Colleen - I glad to hear that you are doing better. Is Minnie still a posibility for you?

Cindy, no I don't think I will be going down for Minnie. Just can't seem to get my head wrapped around it. Especially since I may be planning an August trip since you, Mike, Kathy and Jodi will be there!:rolleyes1 I am always looking for something to do in August with the kids.

ThetaWench - Oh yeh, you did mention that your kids only had that Mon. off...I thought EVERYONE had that week off. Yes, we're definitely going! All signed up for our 2, Cat 11 caves:lmao: . We can't wait. That's why I say August may not happen in WDW...There's this little thing called $ that seems to be in short supply as of late & Bruce would FREAK if I suggested going in August:lmao: . I mean, not that he has to come with me.:3dglasses

Lou - Good to hear you're still managing to get in some running time to balance out the workload:cheer2: . I will be in King of Prussia Saturday night with DH for a benefit if you want to go for a run early Sunday morning. My LR IS 5 miles:rotfl: and you should be tapering for your 20K so hopefully you won't humble me too much:scared: . Just let me know if you'll be around and can make it work:thumbsup2 .
Sara - Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I was REAL tied up with work this week and I'm just getting to the boards this morning. I could run with tomorrow (Sunday) but it would have to be near home (South Jersey). I am crammed for time tomorrow and it's a haul for me to get to King of Prussia. I could run in Philly depending on the time you want to run.

Lou

Hey everyone - I've been MIA for the past 3-4 days do to work. That's going to be a common theme for me for a while. The good news is that I am in the process of acquiring the company I work for and I have a silent partner (with money) that's going to help me make this happen. The current owner and I have already worked out a verbal agreement. This is much too complicated for the boards but at least you know why I am not around much.

I am running 4 days a week (20-25 miles) but haven't done an LR in a month. I have the 20K Penn Relays race next Saturday which should be very fun. It will be cool to run into Franklin Field with 1000's of people cheering. Also cool to run on the same track that people like Carl Lewis ran on.

I'll try to catch up with the posts tomorrow. DD7 makes her 1st Holy Communion today.

Lou

Steve - I hope you get some weekends at the cottage for yourself for your efforts!

Lou - glad to hear that work related things are going well for you.

Jodi - About the cruise - there is no way I could get Matt to go on a Disney cruise before we have kids.

Matt and I ran the 8k race this morning. It was hard. It was in Greenbelt National Park in Greenbelt MD. It was really, really hilly, which is fine and I knew beforehand, but the hardest part for me was the weather. It was about 70 degrees and probably 80% (or more) humidity. Its hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago the wind chill was in the high 20s. It think the heat and humidity were really a shock to my body; I was struggling from a half mile into the race. I guess today was a preview of what I have to look forward to at the Minnie! According to my watch I ran it in 44:57; I'm guessing my official time is a few seconds faster. I did manage win my age group, which is kind of cool (it was my first age group award - just a certificate), not sure exactly how many people were in my age group, but at least 2 others because there was a second and third place  (I'd be surprised if there were many more than that).

Miss Age Group Winner - :worship: :worship: :worship: Wow!! That's great! Congratulations.

Sorry you had a tough time with the weather. Just a preview of things to come, I'm afraid.

Lou
- Again, way to keep running with all the stuff you have going on. How was First Communion? We have that coming up in a few weeks here too.

Jodi - How's the taper? Are you getting nervous/excited? I've contacted the ultra race director and strongly suggested he go to K-Mart and pick you up a shirt. I haven't heard back yet, so we'll see.

Mike - The Communion was very nice. DD was so excited. However, girls are just so much more work and money. DS had his 2 years ago and it was a lot easier. Between the hair, gown, shoes, nails, and everything else it's nuts. I think it's a chance for the moms to relive their wedding. You had all these moms decked out trying to out do each other with their daughters. Dad's are just holding the cameras doing the videotaping as usual.

Lou

Cindy - HOLY COW, CONGRATULATIONS!:cheer2:  ! You ROCK, nice job on kickin' some age-related-a**:thumbsup2 . Have you made your plane reservations to Bejing, yet? Maybe you could get a DING fare?:rotfl2: . Yes, the heat is returning & that means I will be turning foul:confused3 .

Lou - :thumbsup2 With your business, and while it's consuming all your time now, it'll be sure to pay off. Glad you're able to fit in some runs. Ahhh, I remember my 1st communion...but it wasn't like they are today, that's for sure. And there definitely wasn't any hairdo or nails for ME! Were you able to hook up w/ Sara this weekend for a run? If so, are you ok?...:rotfl:

Steve - Back from the cabin yet?

Mike - Any running for you this weekend? Listen, I better get a dang shirt outta this crap, otherwise you may read about in the national news section of USA Today!! Thank you for contacting him & your attempts to avoid a tragedy in the making;) . Tapering is good...as usual:rotfl: .

I ran yesterday 6 miles & it sucked. That's all there is to say. I woke up with a pain in the ball of my left foot:confused3 . Not sure why.

Lou

Congratulations to DD on your First Communion, DD8 had hers last year and you are right, the gown, shoes, veil and gifts were a lot! She did feel very special and was well worth all the hoopla!:thumbsup2

Hey Cindy on your first place!:worship:

Steve, WOW, you are quite a friend to help out at the cottage/cabin!

Jodi, can't imagine you being in a foul mood!:confused3

Sara, miss you!:flower3: Hope all is well.

Well, I was able to get out for a few walks this week. DH arrived home from his conference, but missed his connecting flight in Philly, so he had to overnight at the Marriott at the airport and catch the 6:30 flight Saturday morning. It is good to have him back home. He was able to get his last 10 miler in this morning before his marathon next weekend. I am SO relieved he made it through his training and will actually give Boston a fair attempt.

I am really excited about the weekend in Boston, the kids and I have been reading all the Boston history we can get our hands on, so it will be neat to see everything in person.:cheer2:

Geetings from Baltimore:yay: !! Philly was so much fun and I am sorry I was unable to catch up with you Lou but making it work this morning would have been real hard. I did manage to get in a nice 3 miles or so before we drove back to Baltimore and did the Inner Harbor today. I'm heading out to Cincy in the a.m. so most likely no running for a few days. However, I am going to be hanging out with some fellow WISH'ers who live in Cincinnati:cool1: while I am there.

Jodi - Are you going down for the Minniepopcorn:: ?

Colleen - Glad DH is home and you've been able to get some walking time in:woohoo: . Have a blast in Boston next weekend:banana: .

Cindy - Nice job on the age group award:worship: .

McPhilly Men - :wave2:

MRI Wednesday:cheer2: .

Happy training!

Thanks for all the congrats. Just to confirm, the official results were posted and there were a total of three people in my age group, so winning is not really a big deal, but kind of cool, especially since I don't think it will happen again any time soon.

Lou - glad that the Communion went well. I also remember my First Communion, I had the dress, veil, and shoes, but certainly no hair or nails.

Sara - Did you go to the Aquarium? That's one thing I have yet to do, but really want to. Have fun in Cincy!

Colleen
- I hope you have a great time in Boston, :wizard: for good weather.

Jodi
- I hope your magically appearing foot pain magically disappears.

Mike - I think I have decided to do the half next weekend.

I got my 18 miler in today. It went ok. I was really tired toward the end and I got a terrible calf cramp at some point, but I stopped to stretch and it appears to be fine now.

Matt was also able to get his long run (17) in today, which is good. He hasn't been able to run more than 13.5 miles without serious leg or hip pain since the 20 miler before the MCM (he had to walk the last half of the MCM and had to walk the last few miles of the training runs leading up to the National Half), so he is pretty excited.:cool1:

I did have a little fit before I went out for my run. I got my haircut yesterday afternoon by the same person who has been cutting my hair for at least 8 years. I asked him to do the usual and as he was cutting it I was thinking, that looks really short. Turns out that it is so short that I can't pull it back (but long enough to be annoying if I don't do something with it). I tried everything and was getting seriously t'd off. I ended up running with a headband that goes all the way my head, at least that kept it off the back of my neck.

Hope Everyone had a good weekend!

Cindy - Way to go on your race and 18-miler! The records will always say that you came in first in your age group.

Sara - Sorry I missed you. KoP is a little out of the way for me and with this Communion I was tied up most of the weekend. The Inner Harbor must have been very nice yesterday with the good weather.

Colleen - Boston is very nice. My sister went to BU and I used to go there regularly years ago. My only regret is not going to Fenway. Hope you have a great trip.

Jodi - I'm finally reading ChiRunning. Now the book says that this whole ChiRunning thing is supposed to lead to injury-free running. What happened?

Howard - Any chance you will be running the Penn Relays this weekend?

Hello to everyone I missed.

I got in 20K yesterday in gorgeous weather. I ran the majority of the LR along trails by my house. The clear skies, 55 degree temps, and Spring flowers made it a great run. I have the 20K race this weekend (Penn Relays). I turn 40 on saturday so the race comes at a nice time. It will be the first post-40 event in my life.

I'll be jammed up at work all week but will try to pop in when I can. Have a nice week everyone!

Lou

Spoken like a man whose wife obviously doesn't read his posts!! Luckily, none of that insanity here.

Cindy - An award winning race AND and 18 miler in the same weekend? Wow, you are dedicated.

Sorry that Paolo or Sergio or Buffy or whatever his name is committed vandalism on your head. I could give refer you to guys. As long and it's no more complicated than "2 on top and 1 on the side" (clipper guard size) you'll be just fine.

Cool that you're going to run the half next weekend. I'm guessing it shouldn't be to hard to meet up.

Sara - You are the travelin' fool, aren't you. Have fun and be safe.

Colleen - I'm glad the DH made it home alright. Also good that he is feeling ready to go next week. I'm sure you will have a great trip.

Steve - How did the Extreme Makeover Home Edition work out for you?

Jodi - I'm finally reading ChiRunning. Now the book says that this whole ChiRunning thing is supposed to lead to injury-free running. What happened?
Lou - What Jodi failed to mention is that she didn't hurt her foot running. She bruised it kicking the walker out from under some old lady that got in her way around mile 4! Chi good! Old hag bad!

Jodi - I hope the foot is just one of those phantom pains. Sorry the run wasn't all that you hoped for. I think I've always had lousy runs right before a race just to screw with my head.

I was scheduled for 12 miles yesterday. Didn't plan out my route too well and ended up running 13.2 miles. I ran the last 6 or 7 at tempo pace so my legs are a bit sore today but nothing bad.

Talk to y'all later.

Hey Bots

Lou - Keep reading ChiRunning...no injuries, no worries!

Cindy - Hey Number ONE, is number 1...I don't care how you slice it! You won, girl!! You are just a runnin' fool lately,...you & Mike, that is. WTG go guys. So, your hair's gettin' on your nerves? Dude messed it up? Welcome to my world...just put a hat on!:lmao:

Sara - Definite NO for Minnie, just can't swing it. How 'bout you? Any last minute plans?popcorn:: The snow melted up there yet?:rotfl:

Mike - Hey, that old lady deserved it! She should've had her tennis balls more securely fastened to the bottom of that walker:rolleyes1 . Nice run!! I don't even think I HAVE a tempo:lmao: . Scheduled for 12 & did 13+ indeed  .

Foot seems better:confused: . Should be fine, but I proably won't run today just the same. I'll go to the gym & get angry at the people holding up machines b/c they're batting their eyelashes & flipping their hair annoyingly @ men wearing wife-beater t-shirts, while their kids are in the filthy daycare bawling their eyes out 'cause they've been watching Nickelodeon for 4 hours:headache: :rolleyes1

Jodi, I had to pop out of lurkdom to :lmao: That was funny, mostly cuz I think I have had the same feeling/thought...a lot...

What? There are cute guys to look at your gym?

None at ours.:sad2: Just a handful of pump-me-up , (insert Arnie-voice here) young 'roid-lings and some 45 year old midlife crisis sufferers.

Actually, I take my glasses off so I can't see anything more than 5 feet in front of me:rotfl2: . The guys at my gym are like the guys at any gym, I suppose.

Checking in - not much to report from here.

Today was a scheduled cross training day - I slept in. In the 18 week training schedule leading up to the MCM (with cross training scheduled once a week), I skipped all but one or two of the cross training days. Why start now for my second marathon?:confused3

Gotta go, still at work . . .
