PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

For the record, no one really knows HOW to do Jazzirit hands- it's completely made up and we all kinda decided that we'll look like we are having seizures as we cross the finish line as we attempt it!!! Plus, it's a really fun word to say. Try it out- it's addictive. Put it in a sentence and see.... just jazzirit it!
Glad it was explained. For a while I thought it had to do with jazz hands placement on t shirts fronts lol

Not completely happy with this page...but I am thinking of capturing each month! And to top if off I just realized I was looking at an April calendar instead of March. Oh seriously...I have done this exact same thing at work all day. I could have sworn today was April 1...guess the only fool is me today!

Tammie, I love it!! How did you do it?

You ladies are way too fast and active for me. But I saw mention of running playlists and thought I'd offer a couple from mine:

Message in a Bottle - Police - this one really helps me keep on cadence. Sometimes I put it on repeat
Runaway Baby - Bruno Mars
Locked out of Heaven - Bruno Mars
Pretty Vegas - INXS
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap
I have some Deadmau5 and Tiesto - especially good for apps with cadence adjusters
Love Today - Mika
Shake It - Michael Franti
Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John

For cool-down:
Babylon - David Gray
Metal and Steel - (Austin's own) Bob Schneider
Flake - Jack Johnson
Midnight City - M83

Try some of these out and let me know your thoughts! I have a bunch more.

Saturday, March 29 (INTERVAL LONG-5K W3/D3) I sure wish that I could sleep in on a Saturday, but I am a morning person so up I am along with the sun, just wished that the temp outside would cooperate. Finally, at 9 am and 40 degrees I decided to get going with my long run day. Really not very long yet in the training program, a scheduled 2.5 miles and of course I would do more but just how far would I push myself? I really wanted to know to more about how I was looking for a 5K in a few weeks, since I am already 3 weeks of where I wanted to be training wise. So after 2.5 miles came and went with me feeling strong, I decided to go for a 5K. I ended up going 3.62 by the time I finished with a cool down on top of the 5K with a pace of 12:39. ARE YOU KIDDING ME…I JUST RAN over 3 miles under a 13 minute mile and that includes 6 minutes of shear walking warm up/cool down! My splits (13:23, 12:45, 10:51, 13:44)…look at my 3rd mile split 10:51 Amazing, maybe I might shape up to be a better runner than I think I can be…of course when I start feeling good, injury time so I will just keep holding my breath! Also, today I noticed one of my favorite signs of spring…

I hear you on the morning person situation. I don't really understand the "lingo" with the "splits" and what not but what you accomplished sounds pretty impressive to me! Plus, SPRING is here, sorta kinda. Well actually not my here (since just yesterday we had sleet and a bit of snow) but most likely your here (since you have flowers budding on trees) - if any of this makes sense :goodvibes

So, when I crossed the finish line, I threw up my hands and they looked like Jazz Hands...but then I was confused b/c I could have sworn in the movie "Bring it On" (cheerleading movie) that they were doing Jazz hands, but it turns out it was "Spirit Fingers"...

Soooooo...Jazz hands + Spirit Fingers (Jazzirit) was born. :rolleyes1

Ok, gotcha! One of my FB groups is all about the jazz hands, so Jazzirit was peaking my curiousity. I am totally familiar with Bring it On & the spirit fingers, lol.

We are all going to be so awesome wearing our THREE princess bling, bling! Can't wait!!!

Bling, bling, bling!! Plus the 5K medallion :)

Jazzirit...jazzirit...it does have a fun ring to it. We might have to have a impromptu practice session before the race.

Oh yes bling envy from the glass slipper!! I had shirt envy too!! Everywhere I went glass slipper shirts and bling. I said self...."glass slipper shall be mine, next year!"

Don't get me wrong, it was nice to sleep in 10K morning, but I was sooooo wishing I had signed up for GSC. There were spots opened when I signed up, but at the time I thought PHM would be my first half & it would be too much, oh well. I still had a great time doing 5K & 1/2, but am totally looking forward to GSC in 2015.

I love Bruno Mars "Locked out of heaven". I have one of the remix versions on my workout playlist.

Also have Black Eyed Peas "Boom boom pow".

Will check out some of these others.

I didn't post anything yesterday about the music Monday suggestions. I have a few songs that are my "go to" when things are getting tough mentally during my run. I also have a separate playlist for "mindset" songs before a race when I am in the corral.

A few of my "go to" songs (when things are tough in my run)...
Best of You - by Foo Fighters
Lose Yourself - by Eminem

Oooh- forgot how much I like the song Lose Yourself. I will have to add that to my running play list. Thanks for the reminder! :thumbsup2

I'm actually really happy with my choice to just do the Princess Half this year for my first half. I knew that I would probably want to do the GSC next year and that was ok with me, but for my first half, I just wanted it to be about THAT, if that makes sense.

I also have noticed that many runners go all out right off the bat and do so many challenges and races one after another that they burn out or get in a funk, feeling like they've already done it all or...Now what?!?! I want to continue to run and challenge myself but not all overnight, if that makes sense? Focusing on my first half was amazing and now I feel I have something new to look forward to in focusing on a back-to-back run/half with the GSC. :thumbsup2

One of those :crazy2: kind of run days...but I got out there and did it...well sort of! Seems like every time I come off of a really good run, reality smacks me in the face that I am not a runner in any stretch of the word.

Tammie, I love it!! How did you do it?

Thank you!

It is a digital scrapbook template that I have that I filled in...glad you like I am not happy with it...something just is not right. That is the problem with digital scrapbooking...you can change it up over and over and over...

Me too Tammie. I ran 2 miles today but it wiped me out & I struggled. It's days like today that make me think.. what am I signing up for?!?!?

I wish I could day APRIL FOOLS, but sadly I think I was the fool out there! I have to figure out what keeps causing this problem...no shin splint issues to set it off. The only thing I can think of is that today I was on my feet all day "ACTIVELY MONITORING" state assessments instead of sitting at my desk working on paperwork and planning staff development.

This is the playlist I am using right now - it's kind of all over the place, just like my times. Hoping someday to be able to listen to the whole thing over a run.
For now, I am trying to think good thoughts about my next "race":good vibes

This thread moves quickly! I feel like I was off the grid last week. My phone doesn't work in Ohio so I had very little internet service while we were there.

I finally got to run (on the treadmill :faint:) in my new shoes. How long will it take me to get used to them?

One song that helps motivate me is Overcomer by Mandisa. It has a nice beat and the message is good too!

I am signed up for a 10K next Saturday. I will be celebrating my finish with a piece of cake at my cousin's wedding. :thumbsup2

I am going to have to check most of these out...not familiar with most of them...or at least I don't know the titles or the artist I am listening too!:confused3

Some days this thread does move fast...depends on what kind of mood we are in I guess...the other day we were all over JAZZIRIT! You should see Nicole's TR/PTR? from that night...blew it up!

I love OVERCOMER...it is on my current 5K playlist. There are a lot of her songs that I am using right now. So perfect!

YAY for the 10K and come back and share a race report...and picture of the cake! YUM

WEDNESDAY WONDERINGS...

I am trying to come up with thread topics so we can get to know each other even more. So Wednesday is going to be WONDERING day...Today I am wondering what is your favorite "EYE CANDY" at WDW. You know that something that you could sit and stare at forever...for me it has to be Cinderella's Castle at Christmas. The first time I ever saw the castle in person, I cried and the first time I saw it draped in lights for Christmas was even more powerful. Maybe because I was sharing the castle for the first time with my family. I love Christmas lights and can't wait to see this view again someday.

I like to people watch at Disney. You see people from all over. Some happy some not, some dressed in heels, some dressed in flip
flops. It's so interesting that such a diverse crowd of people at the all in one place.

Eye Candy at Disney- hmm, this is a tough one because I have so many....

1. I also love the castle in lights. It's so beautiful. This is probably my #1 as well.

2. Peter Pan's Ride, as the ride goes up over London and the city gets small.

3. The first time you drive under the gates that say "Walt Disney World" when you are coming on property.

4. Spaceship Earth at Night.

5. My breakfast spread at Ohana's. :) :rotfl:

This is a terrible question for me! It's ALL eye (or rather camera) candy for me! Capturing all the amazing sights at WDW has to be one of my biggest reasons for continuing to go back. I love all the little details, the variety, and the colors. I'm afraid you asked for it Tammie, but I cannot let the answer go without sharing a few random shots! ;)
