Sorry Lou. I should've added more smiley faces. It was all meant in fun. My apologies if it came off as mean spirited

:sad1: Boohoooooo....You're such a princess: . Here I thought you were all hard core & everything...sheesh. Say, got any running-skirts in your drawer that I can borrow for Philly?

Happy Halloween and Friday!

Quick post for now, I'll post more this weekend.

Got my 10 in this morning. Had a bloody chaffing problem,however:sad2: This has never happened before - I've had issues with chaffing, usually from my fuel belt, but this is a whole new and uncomfortable area - and there was acutal blood! Without being too graphic it is in the area where my HR monitor chest strap would normally be and I usually use Body Glide there. However, my HR Monitor is not working, so I didn't wear the chest strap today and, thus, figured I didn't need to use body glide. Apparently, not a smart move on my part.:headache:  :scared1: :sad2:

Oh, and I realized that I ran 217 miles in the month of October.:scared1:

Oh, and I realized that I ran 217 miles in the month of October.:scared1:

Cindy~ I ran a total of 116.47 miles in October, 111.5 miles in September, 95.92 miles in August, 95.65 miles in July, and 58.3 miles in June.

217 in October is really hardcore. Maybe you should see a doctor or something. :confused3

:sad1: Boohoooooo....You're such a princess: . Here I thought you were all hard core & everything...sheesh. Say, got any running-skirts in your drawer that I can borrow for Philly?
I'm sorry dear, but exactly whose skirt are you asking to borrow?

I plan to run in mine in Philly but maybe Lou's will be available.

Lou - How was the parade?

Cindy - That's a whopping amount of miles! I have no idea how many miles I've run on a peak month but I'm sure it's not even close to that. I remember adding up the training miles for my first full. I used a Hal Higdon novice plan, didn't miss a single run and totaled about 405 miles, but that was over 3 1/2 months.

Ouchy on the severe chaffing. I hope it heals quickly and doesn't bother you on your future runs.

Megan - Don't let Cindy's numbers intimidate you. She's superhuman!

Where was everyone else today?

Well, I didn't run 20 today but I did get 12 miles in. I kind of petered out a bit towards the end but not too bad overall.

I may have to start running Cindyesque miles to burn off all the Halloween candy the girls collected tonight. Good stuff!

Mike~ Good work on the miles today! I think you'll do fine in burning off the Halloween candy calories. :thumbsup2

Cindy~ Sorry to hear about the chafing, blood and gore. I had a similar issue with my 5 miles yesterday. I figured it was a short run, no need for Bodyglide on the "nips". Wrong! :headache: For the first time ever, I was bloody after the run. One was dripping even. I am not sure why I wasn't aware of it during the run. I am thinking the cold air and dry skin might have had something to do with it. I've learned a painful lesson... Bodyglide for even the short runs from now on.

I hadn't planned anything (in the running dept) for today. I donated blood (waiting until after the MCM) today - Double Platelets and Plasma. So, no running today or tomorrow... shucks, darn it! I hate when that happens! ;)

I hate to say that the pesky pain in my left arch is back today, probably a remnant from my 5 miles. I am not sure what is causing it. I ran over 26.2 miles on it on Sunday and it didn't hurt at all. However, on Saturday it was painful and making itself known. The sharp pain is right in front of the heel as it transitions into my arch. I need to do some research to see what muscle, tendon, etc. is there. Hopefully I will figure it out and it won't be an issue in my three weeks of prep for the Philadelphia Marathon. In the mean time, I am resting it today and tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry Lou. I should've added more smiley faces. It was all meant in fun. My apologies if it came off as mean spirited.

Do enjoy the celebration with your family. It's great that you can all share the fun together. Did you get your 10 miles in today?

Mike - No big deal. It's been an emotional week.

The parade was great. By far the largest event I ever attended anywhere. They claim 2 million people were there. Not sure about that but there were a lot of people partying in the streets yesterday.

We hung out on the parade route for about an hour waiting for the team. There were lots of people jammed onto the sidewalk and the crowds were very well behaved. The parade passed us pretty quickly and we had a hard time making out who the players were so we decided to walk 3 miles to the stadium complex to see the celebration. Not a big deal for me but dragging 2 kids for 3 miles wasn't fun. We were not alone....thousands of people were walking south like it was a religious experience.

When we got to the stadiums the crowds were even larger. We had tickets to the party at the Linc and that was nice. The players came in and walked around the football field for about 5 minutes. A few of them addressed the crowd. Then they went over to the baseball park for the big celebration. We watched that from the big screen at the Linc because tix for that event were tough to get.

All in all it was a great day to top off a great week. For anyone interested in what to wear for the Philly marathon...I think these outfits are on sale...

lou: dare I ask why anyone would want to be in all green unless you are trying for the army man look from Toy Story?

we had a nice Halloween, way too much candy hanging around the house now (and I couldn't find any time to run yesterday)

yes, I am doing the WDW full in Jan-- it all stems of a crazy New Years resolution and the fact that the 1/2 was already at capacity when we signed up. I've been following a schedule put together by team NOVA, although my following is pretty loose, basically trying to get in at least one long run a week and slowly increase the miles. We watched this NOVA special on taking "couch potato" people and seeing if in 8 months you could train them to run a marathon-- nearly all of them were able to do it, so we figured if they could then so could we--- thus started our running careers (watching PBS can in fact be bad for you :lmao: ). That was in January and made it perfect for a resolution so DH and I have started running and now have 2 1/2 marathons under our belts. I'm slow, but making a bit of progress each week...

lou: dare I ask why anyone would want to be in all green unless you are trying for the army man look from Toy Story?
Jen - It's kind of a demented version of the Toy Story green men. I'm told this guy usually "hangs" out at the Eagles games and goes by the name "Green Man". He was quite the hit at the parade.

Hey Everyone: I had a good run today. I did 10 miles on the Erie Canal Trail in 1:38 min/9:48 mpm pace. I must admit I took a lot of ibuprofen before the run, and my hip didn't bug me at all. I took it nice and slow and easy. I felt like my conditioning/endurance was off though. It seemed like I was working hard and breathing heavy to get through the 10 miles. But I'm glad I had a decent long run. It's been a long time - since the Rochester half marathon back in mid-September.

Dave - I'm so happy for you that you had a decent long run:cool1: It seems like you've kept yourself in pretty good shape with biking - don't worry about it seeming a little more difficult, I think that always happens - more of a getting back into the groove thing than anything else. I bet the next run you do will seem easier.

Colleen - How is DD?

Sara - You've been quiet - I hope everything is ok:hug:

Jodi - Interested to hear what you ended up doing this weekend popcorn::

:wave2: to everyone else - gotta get back to cleaning - but no work for me this weekend:banana:

Ran 4 really horrible miles this morning. Not sure what the deal was but everything felt wrong - like the whole act of putting one foot in front of the other didn't make sense.:confused3 I'm hoping I can get my act together for tomorrow - no way I could have run 20 today.:sad2:

Hi Cindy - Yeah, I tend to be quiet when I don't feel much like a runner:confused3 . I've had really good runs speed-wise lately, but when LTO and I can't run most days of the week I don't like it:mad: . Sorry you had a stonker run today and about the chafing incident:headache: .

Dave - Nice job on the 10 miles:banana:

Lou - What a whirlwind week you've had:thumbsup2 Great pics;)

Howard - How's the arch feelingpopcorn:: ?

Mike - Now and Later, Skittles or Starbursts are what I fight my DD's for:laughing: . Chocolate does nothing for me:confused3 .

Colleen, Jodi, Jen, Chester, Steve - :wave2:

I am feeling good and hoping to get 12 miles in tomorrow:rolleyes1 . DD11 had her People to People interview today and was accepted as a student ambassador to travel to France and England next summer:yay: She's :cloud9: so it's a good day:love:

Happy training to all this week - let the taper madness begin real soon:grouphug: although I don't know how much taper would differ from what I've actually been doing:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hi Sara! (And everyone else!)~ I am recovering from the blood donation on Friday. I think I should be able to run tomorrow evening and get a few miles in. As for my arch, it is feeling just fine today. I did feel some pain in the heel arch this morning when I woke up, but it has since gone back to normal.

Cindy~ Sorry your run this morning wasn't great. That happens.. I am sure you will be out there again wowing us with your numbers.

Dave~ Glad to hear you got a good run in. I hope the pain-free running continues (Ibuprofen enduced or not).

Hi to Lou, Chester, Colleen, Jodi, Jen, Mike (tell Kathy we said hello!), and Megan!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

:grouphug:

Howard

Cindy - Your last double digit before work? What the heck are you going to do with all the extra time? Take up needle point or something?

This one's easy - sleep! That's the one part of this training that I've been horrible at. Definitely too many nights of around only 5 hours :sad2:

Jen - Sounds like you have a good plan for getting ready for the full!

Sara
- I hope you are able to get you 12 in today:hug: Great news about your DD - what an amazing experience that will be!

Howard - I hope your arch continues to feel good if you run today.

Lou - Glad that you had a good time celebrating the Phillies win! Interesting photo . . .

Getting ready for my 20 . . . I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cindy - 210 miles!? That's incredible. Can I borrow about 40 miles for October?

Sara - Congrats to DD!! That sounds like a great experience. Are you going to get to go over for some time as well?

Dave - Nice job on the Erie canal. That must be a nice scenic run.

Hi to Chester, Colleen, Jodi, Jen, Mike, Steve, and Howard

I ran the Ben Franklin Bridge Run (10K) today. Finished in 48:06 which is slightly better than last year's 48:41. The main thing was finishing without getting injured. Last year I blew out my knee running down the bridge too fast. This year I tried to ease up on the bridge (first 5K) and ran hard when I got back to flat ground (last 5K). I actually ran pretty hard the last mile. Here are the splits...

Time.....Distance..Split time
08:08.....1.00.....8:08
15:51.....2.00.....7:42
23:42.....3.00.....7:51
31:23.....4.00.....7:41
38:59.....5.00.....7:35
46:18.....6.00.....7:19
48:06.....6.26.....1:47

Lou - Nice job on the 10K - way to finish fast and I'm glad you didn't get injured!

As for me - 20 miles done and time to taper:cool1: It was a good run, probably my best 20 miler ever - average pace 10:19, which is faster than I should be doing my LRs according to my training plan (which calls from LRs to be done 10-20% slower than marathon pace), but I finished feeling like I could have run faster and longer so it gives me confidence that my goal of 4 hours 20 minutes (yes, I am now declaring an official goal) is realistic.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

DD11 had her People to People interview today and was accepted as a student ambassador to travel to France and England next summer:yay: She's :cloud9: so it's a good day:love:

Yeah to your DD!  Sounds like a fabulous experience!

Dave, good job on the 10. What do you have planned for next weekends LR?

Lou, impressive last mile! Yes, keep yourself healthy for Philly so there is ice left when I come across the finish line.:rolleyes1

Cindy, another 20 miles again today? How did it go?

Sara, what about your 12??:rolleyes1

Oh, Jodi, what did you decide to do this weekend?

Howard, no more donating blood until after Disney. That is an order! I am so anemic, they won't even take my blood.:sad2:

Jen, I saw the same NOVA special. They were running Boston weren't they? It was interesting to see them progress.

As for training, 5.1 miles in on Friday. Nothing yesterday as I was a little hung over from my 2 beer :sad2: at Friday night's Halloween party. So sad that I feel so miserable after two drinks. I hppe to get out today for 5 or 6 miles, but I am still feeling a little queasy.

DD is feeling better, but she still hasn't gained back all her weight she lost the past month. She is at 80 pounds now, 4 more to go...

Hi Everyone: Doing laundry today :laundy:, and I just thought I would catch up with everyone. Not much new here as I'm taking a rest day. Ooooh, I'm excited that I got an invitation in the mail for a DVC show here in Rochester at our Children's Museum - the Strong Museum. So we're going on Sunday, Nov 16th in the afternoon. I really have no intention to buy in. I just can't see affording it right now (or ever), but I thought it would be fun to go to.

Colleen- Wow, too hung over for your training. Who would have thought it? Good job on your 5 miler on Friday. As far as next weekend's LR, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I thought I may try to do 20 miles, but I'm worried about jumping up way to high in the distance and hurting myself. So I'm debating about whether I should do 20 on Saturday, or if I should just do 13 or so and see how the marathon goes. Any thoughts?

Cindy- Wahhhooooo for you. Great job getting your 20 miler in, and I'm glad you didn't have anymore chafing trouble. You've done such a fantastic job with your training, and you are in great shape. You are going to rock the course in Philly. No more marathon meltdowns like before. Enjoy the taper.

Lou- You are doing really well with your running too. I'm so impressed with your splits there. Especially the last mile of that 10K. Awesome! Thanks for sharing the image of the green guy. It actually cracked me up.

Howard- Good luck with your MCM and blood donation recovery. How's your heel feeling? I'm looking forward to seeing you and Cam in a few weeks.

Sara- You never shared any details about your Dallas weekend. How was it? popcorn:: How are your legs doing these days? Did you get your 12 miles in?

Hi Jen- Welcome back from Disney. How was the trip? I watched that NOVA show too. I thought it was pretty good. Good luck with your full marathon training.

Mike- How are you feeling after the MCM marathon? I'm impressed you already got out there and ran 12. Good for you - you must be feeling pretty good.

Jodi- How was NYC? What'd you end up doing with the girls? Were you all walking around NYC like the "Sex in the City" girls? Did you ever get that 20 miler in this weekend?

Hello Megan- How's your training going?

Hello Chester :wave2:

OK, I hear the dryer is finished. Time to fold more laundry. :laundy:
