Looks like our flight to Orlando from Philly next week has a full plane. In fact, so do the other 5 or so flights that day. Is this typical for this time of year at Philly or does it mean WDW will be busier during the last week of August? Or does it mean nothing at all? At least it looks like no flights will be canceled due to planes being half full.

I have been going to WDW for the last 3 years on SW 2 or 3 times a year and have never been on a plane that wasn't full.

You never know what might be causing it. I go to Disney the bascially the same time every year. Last year, I booked on Southwest. I was always checking to see if my flight went down in price to see if I could get a credit. For the longest time you couldn't even get a price on my flight. It was apparently sold out. When I got to the airport I found out why. There is a high school football tournament that weekend. The football team and their companions pretty much bought all of the tickets. I think there might have been 10 other on the flight who weren't part of the team.

I second this, it seems no matter what day of the week or what time of day I fly to MCO the flight has been either full or very nearly full.

I'll just chime in and agree with others ... I've flown PHL to MCO numerous times in October when the parks aren't full at all. I've flown on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The only time the flights weren't packed was when catching the earliest hop of the morning. After 9AM flights were full, many times with announcements that the flight was overbooked. This was with SouthWest and USAir.

Also, how do you know the flight is full? If you are relying on the airline's online seating maps, there may be plenty of preferred seats on the flight that you can't see are available in advance without elite frequent flyer status. If you're looking to see if you can buy a ticket and aren't able to do so at any price, on the other hand, that could very well mean the flight is full.
