I was wondering what airlines you take from Phoenix to MCO? We always take SWA but they don't arrive very early in the day. The earliest we can get with them is late afternoon. So we are looking for ideas, if anyone has any? Thank you!

PHX has lots of airlines other than SW. But unlike SW Phoenix is not a hub for them. You probably won't get a direct flight.

Try looking at this site, it will compare many airlines.

AmericaWest used to have a huge hub in PHX (I used to live there). I don't know if they still do, after merging with USAirways, but I would try USAirways. Also, Bing travel as PP suggested

As far as I know SW only has one nonstop flight to MCO and it arrives around 5pm usually. There are many others during the day but they all have stops. I took one over a year ago and it stopped briefly in ABQ for about 20 minutes before heading to MCO. I didn't think it was that bad considering we didn't have to switch planes and we got a chance to stand and stretch before continuing on.
USAirways I believe has 2 nonstop flights to MCO. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. I think the morning flight gets in earlier than SW's nonstop flight but the issue with USAirways is that if you have to reschedule or cancel, you're out $200. With already paying for nearly $400 a ticket, I would rather arrive a little later and have that peace of mind that I won't lose out on my fare if I suddenly have to cancel.
As far as I know, there are no other airlines that fly nonstop. I know that AA has flights with layovers in Dallas. I think I saw one arriving around 3:30 pm. I'm sure it varies on different days.
I have also taken a red-eye from PHX to MCO before. I think we left around 11 pm and arrived at MCO @ 6:30am. NEVER AGAIN!
I hope that helps. ;)

Continental has a flight that leaves at 5:15am, layover in Houston of 40 minutes and requires you to change planes. It arrives at Orlando at 1:45pm.

We thought about that but airfare was not low enough considering the $50RT per piece of luggage you'll pay along with having to change planes. Southwest does not charge for luggage up to two per person.

So we opted for Southwest and leave on a Saturday on an 8am flight that arrives in Orlando at 4:20pm, has 1 short stop and no plane change.

Our return leaves Orlando at 3:15pm and gets to Phoenix at 5pm nonstop.

I noticed SW's schedule changes substantially starting Oct. 1st.
