Lou- That's an awesome time! Congratulations! I did find your name on the results page, and they didn't list any time. I was worried you were hurting too much to actually start. Turns out you were running too fast to be registered! WTG! That's awesome.

Now remember -

GO STEELERS!!!

Hello All,

Congratulations PDR runners!

Lou: congrats on the PR! Considering how bad your knee has been lately, you were really flying!

Howard: I haven't checked PDR results yet, but congrats on the PR in the Half you ran in NY. And thanks so much to you and Cam for the pre-Philly dinner offer.

Cindy: You are cranking on the mileage; congratulations. Hey, if the Homecoming King Finalist is pretty, just hire him for office eye candy. ;) (Seriously, listing that on a resume? What a dumb-@&s.)

Colleen: Congrats in signing up for Disney; now how about signing up for the Philly race you are doing in 9 weeks? :) As for post-Philly meet plans, I don't know yet whether I can stay or I have to get back.

Mike: How's the quad doing, my man? Remember, you can always shoot any questions you have my way; but of course you have access to drugs at work, so you are probably doing fine.

Jodi: I got a little jealous reading your Yeti itinerary; sounds like a great weekend you have planned. How'd the 14-miler go? And "sneakers" rather than "running shoes?" (I say that as well; must be a New England thang.)

Sara: Oh well, I've lost a Half-buddy for Nov. in Philly. Seriously though, if you are going to do the run-walk thing, pick up a Jeff Galloway book--he really helped save my knees at Disney last year. Congratulations to your DD; my DD10 did locks of love last June; it makes you very proud. :goodvibes

Dave: Great job on the Rochester Half! Sounds like a nice race right in the 'ole backyard. I hope your hip is doing well. And I may take you up on the shuttle ride offer to Howard and Cam's in Nov. :thumbsup2

Chester: Howdy; hope the sinus condition is cooperating. Were you also doing the Yeti? If so, good luck.

Hi Cam :wave2:

OK guys, did 6 today and the achilles feels OK so far :woohoo: ! After running only 8 miles between April and Sept., I have logged 25 in the last 9 days. As long as things progress well, I'll be there at the Half start line in Philly. On another note, I am coaching DD5's soccer team (soccer is the sport with the plaid ball, right?); I'm happy to report the Penguins rallied from a two-goal deficit yesterday to tie the always strong Puffin team.:thumbsup2 Next week's dreaded opponent: the Ladybugs. :rotfl:

Sorry if I missed anyone; I have to go get DS8 at flag football. Take care all.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the nice words of congratulations! I had a great race and it was great to meet Lou (and family), Kira, Cindy, Matt, Jen and Butch (her DH) and to see Pat, Anne, Robert, Karen, John, and Terri again.

I printed out a wrist bracelet last night for pacing and set my goal to be 1:50. I missed it by only 8 seconds!!!

Overall, I BEAT MY PR in a half marathon by: 9 minutes, 25 seconds!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I pushed the pace the whole race and passed a lot of people during the run. I made only two running water stops and never stopped along the course. I am not only very happy with my results and new PR, but I am happy with my effort today. I am feeling he affects of my efforts this evening, but it is well worth it.

Next up: Marine Corps Marathon, then Philly. :thumbsup2

Have a good night! Thanks again!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard: Great run! :thumbsup2 Congratulations on the race and the PR (by a huge margin)! Tremendous effort; rest well, you earned it.

PR at the PDR...EAGLES win!!!...Phillies win!!!...Mets lose...I wish this day could go on forever.

Howard - Great job on the PR!! You crushed your previous time.

I'm kinda bummed that my chip didn't work. If you run a PR race it would be nice for it to be official. I sent in a request to have it reviewed so we'll see.

Still, it was a great sports day in Philadelphia!!!

Lou

Being at the PDR today to scream team was awesome! It was so great to see everyone and kudos to all our WISH finishers. Sending a huge shout out to one of my personal heroes, Anne (MaherAE) who has put her personal life on hold to help a sick family member and toughed it out today with a HUGE smile and indomitable spirit.
I have lots of pix that I am posting in a new thread.

Yeah Howard! Wonderful performance!

Oh Cam, I can't wait to see the pictures. I hope Anne is doing alright. You are so right, she always has a huge smile.

Hi all! Quick post - Got to get some stinky clothes out of my bag and get some stuff ready for work tomorrow. I'll post more tomorrow. Matt and I just got home.

Lou, Howard, and Cam - I'm sorry we couldn't stay at the race to see everyone finish, but we had plans to meet up with Matt's uncle (who lives just outside Philly) and his aunt (who is visiting from Australia). It was great to meet all of you.

Howard - I'm sorry we never found you at the W area after we spoke. We checked over there a couple of times before we left and our timing must have been off. And once again - congrats! That is an amazing PR - I'm so happy for you!

Lou - Congrats! I'm glad that your leg is feeling better. That sucks about the stupid D tag. Hopefully, in the end you should be able to get an official time because they probably had cameras at the end that they can review for the finish.

Matt and I both got PRs today! I finished in 1:58:10, which is a PR by 1 minute and 14 seconds. I really struggled in the last few miles and really had to push myself to not slow down (and I did have fairly even splits), so I am really happy with the result. Matt finished in 1:42:43, which is almost a 5 minute PR for him. He is really happy, especially after he had such a bad race in NYC.

More tomorrow!

Holy PR Day Batman!

The streets of Philly must still be smoking! You all were tearing it up!

Lou - It's great that your knee felt/feels fine. An official time would be nice but either way, you know what you did.

And let me just say it's very tough being a Browns fan anytime, but an 0-3 start with the schedule they have this year :scared: :sad1:

Howard - Now that's what I call CRUSHING a PR! We all saw that one coming though. I guess there really is something to this training stuff.

Cindy - Fabulous that you kept pushing even when you were tired. You've worked really hard and earned the great result. Pass a big congrats on to Matt as well. I'm sure he's very pleased.

Steve - Wow! That's a lot of miles after a long layoff. I'm glad you're feeling good.

Go Penguins! My own DD5 was traded from the Yellow Sunshine to the Red Dragons for cash and a player to be named later (actually we just wanted practice to be on Tuesdays).

Dave - No LR this weekend due to sleepover, sick kid, soccer, work, church, and the need for a few hours of sleep. Not a recreational beverage in sight.

Howdy to everyone else.

Bill- Thanks for checking in. Great to hear from you. What are you training for these days?

Dave - I'm supposed to be training for the Rock and Roll San Antonio in November but due to illness, weather and other odd things haven't gotten in all the long runs I am supposed to.

Lou - Great job on the PDR. That is an awesome time.

Colleen - Glad you signed up for WDW. We knew you couldn't stay away. ;)

Howard - Great job as well. You are going to have a great race season this year.

Bill

HI everyone! I didn't do the race, and unfortunately I was stuck in traffic on my way into the city so I didn't get a chance to look for anyone before my tickets to see Real Pirates at the Franklin Institute. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet people in November.

I'm also signed up for a 5k in Phoenixville on October 25. Is anyone else doing that or interested in joining me?

Colleen - Glad you signed up for WDW. We knew you couldn't stay away. ;)

Bill

Ah Bill, you know me SO well!:rotfl:

Congratulations on your PR too Cindy!! :worship: :cool1:

OK, with all this excitement with the race and WISH meets this past weekend, I just went ahead and Purchased my flights for Philly!!!!! :scared: :yay:  :scared1: Ah, so I guess I am going, now I have to decide on which race. I have 15 planned for next Monday, so that will the day I decide, (or maybe Tuesday when I feel the effects of the LR.)

Off to yoga, back later.

Ah, stuck in traffic! I think I had that nightmare once. Which race are you thinking about in November?

Theta - I'm signed up for the 8k. I'm slowly working my way up to the Princess half. I need to find something between 8k and a half for December or January. I figure that is the best way to keep myseld on track.

I left my house around 9:15 and figured I'd get to the city soon enough to hang out and watch some of the people coming back from the race (no problem with Eagles traffic). Unfortunately, PennDOT had both lanes on 76 closed in both directions and cars were only able to get by on the shoulder. Grr! All that because I missed the traffic report by 10 seconds.

Mike - Being a Philadelphia sports fan is tough...being a Cleveland fan may be tougher.

Cindy - Great seeing you and Matt at the start. You guys both did a great job. So much easier running in cool/dry weather. I'm sure I'll catch up with you guys again at Philly.

Colleen - So you are all in for Philly now! Very nice.

Here are some post race thoughts/comments...

I feel great! Very minimal knee and hip pain. Mostly stiff muscles that will be fine in a few days. I'll train for Philly now and I'll try to take it easy.

The PDR is a great race and great course. With the exception of the hill at Falls Bridge it's basically a flat course and it's wide open for the last 8 miles. Since I run this course a few times a month it was easy for me to gage how much energy I could burn the last 4 miles.

I was a little disappointed at the Expo and the medal. Last year both were bigger and there was no ING sponsor. Figures, they bring in a bank and have no money to spend. Last year the medal was about 25-50% bigger. They also had soft pretzels at the finish last year. Come on ING, bagels are not Philly! Buck up next year and get the pretzels.

The kids races were great! DD and DS loved the 7-9 yr old 1-miler. The medals for the kids races were actually real medals, unlike the rubber ones they got at DL. I guess ING is marketing to the kids more than the adults.

Also, what was up with the bands? The Eagles Fight Band was the best (IMHO) but after that it seemed like a bunch of high school garage bands. Pretty bad when the bag pipe guy on the Falls Bridge ends up being one of the best acts on the course. Next year I'll plug my ears with cotton before I listen to that noise.

Can't wait for Philly!

Looking out on the horizon, I have my eyes on the VA Beach Shamrock Marathon in March 2009. Runners on Marathonguide.com rate that race very high. We have friends in VA BEach so I have a place to stay that weekend. Plus, any race with Yeungling as a sponsor has my attention. Anyone else see this as a spring possibility???

Lou

YEAH on the PR's all around:cool1:  :yay: :cheer2:

Lou - When I saw you didn't have a finish time on Sunday I nearly called Cam's cell to make sure you were okay:rolleyes1 . Glad you had a great race and are feeling fine:thumbsup2

Colleen - Congrats for booking your flights:banana: !! What's up with the WDW registration:laughing: ? Does that mean we're sharing a room:hippie: .

Moving is really h#** and I haven't sat down in 3 days. No running to speak of but definitely loads of cross-training and I'm pretty banged up to boot:confused3 . Back to work tomorrow (DD11 is sick today:wizard: ) so I'm hoping to catch up with y'all then and actually have some running to report:yay: .

Uuugh, sorry you have to dealing with the moving. It must really stink this time around too. WISHing you lots of strength... :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

PR BOTS!! :yay: :woohoo: :grouphug:

For all of you who ran on Sunday :worship: :worship: :worship: I am so happy & in awe of all of your performances!

Cindy - Glad you once again beat your PR & so happy that Matt had a better time than NYC! Good for you, you've been training so hard!

HalliLouya! - You finished the race, PRd AND have to ill effects, too freakin' cool...AND the Eagles won, wow, what a day!! Sorry the medal's beat! b/c as we know, it's ALL about the bling!

Howard - Smashing PRs BIG time, nice job, man!! Sounds like your ramped up training has seriously paid off...DANG, that ruins my theory on "pushin" myself during runs ;) . Nice job!

Dave - Roethlessberger is a weenie  . We'll be @ the Yeti in no time, aren't you leaving tomorrow? How's the hip.

Hummus - WOW, too glad you're putting the miles in & relatively pain free. Go real easy, please! I'm so excited you signed up for PHilly, guess I should do that too, soon!:rolleyes1

Theta - And glad to see you're in for PHilly too...so you may just do the 1/2, eh???? I'm wondering if I'd have more fun (read more time to drink afterward) if I ran 13, too!

Mike - Glad you're on board with me with the whole "training's overrated" mindset!

Sara - Sorry you're banged up from moving & that you're having to move in the first place...and so it goes...Hope the little one gets better, must be going around in the house, eh?

I ran 12 on Sat (thought I was supposed to run 14 but much to my delight & surprise realized I was a wee ahead) & it felt great. Nice & cool out, pushed the last 2 miles & the last one was sub 9 (which is like gold medal territory for me  ). So am inspired for the moment. Woke up @ the buttcrack & ran 5 this a.m. (not w/o a JodiStop after mile 1 though)! Heading for the Yeti on Thurs. but also eyeing some tropical depression lingering out there somewhere...WTH???

Hi everyone!

OK, I did it. After finishing the PDR with so many of you great people yesterday, I just couldn't stand to wait until January for another one. So I just registered to do the Philly Half Marathon! :thumbsup2 I guess I'm a glutton for punishment!

I have been very bad with keeping up with threads lately, but I will try very hard to check in here from time to time.

See you all in November!
