Lou wrote: Howard - If you meet my wife this weekend don't mention those dance lessons. She has been dying to take lessons ever since Dancing with Stars. I find reasons to get out of it. I saw a few days ago that you ran a 5-minute mile or something. Can I tie a skateboard to you and drag along for the PDR?

Lou~ First, I have never run or probably even driven a 5-minute mile. If there are reports of that here, they are greatly exaggerated. I think this has grown to almost urban legend status. I hope that I haven’t written checks (with my training) that my body can’t cash this Sunday. I will do my best and hope to PR, other than that, there are no land-speed guarantees from me. By the way, the only dragging will be me dragging my bottom over the finish line.

Second, I hope that you will use common sense in your decision to run this Sunday. If you do and feel like it is going to hell in a hand-basket quickly, please dial it back and save yourself for the bigger races on your fall schedule. There will be other PDR’s for you to kick some a$$.

Third, I didn’t have any set plans for meeting up with the group on Sunday morning. However, since I am seeing most of them (and they might read this since I’ll copy this on to the PDR thread), I’ll suggest we meet near there pre and post race to say hello, give some high 5’s, and the usual pre and post race encouragement only WISHers seem to know how to do. I am really looking forward to meeting you.

Cindy wrote: Howard - I seem to remember from a few posts back that our half PRs are within seconds of each other. I'm hoping that I have a shot at knocking a few seconds off of mine, but with the training runs you've been doing, you seem to be setting yourself up to kill yours! I'm so happy that it looks like the weather will cooperate.

Cindy~ I am looking forward to the beautiful day that is forecast for Sunday. It will be exciting at the end of the race to see how everyone did. I hope that if you are seeking a PR, that you get it.

See you both on Sunday!

Hey, Mike! My only plans this fall are for lots of working out (running, weight training, crunches, pushups, personal trainer sessions), planning a wedding, and training to RUN the Disney Half Marathon. I am pretty astonished to finally find myself the runner that I never even fantasized about being, but I absolutely LOVE it, and even moreso now as the weather cools down considerably. I have the Breast Cancer 5k in October and will find several more 5ks between now and January, but will start the MfM training plan for the half in the next week or two. :yay: Thanks for asking!

To all of the PDR folks - WWWAAAAHHHHH!!!!:sad1: I will definitely be there in spirit this weekend as you all accomplish your goals:cheer2: :grouphug:

Lou - DO NOT risk further damage to the leg:scared: . Yes, I realize this comes from a girl who ran two marathons on a torn meniscus:rotfl2: but please learn from my mistakes and bag PDR if you have to:hug: . Just to put the fear of God in you, if you do further damage and have to have surgical intervention as a result, Philly most likely is out for you and you'll NEVER hear the end of it from any of us:rolleyes1 .

Cam - Now that you're sucked in on this thread we wholly anticipate you hanging with us for the duration:hug:  . Have fun in Philly this weekend and do the WISH scream team proud:grouphug: .

Mike - In case I haven't mentioned it as of late, I always appreciate the comic relief your posts provide:thumbsup2 . Personally, I don't give a hoot if you comment on running any:rolleyes1

Jodi - Yeah, I kind of guessed that about Cindy but thanks for the first hand report:hippie: . Hows' the Yeti taper goingpopcorn:: ?

Colleen - Do you have those flights situated yet:rolleyes1 ? I also vote for Monday since I am leaning towards a Monday departure myself;) .

I got a really good 5 in this morning in the pitch dark 40 degree weather. I think the cold just numbs me enough to make it feel better:lmao: . Have a wonderful weekend guys:grouphug:

Drive by.

PDR People. I'll try to be at the Rocky statue to meet up pre race (unless I otherwise need to stand in the port o pottie line).

Lou - Everyone has already given you good advice. If you do run, just make sure you listen to your body and drop out (or at least walk) if you need to.

I'm getting excited. I'm kind of hoping for a PR (current PR is 1:59:24) but trying not to get my hopes up too much. (Although as I was getting ready this morning, I was running around the condo singing "PR at the PDR". What can I say? I'm weird)

OK, that's slightly disturbing...will you put that on your resume? ;)

:rotfl:

Good one. And btw, I didn't dislike the guy as much as I thought I would, although I did ask him why being a Homecoming King Finalist was important to him (my tactful way of asking why the heck it was on his resume) and his answer was pretty stupid (something about it being reallly great to be on the court with 4 really other great guys and that it was great to be nominated by other students - whatever! - still doesn't tell me why you thought it made sense to put it on your resume when you are applying for a job as an attorney.)

Oh Crap!:scared: I just entered the Disney marathon.:scared1:

I don't even have my flights booked for Philly nor have I entered Philly marathon. I guess I got freaked out seeing it was 95% full. :sad2:

Can't wait to hear what DH is going to say.

:lmao: :woohoo: :dance3: :yay: Can you dial my # & discreetly hide the phone somewhere when you tell him? popcorn::

Mike - C'mon, you look good in bright green, how bad can an orange jumpsuit be? BTW, I HAVE been running so there! I even have 14 scheduled for tomorrow :lmao: Doesn't surprise me you're caught in a 666 pattern for running :scared1: .

Sara - Yeti tapering it terrific ;) , I think I've mastered that particular part of training! Sign up for Philly yet?:rolleyes1 Nice job on that fiver this a.m.

Howard, Lou & Cindy & anyone else going - Have fun @ the PDR!! WISH I was going, too!:guilty: Lou, please be careful...maybe just go screamteam & party on the sidelines??? You REALLY don't want me telling you "I told you so" for the rest of time!

Colleen~ :cool1: :thumbsup2  :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: I found my running partner! Wooo Hooo! Just kidding... I don't want to hold you back. :goodvibes

I ran my last run prior to the Philadelphia Distance Run tonight. Here are my stats:

Miles: 5.02
Time: 48:14
Pace: 9:37

Splits:
9:24
9:47
9:30
9:35
9:45

As you can probably tell, I tried to take it easy. Most osf my recent runs have been in the 8's with a few sub-8's thrown in for kicks.

There you have it. Another example of a woman going for a bunch of fluff in a pretty package. Wait, I probably shouldn't mention his package:scared1: . Anyways... Good thing we males are immune to such things.

Doesn't surprise me you're caught in a 666 pattern for running :scared1: .
ChiChi - Quite appropriate considering most of my runs have been hell lately.

Good luck on your 14 miles. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun. Maybe you'll get to taser a squirrel or something!

Colleen - Yippee for signing up for WDW. You'll be all trained up for Philly so keeping it up for January will be no problem.

Cam - I love your enthusiasm and am very happy that you are pleased with your progress. Be sure to keep us updated on how the training is going.

Sara - Glad to provide any comic relief that I can. I was hunting through some old posts looking for something the other day and I have to admit, I was funnier in the spring. I guess I need to work on some new material. Maybe I'll just have to start picking on Jodi some more. That's always worth a laugh or two (only because she can take it and dish it back double).

Alas, no chance to run for me today (or tomorrow) (or maybe Sunday). I'll just call it taper for PDR by proxy.

Speaking of PDR, good luck to all you "PR at the PDR" seekers and those hoping not to do more damage. I hope you have fun and can't wait to hear all about it.

Hi Everyone: I decided not to run today. My hip's been bugging me all week, and I still have a small limp. I wanted to WISH everyone good luck at the PDR tomorrow. Rock the course everyone!

Just picked up my PDR bib. What a nice day! Hopefully we get this weather again tomorrow.

I think I'll be fine for tomorrow. Thanks for the concern everyone.

After getting my stuff I drove down to the Art Museum and decided I would try to run 2 miles to see how I feel. The whole area is set up for the race so that was cool. The first 1/4 mile felt like I was running on rusty joints but I took it fairly slow (10 mpm pace). Once I got onto West River Drive (which will be Mile 5 tomorrow) the pain mostly went away. I had full range of motion and knew I could run faster if I had too but just jogged the 2 miles and came back.

I was stiff when i got back but I stretched and so far I feel okay. The hip still hurts worse than the knee but I think I'll be fine for tomorrow.

By the way...I thought the expo was WEAK. However, it's hard to compare the DL 1/2 to this in terms of the production. The PDR course will be WAY better than DL.

I'll check in tomorrow!

Lou

Good luck tomorrow with the PDR tomorrow everyone!! Can't wait to see how ya'll did!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: You guys have a perfect day in store weather-wise...go for it!!

Hi! I just returned home from the PDR Expo and dinner with some WISHers! Kira and her HD, Anne and Bob, Terri, Karen and John, Cindy and Matt, and my DW, Cam.

The Expo was weak, but not too bad. I've seen most of the vendors at other Expos. I thought it was funny to see Bath Fitter, Dial-a Number matresses and Power Windows and Siding there though. :confused3 Maybe they were there from a previous Expo and just stayed? :confused3

We had dinner in Chinatown at a place called David's something another.

I am going to turn in early. We will be meeting most if the crew (and Lou) near Rocky tomorrow at about 7 AM (+/-). The race starts at 7:45 AM.

I am looking forward to it, but I am having some pre-race nerves as usual. I will do my best, come what may. I am prepared and ready for the challenge.

Have a great night! I will post results tomorrow night!

Howard

Good Morning Teammates:

Welcome mla1977- It's great to have someone new on the team!!! Let us know how your training is going.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Good luck again to all our PDR racers. Go for those PRs at PDR!

Lou, Howard, Cindy - good luck! I can't wait to hear how everything goes!

Cam- You have a fun day too. I can't wait to see you at the Philly Marathon. Definitely keep us up to date on your training. It's always great to hear from you.

Colleen- How did DH react to you signing up for the WDW Marathon? That's not going to change you signing up for Philly will it? Did you decide on your plane ticket after Philly? My vote would be for the later flight...

Mike- How are things going? Did you end up running this weekend? Are you not running because of work, injury, or what? Too much Optimator?

Jodi- Have you signed up for Philly yet? How did your 14 miler go? I'm excited for the Yeti! Next weekend... yahoooooo! It's going to be fun...

Sara- You're doing really well with your runs. Great job. It sounds like you are managing your arthritis (is it your knees or hip?). Did you sign up for the Philly marathon? How are you getting to Philly? Are you flying or driving?

Bill- Thanks for checking in. Great to hear from you. What are you training for these days?

Hello Chester- are you wearing your Yeti costume for next weekend?

Howdy SilverSteve- How are things going for you up in Maine?

As far as the Philly dinner goes at Howard and Cam's, I may be driving solo from Rochester, NY to Philly. So if I do, I would have room to take people down to Wilmington.

OK, I'm taking off.

GO STEELERS!!!!!

I'm checking the PDR live results. I wish I could remember more last names...

Howard- You had an AWESOME time!!! Can I run with you for the Philly Marathon? Although, I'm not sure I can keep up with you.

Cindy- I think I found your time too. WTG!!! I'd love to run with you as well... Whoa, Matt is super-speedy.

Lou- How did things go for you?

I just got home from the PDR. 1:45:35...a new PR by 2.5 minutes!! :cool1: That's my Garmin time (see times below). For some reason my race time is not showing on the board. Not sure why?

I know you may think I was talking smack about my knee and hip but I was really unable to run as recently as Thursday...seriously. I mean I couldn't jog three steps on a soccer field. 3 weeks ago I was being push around the DL finish in a wheel chair. Not running for a week was key and I also focused real hard on my ChiRunning form.

I think good weather and adrenaline a lot to do with my race too. This is probably the best I have ever felt post any race. No knee or hip pain at all.

I saw Howard, Cam, Cindy, and Matt along with a bunch of other WISHers. There was a nice showing of WISH people at the PDR. This is a great race to run.

I'm heading for a hot bath for the next 30 minutes then it's on to an engagement party (I'll be hiding in a room watching the Eagles).

GO EAGLES!

Lou
