Hey All: I wanted to send out my best wishes to Lou, SilverSteve, and Chester. Seems like you all are dealing with some major life/work issues lately. Hang in there, and fill us in when you can.

Hiya to everyone else.

How's your head Sara? I might be interested in that Lake Placid Half Marathon too! I'm teetering on putting my name in for the NYC Marathon lottery too.

How's your head Sara? I might be interested in that Lake Placid Half Marathon too!
Vanity aside, the head's okay - thanks for asking:hug: . I do have a pretty nice bruise above my right eyebrow and of course we had sales guys in house this week:rolleyes1 so I had the bangs going on big time:rotfl: . As for Lake Placid, it would be SO great if you could run it:thumbsup2 . At my awards banquet last night I found out at least two of my running club members will be running it so I am psyched to be able to carpool. I hope all goes well for you in Indy today.

Lou - :wizard: for your work issues. I hope you get through it quickly and as painlessly as possible.

Cindy - That's crazy about your water bottle freezing:scared1: . Actually, I had that happen to me with Gatorade and it made it a nice slushy consistency so I didn't mind all that much. I really hope life slows down for you a bit and don't sweat the lack of running.

Colleen - (Sorry Mike) I totally agree, NO minivan. DH used to drive one but you wouldn't catch me in it. It screams too many things I just can't commit or admit to:lmao: .

Mike - Can you please try to be observant of your neighbor's rear view and let me know if the Fluidity's helping out any:rotfl:? Kathy, he completely knows I am SO joking so don't let him say it's all my fault:rolleyes1 . We say "farting around" in upstate NY:thumbsup2 . I can't comment on your running because I am way too jealous;) .

Jodi - Better a 10 mile limit than the 5 mile one I seem to have going on but then again I don't have any ULTRA's in my near future:rotfl2: . I hope you've achieved XT bliss and you're psyched for a nice LR this weekend:banana: . See above for the explanation of my absence:rolleyes1 popcorn::

Claimed my hardware last night:yay: . That wasn't as bad as having to perform my club secretary duties by reading the club minutes for a mess load of people:headache: . Usually there are only 15-20 people at the meetings and last night is was closer to 75. Not my idea of fun but it's done so I'm over it. Ran 4 miles on the TM this morning. I am going to try for 6 tomorrow. I will call the Embassy Suites today as well and report as I am able.

Happy training to all this weekend:cheer2:

[BCindy[/B] - When stuff freezes...that means you should be in a GYM!!! oh yeh, you're too cheap for that...oh no, that's me.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: . So glad you signed up for GOOFY, that's awesome, you'll do fine...and giving up beer for 10lbs is SO not worth it:rotfl: . WTG on your tempo runs & training in general, you seem to be doing really well!

Sara - NICE:thumbsup2 , a shiner on your forehead!! I'm so proud of you:banana: look at you with a trophy & all!! Please post a picture. Nice job on getting a run in on the dreadmill! How much snow are YOU supposed to get? I'm going to have to sign up for Lake Placid soon...:dance3:

Dave - That'd be sooo cool if you ran Lake Placid! C'mon!! How's Indiana treating you? Sign up for the NYC lottery, PLEASE! That'd be a blast! We could do NYC, then Philly a few weeks later. :wizard: For the hip.

Mike - re: the lady on the dredmill in the gym...I would've snapped!! I HATE people in general - wait, did I just put that in writing? - (who'd've guessed), I meant I hate people @ the gym...ahem...anyway, like you said, at least she made the time go by! What's on tap for you as far as LR this weekend? 25 miles or something?

Colleen - Hey! Are you doing a trip to Disney in the spring still?? Are you walking? Are you teaching? Sign up for NYC! Everyone sign up for NYC

Lou, Steve, Chester - Hope all is well with all of you!! Check in when you can, & don't even stress the running or lack there of...Use it to relieve stress when you can squeeze it in.

OK, I gotta go work:rotfl2: , I know, sounds funny. I CT for 30 yesterday, ran 4 on Weds, will run today b4 the snow & see what happens tomorrow & Sun... I signed up for the DisneyWorld 1/2:woohoo: ...and so did my niece, my brother & my MOM! :yay: popcorn:: popcorn:: None of whom run all that much:scared1:

Colleen - Hey! Are you doing a trip to Disney in the spring still?? Are you walking? Are you teaching? Sign up for NYC! Everyone sign up for NYC

1. Yes, Disney at the end of June sans DH, avec DSis et DNephew,

2. Oui, 5 miles yesterday.

3. A-ha, 2 hours/day plus the girls I tutor privately.

4. NYC, yes, but I am going to wait a bit...

Lottery Applications

First I have to say

HOLY %$^$ the Wind!!!

Mike, I hope you aren't doing your 20 miles today.

But, even with the wind, I had a great run today. I really needed that. It was an 11 mile race-sim; 6 miles easy + 5 miles at race pace plus 20-30 seconds. All of my last 5 miles were less than 20 seconds over race pace and 2.5 of those miles were into the wind. I guess that is faster than I should have run, but I felt good, so I just went with it.

Dave - I hope your talk in Indy went well.

Jodi -  You signed up for the DW half.

Sara - I like the new avitar!

Lou - I hope the work issues improve for you soon.

Colleen - :wave2:

Remember that blister that I've been complaining about for a few weeks? I did end up having to drain the fluid out of it (that was gross) but it still just won't go away. Every time I run it gets a little bit worse. This morning it looked like the skin was all hard and stuff and I thought it would be fine. Not so much. Its all squishy and nasty again. I feel like I should give it a name . . .

Cindy - Your blister's name is FRED!! Pop that sucker one more time, then pour rubbing alcohol on it & leave yourself barefooted for the rest of the day. Um, not sure if that is feasible anytime soon, but that's how I got rid of a real nasty bee-atch-blister about a year ago! WTG!!!!!:thumbsup2 on your awesome 11 miler...in the wind no less!! I'm so happy for you:banana: . You needed that, huh? See, I told you all would be fine:3dglasses , good for you!

Colleen - You're gonna have a great time in Disney, but what's with the responses peppered with french stuff? I thought you were an american-canadian, not a frenchone:rotfl: .

Just a quick driveby peeps - waiting to read everyone elses LR reports (or any reports) for today.

I managed 6 miles yesterday in the arctic air & it felt good:woohoo: . I'm going to take today off (too wet & slushy out there) and see what happens tomorrow. It's a "short" LR weekend for me this week, so...

:grouphug: Hi to the rest of my peeps who are all going to sign up for NYC 1/2 & full...hint hint.:hippie:

Cindy - Yippee for the great run for you and Fred the blister. Keep a poppin' him! I didn't get a chance to get out Saturday for the 20 mile around town tour and I guess I'm glad I didn't with the wind. Some time in the next few days though.

but what's with the responses peppered with french stuff? I thought you were an american-canadian, not a frenchone:rotfl: .
La Théta - J'ai adoré le français but you would definitely not pass as a French Canadian from my experience. All my habitant family is about 5' 3" with noses the size of a toucan (my apologies to any family, French Canadians, big-nosed people, or toucans lurking that I may have offended).

Miss Congeniality - Sounds like you're taking everyone but Bruce to WDW next January. How the heck are you going to corral that many people up for the mad post-race dash to the airport?

Are you following an actual training plan or making it up as you go?

Sara - We want pictures of your award (and your forehead goose-egg).

I may or may not get a chance to do my 20 miles this morning. It might have to wait another day or two.

Kathy and the girls stopped at the paint store Saturday to pick up color samples  . My week off is going to be filled with more painting than running I'm afraid.

Goodbye for now dear friends.

Oh, I think that is in our forecast as well! We have 6 years of little dirty, greasy fingerprints on our walls. It has been driving me CRAZY for about a year now, so I think this is the Spring to get it done.

Just back from another out of town swim meet this weekend. Therefore, no training for me, hopefully I will be able to get out for a walk this evening.

Off to do laundry, hopefully I will have time to jump back on tonight to reply to y'all.

Au revoir mon amis.

Hey Folks,

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Well, I did my 20 miler today. All in all, pretty darn good, I'm happy to report.

It was a perfect day today; low 50's, lots of sun, nice breeze, much like MCM day but a touch cooler. I did have Jodi-stop at mile 6. I'm sure all the folks at Panera just loved me strolling through while they ate :faint: .

I don't know much about this whole running thing, but the first mile or two after a productive mid-run Jodi-stop are just about as good as it gets!!

The last 14 miles went pretty well with only a couple quick walking water breaks, more because I thought I should than because I was dying. I was tired and ready to be done but felt I still had some gas in the tank and could have maintained a decent pace for a few more miles if I had to.

ChiChi - You'd be so proud. I even focused on a couple of Chi techniques for the last half: Keeping my ankles relaxed (made me feel a bit like a prancing sugar plum fairy, but seemed to help), keeping my shoulders down, and pumping my elbows back to maintain the circular movement. Not ready for the big lean yet, but we'll see ;) .

Do you get credit at the Chi Cult for getting someone to join?

Theta-Beta-Princess-Math-Mamma - Since you want to paint anyway, why don't you come up to our house and do a few rooms as a warm up :thumbsup2 . Think of it as a painting-LR on your training plan for painting your house.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Please check in and let us know what's up.

Mike - I'm glad that your 20 went well. I guess this means you are in for the full?

I had a terrible run this morning, which I am fine with. I knew it was going to be terrible from the moment I got up. My body just didn't want to run. After my 11 on Sat., I ran 4 easy miles yesterday. Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I have to catch an early train to NYC tomorrow so I moved Tuesday's intervals to today. Was supposed to do 6 x 1200 meters. Only did 5. In addition to feeling tired, FRED was really bothering me. It's not even really a blister any more, more like a giant callus with a strip of skin right in the middle of the bottom of my foot that burns like crazy. I don't want to use the "i" word, but all signs are pointing that way. I won't be doing any running for the next 2 days so hopefully, that will help. I keep putting hydrogen peroxide on it, but there is not really an open wound so it seems kind of stupid.:confused3

I get back from NY Thursday afternoon, so I probably won't have the chance to check back in or catch up with everyone until then.

Have a great week, everyone!

Cindy - Give Fred a break while you're in NYC (and have fun) & try dousing him with rubbing alcohol instead of peroxide - alcohol will dry him out more!

OptiPooper - Isn't that post-jodiStop running a special feeling?? And I thought I was the only one...:lmao: Seriously, you feel lighter, don't'cha? WTG on the 20 miler, so proud of you:cutie: ! Listen, if I got a kick-back from the CHIDaliLama I'd be pushin' that thing all OVER these threads:hippie: , you know?;) . Seriously, it does help, no? You'll notice it more & more as you apply it more & more! Good Luck with it. I struggle with it daily:rotfl2: .

Theta-Cheri - Stop farting around with the french-creepy stuff:confused: Happy walking today.

I ran 8 yesterday, Sat. off, 6 Fri. Both runs felt real good!!:)

BTW, to answer your question, PoopyMan, no I'm not following any training plan for the ultra...Um, I suppose I had better sit down with a calendar soon, though, and figure something out, as it's not too far off now. When's your marathon with Fred/Cindy?? And how's Kathy's training for the Minnie going?

I'm back. And I still have a job!

Skiing in Utah was great. A snow storm hit about an hour after we landed in Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon. It snowed all day on Monday while we skied at Deer Valley. On Tuesday, The skies were clear and deep blue while we skied at Solitude. Clear skies continued on Wednesday and Thursday when we skied at Alta. The outdoor hot tub and heated pool were perfect after each long day of skiing. I got plenty of cross training in with only a couple of unexpected tumbles.

Tuesday night I'll start back into running. Scheduled for this week is:

Tuesday 5
Wednesday 8
Thursday 5
Saturday 8
Sunday 18 (probably will be less)

Time to quit Monkey Fartin' around.

Chester, for the job and:rotfl: for getting back at it.

Fred, you must vacate the premises! Cindy's got some training to do!

Mike, sorry must turn down the painting gig.

Jodi, hey girl, happy to hear you are getting you Chi back!

Sara, congrats on the award, was it a plaque or a trophy?

I walked 4 FAST miles today!!:yay: :yay:

I got paid today!!!:yay: :yay:

Maybe I will hire painters with my cash I earned this month. That should pay for one bathroom wall.

I got plenty of cross training in with only a couple of unexpected tumbles.
Chester - Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time. I guess I would have no unexpected tumbles since I would be expecting to face plant at any moment!

Peg-leg Cindy - I know you won't see this (unless you are wirelessly and computerlessly tapped into this witty little thread) but I hope your tootsie gets better. Oh, and yes, I'm in for the full (never really wasn't, I guess).

CHIDaliLama  - Fred, Hop-along, and I are running for our lives Saturday, March 29. You don't need no stinkin' plan! You seem to know what you're doing (assuming you throw a long run or two in there sometime).

HickoryChick - Nice job on the the fast-4!! Also, thanks for contibruting to Social Security. I hope to retire early and can use all the help I can get. No painting, huh? Rats!

Today was a rest day. I'll try to get 8 in tomorrow before starting to apply the latex based pigments.

Chester - WELCOME HOME! So glad you're back, safe & sound & employed (that's always a novelty, eh?)! Sounds like you had a terrific week weather wise...& no falls that would put Cher in a black dress...:thumbsup2 Now! back to running with yepirate:

Mike - I'll help paint...I paint real good...as if:rotfl2: . I suck at anything that can't be done in the "hack job" category...precision is not my strong point! Are you painting the rooms pixie pink or the like? March 29 for the full, eh? Wow, that's coming up soon, you're sooo ready! I plan to run 12 or something this weekend & work my way up to one LR of 20...like your old adage for the GOOFY, "why train for torture"?

Colleenemployed - :yay: Paycheck & walks...all in one day? And it ain't even Christmas!! When are you putting in for the NYC lottery? The same day MIKE does:rolleyes1 Have you gotten any good airfares for your trip to Disney in June?

Sara - Are you in a coma now? Where are the photos of your hardware, dude? Or was this all a second life your alter-ego concocted after that smack upside your head?:headache: Like your own little bizzaro-world:confused: ...I mean, you DO know you're not going to Bejing this summer, right? :rotfl:

Fred - Dude, cut a sister some slack & scram, huh?

Hi to all those missing. Um, I ran 5 miles today (& left work early to do it, too).

Colleenemployed - :yay: Paycheck & walks...all in one day? And it ain't even Christmas!! When are you putting in for the NYC lottery? The same day MIKE does:rolleyes1 Have you gotten any good airfares for your trip to Disney in June?

Yeah, NYC entry when Mike does!

Yeah, flights for Disney in June already booked. AirTran had a sale and an additional $25 off if you booked it on February 14th weekend. All good to go.

Chester - Good to see you are back on track.

Colleen - Congrats on the pay and have fun painting walls.

Mike - Have fun painting as well. Better you than me, I cannot stand painting.

Hi Jodi and hi to everyone I missed.

I'm back today. It's be a stressful 2 weeks but I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Basically, the company I worked for (which is owned by one person), decided to close its doors a few weeks ago. Although I am close with the owner this was somewhat of a shock. The down real estate market and the owner's personal debt finally did us in. That's the bad news.

The good news is I am in the process of going out on my own. My old company is going to throw all lot of the existing work my way so I already have clients. I just need to deal with getting work done and, most importantly, how I am going to pay myself while I am waiting for clients to pay. That's the stressful part.

Everything should get clearer today as I am about to cut a deal with another local firm that will become my partner. It's too complicated to explain. As DW would say, "you're shady." :-)

What have I done running wise? I threw in my hat in the ring for the NYC Marathon last week. I also ran 14 miles on Sunday in pretty decent weather. This Sunday I head to Wilmington, DE for a 1/2 marathon. It's my first race action since WDW. Howard, will you be running this Caesar Rodney Race? I'm not that excited but I'm sure I'll feel different when I get there. That's all for me for now.

Lou

Hi:yay: The problem with the hardware pic is DH is Mr. A/V in our family and I am a control freak so I hate that I can't take the stupid pic and post it by myself. It's his camera so I am clueless. I do have an old digital camera that I will try to use b4 the end of the week. It is a trophy but what's funny is that they had a whole table of old trophys and you just picked the one you liked and put the name plaque on it:thumbsup2 .

Lou - Glad to see you back and that things are going to work out okay in the long run for you:woohoo: . Best of luck in Wilmington this weekend:cheer2: .

Jodi - I'm in a snow coma, that's for sure:headache: . Are you sick of it yet?! I have had enough of winter and it definitely has me down:sad2: . I am always in my own little world and it really works well for me:thumbsup2 .

Mike - Have fun on the 8 before getting down to business with the painting:banana: . Sweet job on the 20 miler BTW:cool1: .

Colleen - Congrats on the 4 fast walking miles and for getting paid:cool1: . Glad you're flights are booked for WDW.

Chester - So nice your trip was awesome and that you made it home safely while still maintaining gainful employment:woohoo: . The plan for the week looks great and best of luck on the 18 or so this weekend:cheer2: .

Cindy - :wizard: for Fred. I hope he makes an abrupt departure and you're as good as new. Enjoy NYC and hopefully it'll be the break you need to heal the foot.

4 miles this morning on the TM and an hour of yoga. I'm keeping the pains at bay for the moment so I am happy:cloud9: .

Happy training and racing to all this week:cheer2:

Thanks to everyone for the welcoming back.

Colleen
Let me know if you want to hire an architect to select the color to paint the one bathroom wall. I'm trying to line up all the freelance work that I can.

Mike
Most of the tumbles came when I relaxed too much on the cruiser trails and the one time I ventured off trail through some powder. Expecting to faceplant usually keeps me alert and on my toes. Now I have a full year to regress.

Jodi
Tracy didn't have to put on a black dress either. But I thought that I might have to go buy a black suit - Saturday I replaced the brake pads and rotors on Miranda's car and tried to get Tracy to find a steep hill to test them out on. Unfortunately, there are no steep hills in Florida.:rotfl:

Lou
The best of luck to you to get your business up and running. It looks like you have a good head start.

Sara
I think I am going to cut the 18 down to 13, then run 18 on the 16th and 20 on the 23rd.

I might be looking at a late June marathon. Tracy and I are planning on taking a 24th anniversary trip and I might try to squeeze a race in Anchorage or Oregon into the itinerary. What can I say?, I'm just a romantic at heart.:lovestruc

Happy Training,

Chester

I'll help paint...I paint real good...as if:rotfl2: . I suck at anything that can't be done in the "hack job" category...precision is not my strong point! Are you painting the rooms pixie pink or the like?
JoChi - Precision? You obviously have me confused with that other painter named Mike that liked to paint church ceilings in Italy. No pixie pink (DD7 already has that). Today was Rhapsody Lilac which is paint can speak for light purple. Next up is Lime Granita which is inferior decorator code for light green.

Can't comment about the quality of your runs lately, but you've really stepped it up a notch with the posts;
"no falls that would put Cher in a black dress"
Superior work!

Chester - You are the romantic devil. Nothing says "I'd marry you all over again" like a late June marathon. I've already been given the warning that all or vacations are NOT to be running related.

Sara - I understand about the camera deal. That's Kathy's stuff.

Pretty cool about the trophy. Did you pick one with a hockey player on it or something? Glad you're currently pain free.

Lou - Best of luck with the new venture. Sounds like you've got a pretty good plan figured out (unlike Jodi's training plan).

Colleen - Maybe you ought not wait for me to put my name in the NYC lottery hat. I suppose I'll have to try that one down the road sometime but if you really must know, I've never been to the big city either and am more than a little intimidated at the thought of it all.

Dave - Back from Indy yet?

Alrighty then. I ran 8+ this morning. Still feeling the leftovers of Sunday's LR a bit but nothing too bad. Supposed to do an 8 mile tempo run on Wednesday but I'll have to see how that fits in with the Lime Granita.
