Whew, got my 10 miles in today.

It had to be on the treadmill b/c it is cold and REALLY windy here today. (I have become such a wimp.)

Anyway, it is in the books, 10 miles in 2:06.:thumbsup2

Nice Pace!!:thumbsup2 What other LR/Ws do you have planned, if any...you can see where this is going :rotfl2: .

Didn't you already do 18? You seem to do really well at marathons (and 50Ks) without doing a 20. Maybe do the half on Saturday and then do something like 16-18 next weekend? You'll probably be fine.

Alternate advice - Suck it up and run the 20;)

:lmao: I know, I'm such a dork!

Lou - Sorry Earl didn't cooperate for the game last night. Wish the Phillies could have wrapped it up...think they'll get the game in tonight?
No, they won't be playing tonight. I was in Trenton, NJ about 2 hours ago and it is @#%*n snowing! :scared1: What a depressing day after such a great weekend. Not even sure if they will play this game tomorrow. Looks like Thursday. Everything, including running, is on hold right now. Bad nightmares of the 1988 Fog Bowl are going through my head.

I see that several of you have PR's in your signature. I wanted to share mine with you. My last three or four races have yielded PR's.

Congratulations Howard. The wonders of training indeed. I remember when you squeezed your Goofy training into a 3-4 week period. Speaking of which, where's your Goofy PR?

Dave~

Hare are my two Goofy's... nothing to write home about. That will change in 2009 (hopefully).

Howard - Good to hear that you are recovering well.

Cindy - So, are you going to run 16 the day before Philly since it works so well for you?

You're a brave woman getting out this (I guess yesterday at this point) morning. This weather will feel great come February, but right now it's just damn cold!

Colleen - Kudos to you as well for 2hrs on the TM:scared: .

Jen - It sounds like you had lots of fun at ToT and WDW. Pictures would be great.

Jodi - Follow the Cindy B. plan and do the half. Just be sure to run 16 the day before! And maybe another 10 or 12 the next day. And 8 TempHo's the day after that.

Chester - Did you forget your login or password or something?

Dave, Sara, and Hummus Boy - Hey guys!

Lurkers - You know who you are. Everybody say something offensive about Jodi! It's fun! Come on, all the kids are doing it.

O.K., for the record I am slightly deflated. I figured I'd run the race Sunday, feel pretty much alright Monday and log a few easy Tuesday. Well, much to my surprise, the old quads had a different plan. They're feeling much better now and I'll give a couple of miles a try this evening.

The race was a lot of fun and worth every hobble down the steps.

Wednesdaybots

Mike - Sorry, but once again I'm glad to hear that you guys are AT LEAST a little sore, after such incredible efforts!;) You'll be fine with todays run, I'm sure.

Colleen - Ouch:headache: , watch that hip.

Colleen - Congrats on getting the 10 done! Are you doing a walk/run or just walk? Your pace seems pretty fast.:thumbsup2 I hope the yoga stretches your hip out.

Howard - nice PRs! I do love seeing the training pay off. However, the fact that you ran the Goofy so fast with such little training is amazing.

Mike - Seriously - the cold is terrible! I feel like I'm being such a wimp because I realize it's not really that cold. It must be the whole first cold spell of the season thing. I hope your first post marathon run goes well.

Lou - It seems like they'll play tonight, right?

:wave2: to everyone else!

Getting out of bed this morning was miserable. As I've probably mentioned before, Matt and I live on the 19th floor and I think the wind is louder up there. The wind was just howling against the window. Anyway, I got up and managed 9.6 miles (instead of 10). The speed work I did was 4 x 1200 meters at 5K race pace with 2 min jogs in between. I almost quit a number of times. It was so hard! And it was freezing. And dark. Just generally not happy to be running this morning. At the end of the speed work, I realized that running home would not get me to 10 miles but decided that I didn't really care, hence the 9.6.

I can not wait for DST to be over! Its gotten to the point now where it barely is starting to get light by the time I am finished my runs.

Cindy - OK, the word maniacal comes to mind immediately & I'm starting to think that I should be a bit afraid of you!:scared1: 10 miles this a.m.??? Honestly, it's quite disturbing  . I have to ask now, what time did you get up?

Personally, after work, I think she should strap on those runners and get that 0.4 of a mile she missed this morning. :snooty:

Slacker!:hyper:

Cindy, a walked 1 mile/ran 1/2 mile for the 10 miles yesterday. I wasn't that tired, but my hip/knee started to become irritated. I couldn't keep it up for 26 miles.

Jodi, I plan to do my 20 next MOnday and see what kind of walk/run intervals happen that day. :confused3

Hey, guys! How are you all today?
Can I ask a HUGE favor? I am planning to make homemade sauce this weekend and freeze it for Philly weekend and am trying to get a handle on how many we will be feeding ultimately. You don't have to commit now if you aren't sure yet; I'm just doing a preliminary head count. :goodvibes:

I need EVERYONE to PM me with the subject -- Philly Carb Loading and provide the following information (just cut and paste the questions into a PM and put your answers there):

1. Are you coming to our house for lasagna dinner on 11/22? (please say "YES!")

2. How many are in your "party"?

3. Do you need assistance with transportation issues?

4. Does 4:00 arrival at our house work for you (we are about 25-30 minutes south of center city philly)?

5. Do you eat meat? I can do a tray or two of non-meat lasagna, if there are some who prefer just noodles, cheese and sauce.

6. Any food allergies I need to know about?

Thanks, everyone! I am so excited about seeing all of you in just 3 weeks!! :grouphug: :cloud9:

I've been afraid for quite some time:rolleyes1 , especially with the LR's before work:scared1: .

Go Phillies!!!:cheer2: :yay:

Cam - You're so funny...can we do YOU a "huge favor"? Please, you're doing US the huge favor with such an invitation. I'll PM you my particulars, and thanks  .

Howard - I think it's safe to say you are the fastest MBA in Delaware. Pretty amazing that you'll be running 3 marathons in about 3 months.

Mike - You're probably better off waiting another day. If it is as cold in OH as it is here you are doing your quads a favor by staying inside an extra day.

Colleen - Have fun at yoga and nice job with the 10. I have the same question as Howard, are you walk/running Philly?

Cindy - Nice job getting in 9.6 during the week. I feel guilty reading about all your miles. I think I may have to run 10 tomorrow because I have really slacked this month. Looks like there will be a game tonight.

Cam - I'll PM you.

Sara - Thanks for the good vibes.

Hello to everyone else!

Got in 4 miles this morning. It was actually not as cold as I expected. Either that or I am still in a numb haze since Monday night.

Just met with my accountant and he was at Game 5a on Monday and will be at Game 5b tonight. He said he was never so cold or depressed in his life. We both prayed for a win.

Not sure what to do or how to approach tonight. I'm not too superstitious but Nicole is. She's the type that will sit during the Eagles game and not move from that spot if we score a touchdown. We are debating whether we should go back into Philly to watch the game at my sister's tonight or hang at home. I think we offended the baseball gods on Monday by assuming a celebration was eminent. Today I think the plan may be to lay low.

Lou
