Phone wait time?

My travel agent was up very early this morning trying to phone Disney to book my vacation. After about 2 hours of being on hold, she was disconnected.

When I arrived at her office at 9:30am, she explained what happen and had to start all over again. I paid my deposit and left at 9:45am......I felt so bad for her.

I just called to see if she had any luck getting through, and she is still on hold....OMG!!!!!!!!


Is anyone else having a hard time getting through to Disney?

I was on hold for 30 minutes @ 11, just got off the phone about 10 minutes ago.

Can I just ask what is the benefit of using a TA? Do they get you a better deal?

And why do people call? If it can be done online, is there a benefit to calling instead of booking online? I just couldn't sit on hold for an hour or more when I can do the same thing in 10 minutes online.

I would call myself....that's odd that she'd be on hold that long when most people were on hold for around 30 minutes.

I already had a reservation for my mom so I had to apply this to the existing reservation, I can't do that on line. That reservation, as well as mine and my aunts were all made on line first.

And some people like to talk to an actual person, to each his own.

I tried to call at 8:30 CDT and it estimated wait time at 25 minutes, so I hung up. Called again at 9:00ish CDT and got the dreaded no available circuits message! Called back around 9:30ish CDT and wait time was estimated at 3 minutes, but it was less than that. She answered almost immediately and was very helpful.

1) There are people who don't use credit cards and most vacation destinations require them for payment/deposits.

2) A lot of people don't know this one, but booking through travel agents is much safer. Let's say for a moment that I paid $1000 for airline ticket that I got through my TA. Now if that airline goes bankrupt tomorrow, I'll get my money back ASAP. Travel agents pay into an insurance policy that covers all of their clients money in case of unknown disasters like airline bankruptcy.


3) I just feel more comfortable using my TA, LOL.

Travel agents have access to a 1-800 number.....maybe that is what's taking so long. I never thought about it, thanks.


Maybe I'll run over a calling card so she can phone the normal number.
