Hey Guys!
OK, more details on the NYC 1/2...I'll try not to ramble

.
I ended up going by myself b/c my family were being a bunch of tools & I could tell that they weren't really into going - that is, except Skye, my step-D. Bruce was asking "about what time will we get back on Sun?"..

Never a good sign...and the boys were like "what are we gonna do????". FORGET IT!! Honestly, though, the room I booked had only 2 full beds, so someone had the ugly prospect of having to sleep on an NYC hotel floor, (can you say wicked step mother??), so it was for the best.
Took the train & then the subway straight to the expo (I packed everything in a backpack for the night). Called Cindy & she & Matt were arriving about five minutes after myself

. It was cool to meet them both...we chitchatted as they got their queer gear for about 15 minutes (Matt took a picture), then the awkard silence ensued

& we parted ways. I walked to my hotel over by Columbus Circle, got upgraded to a King deluxe room, went upstairs & decompressed.
Around 4 I headed out to grab an early dinner, then hit the subway down to Chinatown so I could get our teas & crap. Bruce thinks if there's less than 3 months supply in the house we're running low

.
Got a bagel for the a.m., got back to the room around 8pm & crashed. I woke up around 4:30 a.m. (We're supposed to be in corrals by 6:30 for 7 start - as if) , lollygagged a bit ate my bagel, drank green tea....and let that take, um...effect

. Then I saw a strange flash in the sky & it seemed a bit windy out. Hmmmmmm. I went downstairs around 6, knowing I'd take a cab the 20 or so blocks to the start, and it was RAINING!!!

. Uh, hello, don't these people know I don't DO RAIN?? AND it was like freakin' rain forest-atmosphere. I stood there in disbelief under the awning, this couldn't be happening

. So I did what I do best & went back upstairs to my room to sit & contemplate. After another Pre-race Jodistop I went back down...now it's 6:25, but still drizzling, thundering & lightning. The bell-kid calls me a cab, I get in & we're off, for better or worse.
At the next stop light I see 2 people running towards the cab out of the corner of my eye! This woman is grabbing her shirt where her bib number is attached so I can see that she's obviously headed where I'm going....like that's supposed to make me let her & her male-friend in the cab? What, now all the sudden participants running in the same race are tight like Masons? OF course I let them in (this way the cab fare only cost me $5!!...what, you thought I felt BAD for them

).
So it's the start & I run (10 minutes after the real runners started) & it was super-sucky crowded!! All throughout the 7 miles thru Central Park you couldn't move. Once on 7th Ave. it cleared out big time & I could open up my stride...

. It was SOOOO hot in Central Park, but out on the streets the humidity seemed to lift & it actually felt like there was a cool breeze

. Not that it helped me any; but if the sun had come out @ all I would have been a goner, no doubts.
I finished in 2:08 & change...not bad for moi, but last year I did it in 2:05 something. I walked around the finish area aimlessly, drinking free JambaJuice, fondling my medal, then headed for the subway. When I got out of the ground, my phone beeped. Cindy had left a message that she & Matt were done running & to call her. I phoned her & she began to describe where they were sitting, trying to brief me on where to find them. I laughed as the hotel's elevator doors slid open & said "Dude, are you kidding me??? I'm already back @ my hotel!" She said they were going to wait for the presentation ceremony & stuff....They have
presentation ceremonies at these things???

Who knew???
Cindy didn't seem too jazzed about the event as a whole, but liked running thru Times Square. I don't think she was diggin the medal either. I LOVE it, but then again, I'm easily amused. I'll let her tell her story, though.
So I caught the 12:07 train home & was sitting my carcass on the couch @ home by 2:30 or so! I can't wait to do it again next year!!
