Lou:

No, I am not running it. I plan to next year. I ran it in 2006. It was my first half marathon and still is my PR 1:59:33. Good Luck running it! Please post your results. Let us all know how you like the hill at mile 6. :headache:  :scared:

I have been knee deep in my studies. I am also involved in a case competition which ends on 3/15 with two rounds of presentations in front of judges. The top team splits $3,000 (4 team members), second place splits $1,500, third place splits $500.

Wish me luck, and/or that I make it through this semester alive!

Great training everyone, I am inspired by you all. I cannot wait until June when I can begin my training!!!!

Hey DisBots!

Well, I posted this lavish literary gem yesterday, but somehow it didn't make it on the boards, so here's the shortened version:

Dave - I heard you won the dine w/ Kevin contest!!:thumbsup2 , WTG, dude, when are you going down, how's the hip, RU running, how's work, how're the girls?

Sara - Snow sucks, NYRRC.org is where you go to enter lottery for NYC 1/2, do it NOW, kudos on the running:banana: are you still pain free? What's the deal w/ our Philly hotel room? Maybe I should just stay @ the airport?:rotfl:

Colleen - RU swimming out of town again this weekend? Walking?

Lou - popcorn:: Holy crap! A few curveballs thrown your way, eh? Good deal, making lemonade & all that positive talk...I'm sure your new business will be prosperous!:wizard: :woohoo: How's runnin?

Michael - OK, so you've never been to NYC either? Seen the ocean yet since you left Ohio?:sad2: , sheesh, come out from underneath that rock! Take your girls to see "Little Mermaid" on Broadway...run a marathon...or 1/2:rolleyes1 Hey, you'd be proud, I am not leaving right after the 1/2 marathon @ Disney in Jan. In fact, I'm not leaving until...wait for it...the MONDAY afterwards!!!!!:confused3

Chester - With a 24th anniversary celebration like that you wouldn't have to worry about securing reservations anywhere for a 25th:rotfl: . But that's just me...spoiled & pampered, ya know?

Cindy - How's Fred? How's NYC, did you get out b4 the explosion this a.m.?

Howard - Wow, school sounds absolutely intriguing, even to a dullard like myself! Keep up the good work & pop in when you can.:dance3:

SteveS - Hope ya'll are ok

I ran 6 yesterday, will run 4 or 5 today, CTd 40 mins. on Tues, off tomorrow, supposed to LR Sat, but rain:guilty: , perhaps I'll push it off to Sun., though I hate to, I'd rather just get it over with. Bruce will say (insert Marine Corps drill instructor voice) "the weather should not even be a factor for you at this point". What a ****!

Hi Everyone:
Dave - I heard you won the dine w/ Kevin contest!!:thumbsup2 , WTG, dude, when are you going down, how's the hip, RU running, how's work, how're the girls?
Jodi- I did win. I heard it yesterday, and I was shocked. Right now we're thinking of trying to go down in August for summer vacation. It's all kind of dependent on my job situation though. If I don't have a job by then, we can't justify spending a lot of money to go to Disney. So we'll see.

I've been slowly doing more running. My hip still feels funky though. It's pretty frustrating. Anyhow, I did 2 miles straight on the TM at 10 mpm pace. I did 10 min on the bike before and after that. My hip felt OK, not great, but OK. I'm hoping if I build up slowly things will work themselves out.

Work has been busy. My teaching job has been taking a ton of time. In fact, I need to figure out what I'm doing in class today. Gotta run!

Chester - With a 24th anniversary celebration like that you wouldn't have to worry about securing reservations anywhere for a 25th:rotfl: . But that's just me...spoiled & pampered, ya know?

I've already got plans in the works for the 25th anniversary trip - 2009 HONOLULU MARATHON:banana:.

ALERT!! OFF WORLD ACTIVATION!!

Stopped by to say :wave2: ! You ALL are just an awesome bunch of people!! :worship: I've been trying to catch your races to post on the WISH calendar..but whoooo wheeee!! I can't keep up! And now you're speaking French, :faint:

Ya'll are just waaaaayyyy too fast and smart for little ole me! :cutie: (said in my best Southern accent) . If ya'll could just do a quick upcoming events post or PM me, I'd be ever so greatful..as would the rest of the team!!

In the words of Cam, "Love ya, mean it!!"

You may resume your regularly scheduled activities :teacher: :artist: :mic: :chat: :car: :yoda: :drinking:

Hi everyone!

I'm back from NY. I was busy with work stuff the entire time I was there, so no time for any fun. Fred is good, not gone, but not a problem on my (otherwise seriously difficult) tempo run today. I'm going to have a busy day today at work but I'm looking forward to this weekend - I should only have to work for a few hours  I'll catch up then. I'm starting to really think that there might be an end to my 60+ hour work weeks! Happy Friday!

Seen the ocean yet since you left Ohio?:sad2: , sheesh, come out from underneath that rock!
Amerigo Vespucci - Um, there is no ocean near Ohio :confused3 . That would be Lake Erie.

Staying until Monday after the WDW half on Saturday? WTH?? Better watch out. You're going tarnish the myth, the legend that is "Jodi's post-race dash".

Lou
- Good luck in the Caesar Salad-Rodney King race this weekend. I hope it goes well for you.

Dave - Congratulations on winning the contest. I don't know who Kevin is, but if he's buying it's all good:thumbsup2 . I hope the hip continues to improve.

Fred - Welcome back. Behave yourself!

Howard - Good luck with your competition. You will be done before you know it.

Colleen and Sara - HI!

It was a week of 8's for me. 8 on Tues, Weds, and Thurs. Rest day today and something too long this weekend.

Take care!

Miketimator - No dude, I mean since you got OUT of Ohio, have you ventured out to see the ocean (since you're living so close to it now) or has that rock got you pinned down:rolleyes: How's Kathy's training going?

Lou - :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: Good luck this weekend!! Have fun & I hope the rain misses you. Will be anxiously awaiting a report popcorn:: .

Frindy - Glad you're home in one piece.

OK, left work early, again! to go home & run. I broke my 10 mile bump & went 14 today. It was a bit rough those last few miles & you guys DO NOT want the details of the JodiStop @ mile 7 or so:sad2: , oh I'm so embarrassed:scared1: . I've got a Fred jr. on my left, ritng toe (is that anatomically correct?), well not a fullblown blister, just a hot spot. Tomorrow rest b/c of megarain. We'll see about Sun.:rolleyes1

Hey peeps,

Anne, good luck getting all these disbot's races straight, I can't!:confused3 All I know is that I have NOTHING planned. DH and I once agreed that we shouldn't train for marathons at the same time and I don't have one on the docket because he is chewing up a lot of our family time with his Boston training.

Cindy welcome back.

Jodi, wow, 14 miles, I remember when.

Mike, I enjoy watching you and Jodi squabble and take jabs at each other like an old married couple.popcorn::

Chester, I have had Honolulu in the back of my mind for a while. We almost had a Hawaii trip planned for last Christmas, but decided the kids were a little too young. Honolulu marathon may be my last kick at the cat.

Hi Dave, Howard, Sara and Steve!:)

All good in this neck of the woods. Yoga this morning and two 5 mile walks this week. I also managed to control my eating the last few weeks and lost a few pounds.

Later gaters!

I am now caught up!

Chester - welcome back. Sounds like you had a great time skiing.

Lou - Good luck on the half tomorrow. Glad things seem to be working out work-wise. Good luck with that too.

Howard - Good luck with the rest of your semester! Do you get a spring break soon?

Dave - that's so cool that you won! I have the podcasts on my shuffle ready for tomorrow's run.

Sara - glad to hear that you are able to stay pain free.

Colleen - your post about flights reminded me, I need to book my flights for my August WDW trip. DH and I finally booked our flights this morning for RnR San Diego. I was hoping for some great rate, but we got a little under $300 round trip per person on SW, so I guess that will have to do.

Jodi - If you are embarrased about the Jodistop, it must be a good story popcorn::

Mike - so, have you actually registered for the race yet? What do you have this weekend? Are you doing a second 20?

It is a rainy, miserable day today here. Good thing it's a rest day. I've got 16 on tap for tomorrow and the weather should be better. I want to say that I am looking forward to it becasue it will be nice to be able to run slow instead of all this fast running I've been doing, but that is what I thought before my 14 miler 2 weeks ago, and that was a disaster.

As for other things I would like to complain about today - I can't believe day light savings time starts tomorrrow! It was just starting to get a little bit light for my runs and now I will be plunged into darkness again. Sucks. This time last year, I was still running on the treadmill so it didn't phase me.

Yesterday I ran a tempo run (7 miles, 5 at tempo pace) that convinced me that I am not ready for a 2 hour half. The 5 miles were supposed to be a half marathon pace - 9:10 for a 2 hour. I was feeling pretty good yesterday morning and for the first 3 tempo miles. The fourth mile was noticeably harder and by the fifth mile, I was really struggling. My average HR for the fourth mile was 189 and for the fifth it was 190. There is clearly no way I can run at that pace for 13 miles. But, from past runs, I'm pretty sure that slowing the pace down by 10 to 15 seconds makes a huge difference. So, I think my new goal is for a 2 hour 2 minute half. Doesn't sound as catchy, but it will have to do for now.

Honolulu marathon may be my last kick at the cat.
Division Diva - I've heard a few sayings over the years, but that's a new one for me. I'll be forwarding that and your home address to the NC chapter of the S.P.C.A.. ;)

Old married couples squabble and take jabs at each other?? :confused3 I know not of what you speak  How's DH's training?

Cindy - A 2:02 half sounds every exotic. Anyone can settle on a nice round number like 2 hours. What's DH shooting for?

Most of my runs are later morning or evening, so the time change is welcome for me. Sorry it messes with your life.

I actually signed up for the full just today. I should have really done it last fall when I KNEW that I was going to run it. Woulda' saved 30 bucks.

What kind of masochistic training plan are you following?? A 16 miler for a half?? I mean, more power to you and all, but if your going to all that much trouble add a couple of miles on the LR and train for the full.

I'm scheduled for 16 miles this weekend then 20 miles next. I've got no qualms about blowing off a big chunk of the 16 this weekend but also have half an idea to wait until the girls go to bed tonight, pop a LONG DVD in and run on the TM until the movie is done. We'll see.

JoDooDoo - I'm with Cindy. If a Jodistop story embarrases you, I can't even imagine:scared1: . One word: Depends!

Yes, I've seen the ocean. I saw a picture on the internet! So, there!!

Nice job on the 14!!

Kathy's training for Minnie is going great. She's been doing lots of XT and putting the miles in. She had her fastest mile ever yesterday:yay: . All the weight training has been paying off too. She's been pushing furniture all over the place this week as we rearrange the freshly painted rooms. Worries me more than a bit since she is prone to trying to kick my a** when I've said something stupid (which, believe it or not, does happen from time to time:confused: ).

Help me out with the new Avatar. It looks like your MCM garb, maybe in an airline seat? Is that the result of you changing your clothes in the plane after the race?

I got some potentially cool running news this week. I signed up on the Brooks website to be a part of there shoe wear tester program a few months ago. They sent me an e-mail this week saying that I had been selected. They asked what size and type (neutral) shoe I wear and said they would send 1 or 2 pairs a year for me to evaluate. I don't really know any details yet, but it sounds pretty neat (Plus, free shoes!!).

Lou:

How did you do? It was cool and very breezy here today. I hope you enjoyed the challenge of the Caesar Rodney Half here in Wilmington.

Howard

Hello everyone...sorry I have been away but I'm still trying to sort out some work issues. Going out on your own is not even close to being fun right now.

Cindy - I hear you on the 60-hour work weeks. It has to get easier...right? Good luck with your 16.

Mike - Thanks for the good wishes on the Caesar Rodney Allen Rippy race I ran today. I have to check out these free shoes deals. You can't beat free shoes.

Jodi - Way to go on the 14! Sounds like an interesting run with the JodiStop and the blister. I had a minor bathroom 911 incident before my race today. Thank God I know my way around Wilmington and managed to slip into a Windam hotel a few blocks from the start. Had the whole warm bathroom to myself. :woohoo:

Colleen - Nice work. Yoga, a couple of walks and dropped a few pounds...sounds like a good week to me.

Hello to everyone else I missed.

Today I ran my first race since WDW. It was a 1/2 marathon in Wilmington, DE called the Caesar Rodney 1/2 Marathon. I have no idea who Caesar Rodney is but must have been one tough son of a gun because his race is murder. I posted a race report here...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23691640#post23691640

I have another busy week ahead but I'll try to check out the thread during the week. I think my next race should be on May 4. It will either be the Broad Street Run which is a 10-mile point-to-point run in Philly or the NJ Marathon. I'm leaning towards Broad Street right now.

Have a nice week everyone!

Lou

Howard - It went well. I finished in 1:46:05 which was a PR for me. The wind and hills were rough. The cold didn't bother me as much as the wind. It was actually a nice race. Did you run it?

It was actually a nice race.

Alright Mr. Split Personality: I read your race report and got the distinct impression it was not "a nice race". Which is it flip-flopper?

Great time for such a tough course!!

I hope the job stuff settles down for you over the next little bit.

"Fair" race but I don't expect to drop $45 on it in 2009 unless they toss in a medal. However, I didn't want to offend the guy from DE. It is his home state.

Lou, Congratulations on the great run!!

Mike, is all the furniture back in place? Are you and Kathy still speaking? If so, all is good with the world. DH and I can't do home improvement projects together,:scared1: we value our marriage too much!:rolleyes1 About 5 years ago, we thought it was a good idea for us to put up a new backsplash in our kitchen...cutting tile, grouting, lions, tigers and bears, oh my!! Let's just say, thank goodness the kids were too small to remember the events of that weekend! :)

Cindy, how was your 16 miler?

Jodi, did you enter the Disney half-marathon? The full is already 50% full! I hope I still have a good 4 months before I have to decide on that one!
I always said last year was my last, but I don't want to miss out if all the McPhilly's are going to be there.:)

Sara, how are you feeling? Any running?

Sara[/B], how are you feeling? Any running?
Dare I say I actually ran 7:cool1: miles yesterday with no ill effects:woohoo: . I am actually starting to feel like a runner again:banana: . :rotfl: About your home improvement projects with DH. I definitely know what you mean:confused3 .

Lou - :worship: You rock!! Awesome job on the PR. I've been inspired for sure! Here's some :wizard: for the job transition.

Mike - Congrats on the Brooks shoe tester status. That is really cool!So glad to hear Kathy's training is going great for the Minnie:cheer2: . Were you able to squeeze in 16 this weekendpopcorn::?

Cindy - How was your LR? Did you guys get that terrible wind? A 2:02 1/2 is an awesome goal and definitely obtainable since you've been diligently putting in the miles:thumbsup2 . Has Fred left the building?

Jodi - Glad you broke through the 10 mile mark:cool1: . I have to say, it was mainly due to you that I did 7 yesterday. I figured if you could push past the barrier then I'd better give it a try as well:confused: . I'd been stuck at 5 miles for too long. Any running this past weekendpopcorn:: ?

Dave, Chester & Steve - :wave2:

So glad to be feeling semi back in the groove:cheer2: . 7 yesterday and 4 today. I think my training plan starts in two weeks for the Lake Placid 1/2 so I am just going to play it by ear until then. Let's hope the weather takes a turn for the better and it'll lend a bit of inspiration to running.

Hi, I'm Mike and I'm a WISHaholic. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and my first thought was that I should have told Lou "Congrats on the Caesar Romero-Rodney Dangerfield Half" vs. the generic "Great race" that I posted :confused3 :rotfl: .

I am actually starting to feel like a runner again:banana:
Sara - Yippee!!! Great news that you are feeling good!

I did get 16 miles in Saturday night on the TM. Definitely a quantity, not quality run. I was more motivated to see Tom Hanks save Private Ryan than to keep up any respectable pace. I know some people think "miles are miles" but I'll only claim those with a bit of guilt.

Colleen - Old married couples squabble over home improvent project?? I know not of what it is that you speak ;) .

Gotta go. I'm an official driver for DD4's pre-K trip to the library this morning. Her first field trip! She's excited so I guess I'll pretend to be too.

Greetings Everyone:

I know it's been a while since I posted - sorry about that. On Saturday I biked 10 min, ran 4 miles on the TM, and biked another 30 min. :thumbsup2 It was my longest run in a long time. I took it very slow, and stuck at a 10 mpm pace. My hip felt OK, a little sore, but all and all it was OK. This morning I ran 4 miles on the TM again. :thumbsup2 Again, nice and slow, 10 mpm pace, but I think I'm starting to kick this hip thingy. If all goes well this week, I thought I would jump into a 5 mile race on Saturday. Not that I want to run fast, I'll still take it nice and slow, but I thought it would be good to run outside again. I haven't done that since January.

Sara- great job on your 7 miler. I'm so glad you're starting to feel better.

Mike- Did you get a hat for the Cleveland Marathon? I guess I registered early enough for the early bird special, and they sent me a nice "Headsweats" Cleveland Marathon running hat. I was wondering if you got one too.

Hi Colleen- You crack me up that you're considering running the Disney marathon again. Has it been two months since you said you ran your "last" one?

Lou- Great job on your half marathon this weekend!

Hi Jodi- What were you up to this weekend?

Cindy- I'm soooo impressed with your mileage. How'd your 16 miler go?

OK, gotta run. Hello to everyone else out there I missed.
