I forgot to mention that I did reserve a room at the Embassy Suites a few days ago. The rate was $179 (apparently, its $169 for one person, but $179 for two, which I find annoying). I booked it for both Saturday and Sunday night. I figured it would be nice to not have to worry about rushing to check out after the race and driving back the same night. We'll just stay over Sunday and drive back Monday after rush hour and go into work a little late.

Just wanted to see what the game plan will be for everyone. It would be nice to hang out some before or after the race. I know I lot of people like to race and run. There is a very nice restaurant/bar behind the Art Museum (finish line) that may be a nice place to hang out the day before or right after the race. http://www.thewaterworksrestaurant.com/main.cfm

Jodi - I figured you would be running out after the race. Maybe the group can hang out the night/day before. I here you with the TP people. I remember crossing Mile 26 at Philly last year and all of the sudden my stomach "dropped". I had to really bear down for that last .2 mile but I was prepared for a 9-1-1 emergency using leaves if necessary.

Cindy and Mike: THANK YOU for all the info on your training. Greatly appreciated :).

Colleen: :goodvibes Sooo excited for your DH. Can't wait to hear a race report when you get back!

Jodi: Once again...GOOD LUCK GIRL. Have a great race and stay safe out there!

Lou: Good luck on the 20K race. I'm sure you'll have a smokin' fast time too!!! :thumbsup2

Speaking of which, has anyone entered the lottery for the NYC 1/2 or full?:rolleyes1 or am I the only tool...again.

:

OK, Tool, I just entered the NYC lottery!

But you have to go reserve a hotel for us! I am too busy.

Amy - LOVE the new avatar :rotfl: ! Thanks for the well wishes, I'm gonna need 'em!

Lou - I'm up for meeting before the run or after. Only, if we meet afterwards, it'll have to be at a bar or foodcourt in the airport ;) . The restaurant you suggested sounds terrific, I'm there, dude!:woohoo:

Colleen - YAY:banana: :woohoo: :dance3: ! Now we can BOTH not get in!:lmao: Oh man, think of how much fun we'd have in NYC for a weekend!!!!!!!popcorn:: I'll take care of the hotel & all that, fear not!!

Did you enter for the half or the full?

I don't think I am going to enter for the full, but I really want to do the half.

I put in for both! I'm not sure which one ThetaWench entered!:confused3 You've got to enter the 1/2, it is such an awesome race!! As I've said b4, if I don't get in, I'll have to schill for the charity for a guaranteed entry popcorn:: .:lmao:

I entered the lottery for the Full!:lmao: (Not sure why I find that so funny, but I do?!?!)It was only $11, I think I will get $11 worth of excitement to see if my name is on the list.

I am confuzzed, so when is the half?

The 1/2 marathon is on Sun. July 27th! You should try for that one, too!! :lmao: I think I've heard of Anthony travel - don't you fret, I'll get us the best hotel for the best price!!

Anthony Travel also has guaranteed entries for the half, but only if you stay at the Ritz, so its kind of pricey. But if we enter the lottery and Matt gets in and I don't, I may go that route.

Hmmmmmm......I'll have to check it out & see what's pricier - charity work or the Ritz :lmao: .

OK, Anthony Travel is so high!! Those prices are ridiculous, I'd rather donate $1k to a charity for guaranteed entry & get a hotel.

Amy - Thanks. I'm sure I'll do fine but "smokin fast" may be tough. My only problem with this race is going to be the seasonal allergies that reared their head this week.

Jodi - We'll figure something out. The good thing about that restaurant is that it's within limping distance of the finish line.

Colleen - Good luck with the NYC lottery. Does anyone know when the lottery results come out?

Howdy Folks

Sorry, been absent from the boards this week. All went well at my friend's camp last weekend, except that the lake was still frozen, we had no running water because the pump was broken, and it was freezing at night and his woodstove is the size of a cereal box so we had to put wood in every 2 hours. Oh, and on the way in we got his car stuck in the mud for 4 hours; we had to call AAA for a tow. So..we had a great time; we just had to laugh at each predicament. (we were only 15 minutes from the nearest town, so it wasn't any great hardship.)

Colleen: Have a great time in Boston; best of luck to DH! We may be taking a day trip to Boston this school vacation week (we're only 1:45 away by car.) Enjoy the Duck Boat tours! (If you are down by Faneuil Hall with the kids, hike over to the North End for some real pizza, pasta, and amazing Italian bakeries!)

Lou: Good luck at the Penn Relays 20K. And congrats on the office/business buyout. As for the Philly Marathon, I'm in for us all meeting up for dinner the night before; the restaurant you suggested sounds good to me. I have booked Emb. Suites Fri and Sat. night (may only do Sat.), so I'll be leaving after the race on Sunday also.

Cindy: A belated congrats on your 8K Age Group victory! (and condolences regarding the hair issue ;) ) You are cranking out the miles! Good luck this weekend on the 1/2.

Jodi: Best of luck on the ultra. :thumbsup2 I admire your courage; if I were in your shoes I would be really stressed--not because of the race distance, but because I would be worried that I would not receive a race shirt! :scared:

Mike: I'm glad to hear that you and your old running shoes have come to a mutual understanding ("It's not you, shoes; you are both wonderful. It's me...") However, ooooooh, that new shoe smell when you take 'em out of the box! :cloud9: (OK, so I have some issues)

Sara: I'm so glad you finally had the MRI! :wizard: that your results give you some answers. I'm glad you've been able to put some miles in.

Hi Chester. Hi Amy. Hi everyone else!

I ran 6 yesterday and woke up to join this thread's Sore Foot Club, as my left achilles is somewhat angry with me today. That's OK; I'll rest it this weekend as I XT by raking the 3 tons of sand left on my lawn after the snow melt (thank you, Public Works!)

Have a great weekend everyone! Seems like lots of races and travel for many of you! :thumbsup2

Hello Tools, Wenches, and any other derogatory terms of endearment that only good friends can call each other!

Steve - Glad you had a memorable weekend helping you friend. FYI, the new shoes arrived yesterday afternoon. Sweeeeet! Already have 7 miles on 'em.

Sorry about the sand pile in your yard. We had a grand total of something like 4 inches of snow this winter. The thing that frosts my cupcakes is the idiots came and spread the sand the day after it snowed and was mostly melted. I've been sweeping sand out of the garage for months and there's still a bunch in the street.

Cindy - I think I'm going to run Sunday just a little faster than a normal training run. I don't want to be recovering for half of next week.

BTW, as far as Embassy Suites, I think our family of 5 consists of 1 adult and 2 children. $169. Now I know why Kathy told me to reserve it that way. In case anyone hadn't noticed, she's waaay smarter than me!

Lou - Good luck on your race this weekend. Hope the pollen isn't too bad for you.

Jodi - Best of luck to you Ultragirl! I hope you will still associate with the likes of us once you've acheived your lofty status.

Couldn't you save Bruce the trouble of toting your TP around by just looping your fuel belt through a few rolls? You'd look pretty cool running around trailing a couple of little Charmin tails behind you!

Colleen - Have a great time in Boston. Tell DH I said good luck! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Sara - All recovered from your travels?

Chester, Dave, Amy, and Anyone else out there - Hi!!

As previously mentioned, I ran 7 miles last evening in the new shoes then did 6 this morning in the old, but still loved and respected pair.

It was in the mid 70's yesterday and is on the way up to the 80's today. It's too easy to forget that brain-boiling sensation of running in the warm weather. Now I remember why we decided training for a LATE fall marathon would be better than doing it in the heat like last year for MCM!

Jodi - good luck on Sunday - I'll be thinking of you.

Mike - is Kathy coming with you on Sunday? Matt is not running (this will be the first race I've run that he hasn't) but he is planning on driving out to Leesburg with me and then going off to do the 18 miles that he has planed.

Colleen - Have a great time in Boston and best of luck to your DH!

Lou - Happy early birthday and good luck to you too this weekend.

Steve - Hope the weather is improving for you up there.

Hi to everyone else!

Today was a scheduled rest day so I got some extra sleep, which was nice. I'm going to skip my 8 miler tomorrow (maybe I'll do a few easy miles) because of the race on Sunday.

Have a good weekend all!

Cindy - Thanks for the well wishes & right back atcha, sistah!:goodvibes I think your decision to sleep in & skip tomorrows run & go EASY on Sun. are all swell ideas! Have fun!

Sara - Will you be running this weekend now that the snow's gone?

Michael - Have fun on Sun. & don't be mean to Cindy :rotfl:. I won't start ranting about the heat yet, I've got to pace myself as there's many months of warm weather ahead:headache: . Nice job on the 2 runs, wish I could do that...or have the gumpshun to do that  .

Steve - Glad you're back from your survival weekend  . And what's up with the achilles thingie? Now don't forget to rotate your ankles each night...and of course self-massage :woohoo: .

Lou - Happy Birthday you old fart :rolleyes1 & have a great time @ your race! Any big plans for afterwards??? Birthday cake/beers?popcorn::

Colleen - Have fun in Boston!! Try & check in if you can! Don't sweat the NYC stuff, we'll figure it out.

Thanks for all your well wishes for Sunday. The weather is supposed to be cooler (50-65 for a high) & cloudy :lovestruc . Now if they just provide little scooters to get around in...:rolleyes1 . I'll definitely check in on Sun. (not sure you can use laptops in the ER) & let you guys know what happened.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Lou - :cake: I hope your 40th is memorable and that your race rocks! Good luck with keeping the allergens at bay:wizard: .

Jodi, Cindy & Mike - :cheer2:  :cool1: I hope y'all have awesome race experiences!

Colleen - Have a blast in Boston and I hope Jeff has a great race:woohoo: .

Steve - :wizard: for your foot! :lmao: about your adventure.

Dave, Chester & Amy - :wave2:

I registered for the Army 10-miler today and I am debating whether to attempt a leisurely LR tomorrow at home or run a 5K or 10K in Saratoga Springs (local race for me). Same old with the leg/knee - temperamental:headache: . Definitely jealous of everyone able to get out there and give it their all this weekend:sad1: . I'll be living vicariously for sure and I will be thinking of you guys:grouphug: .

Cindy - Matt's not running? Is he a slave to the 18 miles or afraid he'll run the race too hard and his training will pay the price?

The plan is for Kathy and the girls to come. I'm not sure what she intends to do with them for 2 hours :confused3 but I guess they will find something to keep everyone occupied.

I'll be wearing my WISH hat for sure and probably one of the hurt-your-eyes yellow WISH shirts (Unless the weather changes and it's warmer. Then I'll test run my new more lime-green WISH shirt and hat). Either way, tough to miss!

You figure out a race strategy yet?

Sara - Take it easy if you pick the 5 or 10K. It's easy to get a little too caught up in all the hub-bub.

Jodi - Quit your belly-achin' you wuss! You're too mean to have any troubles Sunday! ;)

Lou - Happy Birthday!!
