarkBarbieri, your photographs are very beautiful, so clear, crisp & wonderful color. Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to more. Great work.
