Lou - :worship: Awesome run, especially in the humidity!!

Howard - Nice pace on the 5 miles and I hope your 6 today are just as sweet:cool1: . Thanks for letting us know about Cam's race yesterday and glad it all went well despite the weather conditions:thumbsup2 .

Colleen - Travel safe, have a magical time and we MISS you:hug: . Glad you're having a wonderful, busy time with the kids this summer but please don't forget to check in with us sporadically so we don't worry about youpopcorn:: .

Cindy - I bet you already knew a good run can solve anything that life throws your way :goodvibes . So glad you felt better post-run and I do hope you're hanging in there:hug: .

Dave - Are you back from the World yetpopcorn:: ?

Everyone else - :wave2:

I got in 8 miles yesterday and I am feeling okay this morning:yay: . I am going to find some cross-training to do today:cheer2: .

Have a great Sunday:grouphug:

Sara - I didn't know you were thinking of signing up for the PDR - cool! Are you still going to do the half in November? Just saw that you just posted - 8 miles already? I hope you are being careful!

Lou and Howard - I'm glad you survived your runs - the weather is terrible.

Colleen - I hope you have a great vacation!

As for me, I ran my 5 mile "recovery" run yesterday (this means I was supposed to run really slow). It was hot but I managed to get up early so it was bearable. Last night we went to a DC United game and tailgated before the game. Did you know that people tailgate before MLS games? I had no idea until last night. So a combination of a few too many beers and staying out fairly late meant that I didn't get up this morning until the heat index was already 90. I'm supposed to run 13 miles today. I don't think it's going to happen. I'm probably pretty dehydrated, so I don't think it's really safe to try to run 13 miles in this weather. I think I'm going to try getting up at 4:30 tomorrow and run before work. That throws off my whole plan for the week leading up to the NYC Half on Sunday, but after weighing all of my options, it seems to make the most sense.

Have a good week everyone. I hope I get to check in, but I'm expecting a crazy week at work and houseguests at home:eek:

Good Morning PhillyBots!!

Seems as if everyone is in a posting mood this a.m., so who am I to break the chain??

Sara - WOW, 8 miles!!?? Good for you!! Talk about returning with a vengence! No easing into it for you, eh??:rotfl: Glad there are no ill side effects, that is awesome news. So happy things are finally falling into place for you, sister!:thumbsup2

Colleen - Glad that you're still alive, I figured someone would have let us know if it were otherwise :lmao: . Glad the summer is bringing good times your way, have fun on your remote-vacation destination w/o internet access!! .

Dave - Waiting to hear all about your trip to the World & about your dining review w/ Kevin. I heard you on the call-in show! :goodvibes .

Chester - Are you still with us??

Howard - Nice job on the 5 & glad Cam had a good run. Did you get your 6 in yet today?

Lou - 13 miles in that heinous weather yesterday??? :worship: Holy crap, dude, that's insane!! Nice job!!:thumbsup2 Wish I could make it down for PDR! Been hitting up your SIL for pool privileges lately?;)

Mike - So cute DD is running with you now  , i love it! Are you gonna bring the "posse" to WDW this Jan & sign them up for the 5k? How's running?

Cindy - NYC, baby!! Whoooooo :woohoo: I'll PM you with my cell this week sometime...we'll definitely have to meet up @ the starting line  ...are you getting pumped up, or what?? When are you arriving?? If the weather is anything like this weekend's weather it's going to be a loooong run for me :guilty: . Glad you feel a bit better after your run & hope the other kitties are coping...

I ran a cheesy 3 miles on Fri, CT w/ 3 hours of yard work yesterday & ran 5 this a.m. (walked last 1/4 mile). I won't bi*ch about the weather 'cause everyone knows how well I deal with the heat & humidity. I'm hoping that it clears out just a tad for next weekend's 1/2.:rolleyes1

Cindy - We must have posted @ the same time. Oh Puh-lease!! Forget about that 13 mile run today...just write it off & don't try & make it up tomorrow. Why screw up a whole week's worth of already laid-out training??

Because I am annoyed at myself for the poor decisions I made last night and must punish myself.:rolleyes1 It won't really mess my schedule up that much - perhaps I'm being a bit over dramatic. I have a scheduled 10 miler on Thursday that I was going to run on Wednesday instead to give myself extra rest before the half. It just means I'll have to run it on Thursday after all. I still plan on taking Friday and Saturday as full rest days, so it won't really make that much difference.

Hi Sara, Jodi, Lou, Mike, Cindy, Colleen, Chester, etc....!

Lou~ I would enjoy running the PDR course sometime before the race if possible. I looked at the course online today. It looks like it should be scenic. I hope we get good weather.

I just got back from a storm shortened run. I went out about 9:30 PM and had to head back when lighting and rain moved in. I managed the following:

Miles: 5.07
Time: 46:53
Pace: 9:19

Splits:
8:48
9:07
8:59
9:31
9:53

Before everyone jumps all over me for running at 9:30 PM, I ran on mostly deserted neighborhood streets, sidewalks and in parking lots that were lit. I also wore a yellow 3M Scotchbright waistbelt that firemen wear--- very reflective. I was very safe! Besides, I only had to run 6 miles. Not 10 or more... I would never do a really LR at night (unless it was the ToT). :rotfl:

I think my pace was a bit faster than it would have been given the thunder and lightening in the distance and it getting closer. I finished my run in the rain. The heavy stuff came 3 minutes after I was safely inside.

I only run at night if there was no way to get it in during the day.

I ran a total of just over 24 miles this week! Pretty amazing! I can feel most of them right now. I think I'm getting old or something.

Have a great week!

:grouphug:

Drive by.
I did it - 13 miles this morning. It was already 74 degrees before 5 AM:scared1:
Jodi - Looks like this heat wave isn't supposed to go away before this weekend, I think we're in for a hot one.

Holy crap!!!! I can't believe you ran 13 miles this a.m.:worship: You are SO my hero!!

Holy Crap!!! I can't believe it's going to be 90 & humid this weekend!:scared1: . I'm holding out for a huge cold front coming through at the end of the week. Have faith  . Think I may start going to church the next few days :rolleyes1 ...popcorn:: ...

Good Morning Everyone: I'm baaaaaaaack...

We got back late last night. I'm beat. We had a great trip though. It was so fun and relaxing. Now I'm having "Daddy Camp" with my girls while I do laundry and such. I'll post more later. Hope everyone is well.

Hey Buds!

Dave - Welcome back! We expect a full trip report shortly.

Cindy - 13 miles is just a bit much. You're getting a little too hard core for me. Don't forget you have a race coming up. A little taper is in order.

Howard - I get a fair amount of my miles in the late evening and I know Chester goes out really late sometimes. Sometimes it just works out better with the schedule. Don't forget to rest when your body tells you to.

Sara - What's the deal with 8 miles?? Aren't you still supposed to be taking it easy?

Think I may start going to church the next few days :rolleyes1 ...popcorn:: ...
Jodi - Just watch out it the priest starts flinging Holy Water your way. That stuff BURNS!!

I got out for 8 miles this morning. I will reconfirm Cindy's statement about it being hot. But, it is July. What else would you expect?

Have a cool one.

9:30 is not late. That's my typical starting time for weekday runs. I will run up to 8 miles on my weekday night runs and finish with a little "chunky dunking" in the pool before heading off to bed.

Today is the Official start of my Philly training schedule. I'm going to be following the Hal Higdon Intermediate I program. First run will be tomorrow night at 9:30 for 3 miles.

How can my lunch hour be over already?

I wanted to report that my XT day was "XT-ey". I went to the YMCA tonight with DS. I managed 3.37 miles on the stationary bike. I was over three minutes ahead of the pacer when I finished. I lifted weights with my DS for 15 minutes and used the elliptical XT machine to the tune of 3.1 miles in 26.5 minutes.

I ran in excess of 24 miles in training this week! :thumbsup2 I guess I ain't dead just yet. :lmao:

Tomorrow an easy 3 miles before work (if not after work). :confused3

Happy training athletes!

:grouphug:

Jodi - Of course I hit the SIL's pool on Sat and Sun. Gotta get in all the free swimming I can get. Nice job on the cheesy runs and XT. I wish I could say the weather will get better I think we are in for a lot more hazy/hot/humid days.

Howard - I usually run in Philly every other weekend on so. Let me know if you ever want to come into the city and run. I usually park for free at the Art Museum and take off from there. I have never run with anyone before so don't be upset if I can't carry on a conversation and run at the same time. Nice job get 24 miles in last week.

Cindy - 13 miles on a Monday...very nice. How did you hold up at work all day after the 13? I would be sleeping at my desk after 13 miles.

Dave - Welcome back!

Mike - Another person getting in some serious miles on a Monday. Nice job!

Chester - Good luck with the training program. "Chunky dunking"?

Hey Sara, Steve, Colleen and anyone else I missed.

No running for me yesterday or today. I'm a little sore from Saturday's LR and decided to take a day or 2 off. I'll be in Philly tomorrow morning and Villanova tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking to squeeze in a run sometime tomorrow early evening near my old Swarthmore College neighborhood.

Starting to get psyched about the DL 1/2 for the first time. 13 miles in dry conditions should be cake after 5 more weeks running in this soupy weather.

Lou

A quick drive-by to post my training from this morning:

Miles: 3.01
Time: 28:05
Pace: 9:19

Splits:
9:22
9:49
8:52

Lou~ I would love to make that work... meeting you at the Art Museum for a LR sometime before the PDR. You'll probably have to slow way down for me though. :confused3 I'll get back to you on it soon.

Hi to all! Have a great day everyone!

OH MY!! :lmao:

Hey Bots.....

Lou - A few days off is a good call, I'm excited for you, going off to do the DL 1/2 & all  You're gonna have a blast. I haven't been to DL in about 15 years or so! No "Chunky Dunking" in the SIL pool, eh? :rolleyes1

Howard - That's some serious mileage, bro...save some training for the marathon :thumbsup2 .

Michael - Nice job on the 8 miler!! I'll watch myself in church...not sure I'll even make it through the door without incident  . What's wrong with Cindy?, running 13 miles?? :confused3

Cindy - Getting ready?:woohoo: :cheer2: I'm so psyched!

Dave - Welcome back!! I'll be waiting for your report...:rolleyes1 Will you be posting that before or after your detailed account of the Pirate & Princess Party you attended sometime earlier this year?:rotfl:

Hi to all I missed or intentionally skipped b/c I'm harboring some ill-feelings towards you.

Ran 3 miles this a.m. (WOW) & had to go take a class in QuickBooks :teacher: up in Hartford for the day. Part deux is tomorrow, I just hope I don't pass out after lunch again popcorn:: Hey man, that crap is boring!!

Howard - We'll have to figure out a day. Your last 2 runs were at a 9:19 pace which is fine. My training plan says I should be running my LR's at 9:17 so we should be good to go. I may have to slow you down.

Hey All!

Just a quick post. I decided to bag the Swarthmore College run today and ran 5 easy miles in Philly instead. I hit the Art Museum steps at Mile 2.5 and, man, I never saw so many people running the steps at one time. It was pretty cool.

Ironically, earlier in the day I was waiting in an office lobby for a meeting and the following book was on the table: http://www.amazon.com/Rocky-Stories-Happiness-Americas-Famous/dp/1589880293/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216775698&sr=8-1

:lmao: I guess I'll consider myself lucky that I didn't get passed over on your post!

Good luck staying upright at your class today.

Chester - I love ya man, but the image of your white hiney glowing in the moonlight is one I could do without. :scared1:

I know I had other things to say, but meaningful thoughts and visions of Chester's bare bum can't seem to coexist in my head right now.

I'm off to do some mind cleansing meditation before I retire for a fitfull day's sleep.

WTH does THAT mean:rolleyes1 :rotfl: ?! You KNOW I'll come scream team for you in NYC this weekend if you want me to:hug: . I'll throw my kids in the car for the trip too, no matter how loud they protest:laughing: although I bet they'd be real psyched to scream team for you and Cindy as well:love: even if it's in the blistering heat and humidity:lmao: :rotfl2:
