Photo Assignment July '07: Water

i've been taking this fountain for probably unsuccessfully for 2 months, usually at slow speed ( as slow as i could since it's always really bright) last night i tried high speed and liked it a lot more. it shows the frenetic water better imo
exif 1/1250 f8 200mm canon rebel xt 70-200 f4 lens ( for some reason i messed up the first load to photobucket and now the exif wouldn't come up so the metering is partial, no flash, can't think what else should be there)

These were taken under the waterfall in our pool. I couldn't decide which I wanted to post - so you are stuck with all of them. Sorry :rolleyes1

I like the first one best, can you zoom in on that perspective and fill the frame with the drop?? That should be awesome!!

I need to do some high speed water drop shots.

BTW, how is the new camera working out? Looks like; Just Fine!!!

I went to our local zoo.. Among other things, I had the water theme in mind. Here is a few of my shots (All S2IS, circular polarizer)..Some slight post-processing for levels and cropping.

Light mist on this guy keeping him cool...

Then there is this guy - he knew the water better than everyone!

And something man-made.

Some really great shots everyone!

Here are mine:

shot info: 1/320 f5.6 ISO 100 at 300mm focal length.

shot info: 1/200 f5.6 ISO 100 at 300mm focal length.

The second shot was a happy acident - yesterday was the first day of trying out the new lens, and I am having some issues getting the focus right when I shoot in the 200 - 300 mm range. But I really like the soft focus on this picture, it almost gives it a glowing effect.

Jen,

That came out great! Good job!

Andy

Thanks Jann and Andy. I am really trying to push the envelope so to speak. I had never done anything like this before - so it was pushing it for ME.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. This was my 3rd attempt at shooting something for this assignment. First two bombed - actually was rained out the first time and had an uncooperative daughter the second.
:sad2:

Here are a couple of shots from today during my son's swim team practice. The season goes through the beginning of August, so I have lots more time to practice. These aren't anything special, as I'm a complete novice.

This is using my Canon P&S this afternoon. I'm finally trying to figure out what all the manual settings do on my camera (thanks to being inspired by all of you!). I haven't tried the assignment before but was reading all the posts this morning and I happened to be by the pool with my camera...well, you get the picture (no pun intended!)

Love it!!!

I ride by this everyday, and I happened to have my camera today (I was taking it in to work so I could test out a lens I was thinking of getting - Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4.5 DC Macro) so I stopped and snapped this picture. Just a hint of rainbow in the spray to the left.
