It's HOT :sad2:

Cindy - Check you out, registering for all these local races & whatnot! You go GIRL:thumbsup2 .

Your comment that your face hurt brings up a funny memory for me when I was a paramedic. We went on a minor car accident & transported 2 patients, one from each car. one spoke English, one....not so much. Anyway, I was pissed that we had to take them at all ("ow, my neck, my back, my lawyer"...one of those calls) so when I began to assess the patients the one person couldn't understand me or answer ?'s So I thought I'd amuse my partner & ask them "Does your face hurt?...."Cause it's killin' me!":lmao: Ahh, what fun. Except for about an hour later, when I was done w/ the call, I got sent back to the barn b/c of a patient complaint. My boss hauled me in the office...Apparently the OTHER patient called to complain about my "callous disregard" for BOTH of them. Well of course I denied everything :rolleyes1 & said that she MUST have misunderstood me :confused3 . My boss replied "Yeah, but the problem is, Jodi, I can SEE you saying that!" :lmao: :rotfl2:

But I digress....go easy in this heat w/ your heart, kay?

Dave - I'm DEFINITELY in for Philly! Everyone is!! We're just waiting on YOU! Did you set your new boss straight or what??? Don't sweat the tough speedwork, dude. You've been on a terrific streak for weeks now. It's just a heat thang, that's all! Can't wait to hear the details of your review w/ Kevin! Good fun, no doubt!

Chester & Lou - YAY PHILLY!! Chester, nice job on the adventure race! I can't wait for the Yeti! Lou, perhaps you can make it down for this as well????

HiToAllNonPosters&ThoseOfYouHavingTooMuchFunintheWorldToBeBotheredWithUsLosers!

Rest Day today! Tomorrow's not supposed to be so hot, so I'll get out there early. Had a heinous run yesterday a.m....scheduled for 5, ran 3 with a JodiStop, uh...emergency I guess you could call it, & had to go home. Off to take my DS to see "Wall-E" today. Neither one of us was really interested, but it got such great reviews we're curious. I thought Pixar's "Ratatouille" sucked, but we'll give one a shot. I'll let you know.

:lmao: :lmao: Wow, Jodi, your boss must have misunderstood you. You have a callous disregard for your patients? for humanity? Nooooo, not the cynical mom that I know. :lmao: :lmao: Too funny.

Jodi - :lmao: Thanks for the laugh (and don't think that I didn't immediately think about the "'cause it's killing me" response as I was typing about my face hurting.):rotfl2:

Come on Jodi, you KNOW I'm checking the thread daily:rolleyes1 . My kids just don't have lots of tolerance for my computer time and since I have to do work daily it leaves me little time for personal computer use:laughing: . Um, it's HOT here as well...

Cindy - So sorry for your mishap!!

Dave - I'm waiting on signing up for Philly as well due to the hesitancy with the knee as it stands. I will be there regardless of whether or not I run:hippie: .

Colleen - I still  even though we didn't get a chance to hang out. I hope you had a great time and safe travels home:thumbsup2 .

To everyone else

No running since park touring all day on my leg is more than enough for it right now:eek: .

I'll try to check in again but HAPPY 4th if I don't get a chance to:yay: .

Hey, TROLL!! If I were your kids I'd punch you in your bum KNEE!!! Imagine being on the computer while @ WDW!:lmao: Sorry you missed Colleen down there...did you try the Canadian Pavillion???

Cindy - Not trying to make light of your injury at all with all this reminiscing...I really do hope your shoulder feels better soon!!

Still wish you'd post pix  . Maybe you'll still have some yellowing when NYC rolls around, eh??:headache:

Thanks, but seriousy, I feel on my face on the sidewalk (still don't really understand how), I'd be shocked if you didn't make light of it.:rotfl:

I think the wound on my hand is going to scar, so I can show you that:thumbsup2

Sara - I hope you are having fun!

Hey Phillybots,

Let me start off by saying that I forgot to register for Philly yesterday. Kathy's rolling pennies from the sofa cushions so she feels better about spending money on vacation this summer and I miss an easy 15 bucks!

Dodo - I can soooo see you picking on some poor injured, confused person. Did you also Sharpy witty little things on people's head bandages. You know, so they couldn't see them until they got home? Things like "Crash Test Dummy in Training", "Student of the Helen Keller Driving School", or maybe my new fave, "Cindy Taught Me To Walk".

Cindy - Glad you're feeling a little better. Sorry your face still hurts. The next time you take a header in public just jump up and do a "stuck the landing" pose and shout "Ta-Da!!" No worries about keeping your head low after that.

What 8-K are you running?

Sara - Nice of you to check in. How's the World?

Dave and Lou - The softball is fun. I've had a tough time making games this season due to work and haven't been hitting as well as I'd like but it's still fun. A pretty competitive church league; kind of makes you think twice about shouting a bunch of obsenities if you mess up.

Chester - Maybe you need to have a few Bloody Marys if you're still down a pint or two. Might not help with the HR but after a few good ones, who cares.

Colleen - Any vacation reports??

I actually got out and ran this afternoon. Weather was pretty decent, but it's still hot when you go out at 4:00PM. The highlight was waiting for some truly funky looking birds to cross the road. I tried to figure out what they were when I got home. After 20 minutes of wasted Google time Kathy goes on the other computer and using my totally useless description figures out they were Guinea Fowl in about 15 seconds. http://harmonysnaps.com/photos/index.php?showimage=530

This is Marlon Perkins hoping to see you next week on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Mike - It's a low key race - Go Fourth 8k in Alexandria. $5 registration the morning of. Matt and I are most likely going to do it. We figured it would be a good way to get a little fast running in.

Hi guys!:)

I am back, we arrived home late last night. My sister and her son are here for 4 days before they fly home, so I will be busy entertaining for the rest of week.

I quickly browsed what I missed. Congratulations to all who signed up for Philly.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Jodi - That's one of the better stories I have heard in while. My wife is an ER nurse in Camden, NJ (the armpit of NJ) so I always appreciate a good inconsiderate healthcare story. :lmao: No yeti race for me. This DL 1/2 is already going to break the bank for me. I may plan for WDW 2010 though.

Sara - Hope you're enjoying your stay at WDW! Stay off the laptop and enjoy a Dole Whip in the sweltering heat. Hopefully you'll get some rest and relaxation in the pools at night.

Cindy - Hope the face is healing up. Good luck with your 8K.

Mike - I have a hard time picturing a competitive church league. I guess those priests have plenty of spare time to go to the batting cages. Nice job spotting the endangered spieces.

Colleen - Welcome back!! How was the trip?

Hello wfloyd, Steve, Chester, Dave, and others I probably missed.

Not much running this week. Did 4 miles yesterday and walked 2 miles with DW on Monday and Tuesday nights. She's getting ready for her 5K "walk" at DL. I also parked at the Art Museum again today and walked about 2-3 miles from meeting to meeting. Still going through some intense times with new business. But things are going well.

Lou

Ah, Bill, you are not allowed to just wave hello and then leave!

By the way, :wave2: back!

Lou, trip was a lot of fun, very crowded, much more than I expected. We needed to get to the parks early in the morning to get in the big rides. Even at that by the time we got to the third attraction we were waiting 30-40 minutes.

I booked this trip for the soul purpose to take in Star Wars weekend at Hollywood Studios and for DS10 to to the Padawan (sp) Mind Challenge, because he is just a sponge for Star Wars details. Well, by the time I went to sign him up, at 9:30 a.m., all the slots were full for the entire day?!?!?:confused3 I hated that he didn't get a chance to do the trivial contest. He did build his own light saber in Tatooine Traders, so that was good. DD9 got her hair wrap so all was right with the world. That is the only money we spent in Disney shops.

Hi All :wave2:

I have not checked the thread in days. Let's see if I can catch up: some running, some not running, it is really hot, some at WDW (jealous), some face-planting while running in flip-flops (ouch!). Still no running for me, but I may give it a try tomorrow. I'm off tomorrow for vacation at a lake cottage with no internet/WiFi; so I won't be checking in until around July 16th. Training for me will consist of swimming, water skiing, sailing, and kayaking. :boat:

Cindy, Sara, Lou, Jodi, Colleen, Mike, Chester, Dave, Howard (and any I am sorry to have missed): have a great 4th of July weekend. Good luck with all your training; I'll check in soon :thumbsup2

Hi McPhilly friends:hippie:

Lou - I DID have a Dole Whip Float on Tuesday night in the MK:thumbsup2 .

Mike - The World is crowded and hot but I am happy to say, not as humid as I've seen it in late September, early October trips in the past:) . We've been taking advantage of the evening hours once the hot sun goes down.

Steve - Enjoy your time away. It sounds heavenly:cloud9: .

Bill - Thanks for checking in:hug: . Please give our best to Lynnda!

Cindy - My DD Lauren got some unknown huge scrape down her nose on vacation and it made me think of you:hug: . I hope you're feeling better
and the face is improving:wizard: .

Jodi - Now my kids are begging to get on my computer:rotfl: . :rotfl: Yeah, I probably should have checked the Canadian Pavillion for Colleen or those sexy Off Kilter men up that way:rotfl2: .

Colleen - So sorry your DS didn't get a chance to do the mind challenge:headache: . It's great you didn't fork over a boatload of cash. I'm hoping to get out of here with little to no damage to my credit card:rolleyes1 .

I guess we're doing AK in a bit todaypopcorn:: . I hope everyone has a very safe, healthy and Happy 4th!! God Bless America!!

Happy 4th of July to all!!!!

Tracy and I are heading over to Universal Studios tomorrow to catch the 5:00pm Blue Man Group show. Then we'll try to get into Margaritaville for dinner and then watch whatever fireworks show they have.

Sunday we're heading down to Ft. Lauderdale to pick up the kids and my sister from their month long backpacking trip to Europe.

Last night's 6 mile run was stormed out. Tonight I will try to get in a quick 3. Saturday is scheduled to have 6 miles, but I may bump it up to the 11 I was going to do on Sunday.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Chester
W.I.S.H. Half-Fast Marathon Team

Good morning McPhillies,

Hope everyone had a nice fourth yesterday.

My sister and her son are leaving today on the late flight out of CLT, so hopefully I will be able to get my wits about me to write a nice post tomorrow.

I have been really slack on the workouts lately, but I will pick it up next week. Congratutes to everyone who registered for Philly, I forgot.

Hey! Happy 5th of July :sad2: Hope everyone's 4th was fun & safe!

Colleen - Glad you're back from the world in one piece. I hope your extended newbi-family enjoyed it as much as you did. Don't sweat the lack of workouts, having house guests & running around Disney is enough to keep anyone in shape!! I hope your DS wasn't too disappointed about not being able to do the Star Wars Mind Meld, poor little guy!

Sara - Are you back yet? Too bad you ddn't get to meet up with the Canadian, but it's so hard to arrange stuff like that when you're with a whole bunch of people. Hope the knee is doing well!

Steve - Hope you're having a great time in your remote wilderness cottage!! Be safe & say hi to Grizzly Adams for me!

Cindy - I hope you at least had a day off over this holiday weekend!!! Did you run your race yesterday?? NYC is approaching fast!!!:yay:

Lou - I didin't know your wife was an ER nurse, yipes. Those jobs can suck the life out of you :scared1: . Especially in a high volume city such as Camden. Glad you walk with her some evenings 'cause I'm sure she needs the stress release!

Mike - Don't feel bad, I forgot to register for Philly, too. I feel like such a jerk because like your betrothed, change rolling is becoming a commone practice in this household :sad2: .

Hey, I was a very compassionate caregiver as a paramedic...:rolleyes1 . No, I didn't Sharpy things on them b/c the ER staff would see (kinda hard to deny the doodlng). Sometimes when we had to secure patients heads to the backboard with tape - and this is the weird part because it would only happen to certain patients, usually the obnoxious ones - the tape would somehow end up covering their eyebrows as well as their foreheads :confused3 !:rolleyes1

Chester - Were you able to get any running in through the bolts of lightning?? How was Blue Man Group? You must be excited to pick the kids up tomorrow!:yay: Tracy must be even MORE anxious!

Dave - How was your 4th?? Any running? Exactly when are you guys headed to Disney??

Howard - RU back yet??

The weather is heinous....humid, hot, wet...Blechh!! I"ve been squeezing in what I'm supposed to be doing, but not with much zest! Come to think of it, I've been pretty zest-less for a while :woohoo: . Oh well.

Jodi - I'm still hanging out in the World:rolleyes1 . My DS turned 18 today:woohoo: . He's not on vacation with us :confused3 because he's going to Oregon on Tuesday for college orientation.

Colleen - Anxiously awaiting the trip reportpopcorn:: ! I also have to get my head back into consistent training after I'm back from vacation:eek: .

I ran a bit this morning along with some recumbant biking and then lots of Typhoon Lagoon:thumbsup2 . Both Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach were closed due to capacity limits being reached by early afternoon. We won Dream Fastpasses in the Magic Kingdom on the 4th of July which was so sweet:banana: since MK was also closed due to capacity limits being reached by the early afternoon that day. I'm heading back to reality tomorrow and then the DD's start gymnastics camp on Monday:yay: .

I hope y'all had a great holiday:grouphug: .

Hi everyone!

Lou~ Sorry I missed the possibility of running in the 7/3 5K race with you. We arrived back home in Phila. about 4 PM on 7/3 so it wouldn't have worked out. Keep your eyes peeled for another race and give me some notice.

___________________________________________________________

We had a great time on our vacation to Disney World and on the 4 day Disney Wonder Cruise to Nassau and Castaway Cay (x2). I ate way too much, it was an orgy of food and desserts. I kind of kept my wits about me most of the time, but it was a losing battle most of the time.

We also met with our wedding planner for the vow renewal we are having in January (Marathon Monday - 1/12). We tasted foods, looked at the venue, met with the floral designer, etc. It was very nice and spending a day in the Magic Kingdom and one in Epcot was very nice as well.

While away, I fell off the wagon and only got in one feeble attempt at running. I ran what I'll call 3 miles one morning on Deck 4 of the Disney Wonder. However, I walked a lot at the parks the days prior to the cruise. On the final cruise day at Castaway Cay, there was an organized 5K run at 8:30 AM. I had every intention to get up and run it but I was not feeling well so I missed it. We saw others two days earlier at Castaway Cay running in 97+ degrees plus humidity. Not my cup o' tea. :rolleyes1

I got back on the wagon today with a run. Here are my stats:

Miles: 6
Time: 1:00:20
Pace: 10:03

Splits:
8:59
10:31
10:59
9:01
10:35
10:17

I'm supposed to run 8 tomorrow. It may be raining. I don't mind running in the rain, thumder and lightning are another story. :scared:

More later... glad I wan't forgotten in my absence! :dance3: :cheer2:  :thumbsup2

Hi everyone - Hope you all had a good Fourth!

Sara - I hope your knee is doing ok after all the walking at the World.

Colleen
- I'm glad that you had a fun trip, that sucks that it was so crowded that your son didn't get to do all the special Star Wars stuff.

Howard - I'm glad that you had fun too. I know that I won't be good about training when in Disney, so I'm building extra weeks into my training schedule and will just hope to get a short run in every three days while there.

Steve
- I hope you are having a good time. Right now, that sounds like the ideal vacation to me.

Jodi - Did you see Wall-E, how was it?

Mike
- Did you see any of the local fireworks on the fourth?

Chester
- How was Blue Man Group? Matt and I are thinking of trying to do it in August.

Bill - :wave2:

Dave - When are you headed out for your trip.

Lou - I hope things continue to go well with your new business.

As for me, I skipped the race on Friday because I had too much work that I needed to get done this weekend. I ended up working most of the day Friday and Saturday, but still managed to get some running and fun in. On the Fourth I actually went down to the Mall to see the big fireworks. I hadn't done that in about 8 years and Matt had never done it because I always said getting in and out of DC on the Fourth was too much of a pain. Getting home was a total pain, but the fireworks were pretty great. Last night we saw the Lion King at the Kennedy Center. It was really amazing - I had pretty high expectations and I didn't feel let down. Today we went to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and had a good time (I love taking advantage of all the free stuff there is to do here).

As for running, I ran 4 miles on Friday, 3 on Sat, and 11 this morning. I officially start my (ridiculously hard) training program for Philly tomorrow (with a rest day)!

Oh yeah, and my face STILL hurts from my fall (but at least it looks normal).
