[ColleenHow far of a drive is it for you anyway?

Mapquest tells me it is 6 hours and 40 minutes. We have never driven that direction before, so I have no idea what the interstates are like. Our drive to Disney is 10 hours and we've made that trip pretty handily many times.

Colleen - :yay: :yay: :yay: That'd be soooooo way cool if you came!! Tell your DH to give me a call if need be, I'll give him a talkin' to:rotfl2: , you know, set him straight. Good luck with that MRI:grouphug:

Sara - I KNEW you were going to the WORLD alone. Luckeeee! Is it scary riding that MARC thing all the way from Baltimore? Think we should stick with the rental car?:confused3 . I'm real good w/ maps (I think), what would you recommend? And what would be quicker?

Colleen - :yay: :yay: :yay: That'd be soooooo way cool if you came!!

Jodi, you do realize that if I came, you and your DH would have to check out at least one museum with my family!:grouphug: DH and DD are pretty easy going and DS10 is a hoot! You NEVER know what is going to come out of his mouth. Maybe we could convince Sara, Mike and the girls to meet up with us somewhere during the day. Listen to me, planning a trip DH doesn't even know about. What else is new!

MRI went well, I got in really fast. Actually procedure took about 20 minutes but at times it was a little freaky! I just got my Chi-on :hippie: and I was good!

Colleen - I'm there! I'd love to meet your family! So, you plan trips w/o your husband's knowledge as well? :rotfl: I just tell my DH when to be ready & off we go:lmao: . Glad the MRI went well, I'll send some Chi:hippie: your way for results. BTW, how'd you like Goofy last year, I mean, despite the heat. What was your running strategy for the 1/2 & full? Just wondering what I should do:confused3 . Need advice from you & the other one Sara about this.

Colleen - If you come to DC I will hang out with you for sure!! We're staying at the same hotel so it'll be so easy:banana: .

Jodi - Keep the rental car for sure. Goofy is NUTS:crazy: . Take it easy on the 1/2 and do what you can on the full. You know I had to buy gear today online...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH:cool1: Fess up, what gear did you buy????? I love hearing how other people spend there $, did you find anything cool?? Also, where are you guys staying (notice I said guys, 'cause Colleen's still going)?

Jodi - I really need to be able to carry Biofreeze, Tylenol and a few gels plus some other junk so I just bought a really lightweight belt that hopefully won't drive me crazy. I didn't wear a belt in my June marathon and I regretted it. I can't wear anything heavy since I don't have hips:confused3 to speak of and it just bounces too much.

Look at you ladies chatting it up!

Colleen - I'm really liking your positive attitude about everything. I can't say that I'd have the same outlook to be honest with you.

That would be great if you could come up anyway. All the benefits of the race weekend without any of that silly running! I know we would all love to see you.

Chester - WTG on the 5 lbs. I'm still super hungry and eating (or wanting to eat) like a madman most of the time. Luckily, I seem to be staying about even, weight-wise.

Jodi - I'm more of a rental care kind of guy but one option (that I really have no actual knowledge of) might be a shuttle from BWI to National. There is a Metro stop at National. I'm not sure if your hotel near a Metro stop or how much luggage you'd have to schlep around. Same issues would apply to the MARC rail.

I'm even more of a minimalist than Sara. Shoes, socks, shorts, shirt, race bib, Garmin. That's it. I may have to bite the bullet and wear a small little pack for a cell phone since DW and DD11 are coming to cheer and it may make it easier finding them at the end.

Sara - Good job on the run. Lucky you on trip to Orlando. Hope you can sneak away. What's your plan for fun going solo? I'd probably just head over to Epcot and eat myself into oblivion!

Dave - Still on the road?

I got 8.5 miles in this morning. It was so cool outside that I wore a long-sleeve shirt. Not to complain, but there was also a 20 mph wind. I forgot about the joys of wind .

Oh, and I also got the new Garmin all squared away. Not only does it beep and record at every mile, it also displays that mile's pace in a small window in the middle for a few seconds. I didn't do anything different programming it but our other 2 never did that. Does anyone elses do that?

Yes, I am trying to be positive, afterall that is the first principle in the healing power of Chi.:rotfl:Seriously, Jodi, I am going to read the book. I am sure it will help me.

I went on the DC metro website today & it all looks pretty straightforward getting around. We'll have a rental car 'cause we're flying into Baltimore, but now I'm wondering if that was the right thing to do. Apparently you can take a shuttle to the metro & get to DC pretty easily:confused3 Mike, maybe you can help out in this decision? Is anyone going to go sightseeing on Sat? I think we'll be hitting the Smithsonian & Native American Museum. Oh wait, Mike & Sara are running with the kiddies on Sat., almost forgot.
Hey Guys, I'm still in DC. Jodi, I did this just on Tuesday. I flew into BWI. Got the free shuttle to the MARC station, paid $6 for the MARC train to Union Station, transferred to the Metro and made it to my hotel. It took me about an hour to get in from BWI to DC, but it was cheap and easy. The MARC train was a really nice ride. Union Station is beautiful.

OK, I gotta finish watching Survivor.

Dave - Wow, that sounds pretty do-able & cheap, which I am:goodvibes . However, I'm a control freak:confused3 , I'm not sure how I would do waiting for trains, dragging luggage & my husband around:lmao: , and stressing about getting to the expo, etc. I'll have to think on this one:confused: What are you running Sat.? Has it cooled down in DC yet? Have the hills flattened?:yay:

Mike - Thanks for your input, too. My Garmin has always given me my splits on a little display, I think it's a selection you make somewhere on the menu. Do you have a real nice, small Garmin? Mine's the giant original one:rotfl: , thing weighs like 20 lbs. What'd you decide to run this weekend?

Sara - Any exercise yesterday?

Colleen - How's it goin'?

Chester - What's on tap for you this weekend?

Jodi - Go for the rental car if you're worried about it. I have all of the MARC info if you want it but I agree that the luggage in tow is beat for public transportation. Maybe if you were staying in DC but Rosslyn is another gig.

Mike - I have been known to sneak in solo trips to WDW if I am there on business and I usually favor Wishes or Illuminations. Nice job on the 8.5:cheer2: My Garmin has the split display on it also.

Dave - When are you leaving DC? You've gotta be race psyched at this point seeing all of the banners and such.

Colleen - :wizard: I hope you're doing well! Just think how much nicer it would be to drive home from DC after NOT having ran 26.2 miles:thumbsup2 .

Yoga for me this morning. I am going to try to attempt 10 outside in the a.m. However, I will play it by ear and take whatever I can get.

Happy taper LR's to all this weekend:cheer2: !!

Why didn't you guys tell me the Smithsonian was a whole bunch of museums, not just one, :goodvibes now I feel like a big tool:banana: . That's ok, I'm used to it. The Air & Space Museum is housing all the exhibitions from the American History Museum since that is closed for renovations. That's all the cool Americana stuff I want to see:woohoo: , you know, like Dorothy's Ruby Slippers! Oh, & we have to check out DC's version of Chinatownpopcorn:: . Earl is being so sweet! It's nice & cool today & should be around 40 tomorrow when I go for my 10 miler:dance3: . OK, I gotta work.

BTW, anyone know anyone in the NYC area who's into Broadway stuff & might want to go see Brian Stokes Mitchell @ Carnegie Hall on Mon. night? And if you don't know who he is you're not a Broadway fenbot like me:rolleyes: .

Mike
My Garmin temporarily shows the 1 mile split time also. They probably installed the most current version of software in the new one. I love the Auto-lap feature and have it set for 1 mile.

Jodi
I've got 4 miles at pace on tap for tomorrow and 12 miles on Sunday. I also have to work in the concession stand at the Bucs game again. The things I've got to do to raise money for DD15's soccer team....

Wednesday evening at 11:00pm while on a 6 mile run, I was approached by the Security Patrol from the adjacent neighborhood and informed that they have been spotting Florida Panthers along a dark stretch of road that I was getting ready to run on. No wonder I've been seeing the deer about 2 miles North of that area instead of seeing them there that night. I made sure to keep my eyes open instead of daydreaming while I ran.

Last night I did see 2 tan shapes running away from me on the other side of a hedge. After they cleared the hedge I could see that they were small deer and not the panthers:scared1:.

I guess that I need to start running in a loincloth with a buck knife strapped to my hip.

Train well this weekend.

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Chester, you had me rollin'! But seriously, be careful, we've all heard those stories b4, maybe carry pepper spray? Be careful & stop running so late. Have fun @ the Bucs game & good luck w/ the 12 miler!

Oh, I've had a couple busy days.
As for training, yesterday I did a strength training all over workout class, followed by about 20 minutes of swogging.

Today, hear ye, hear ye, I woke up this morning at 5:30 for a 6:00 a.m. yoga class. It was pretty good. I will try and go at least twice a week from now on.

Sorry, gotta run and pick up the kidlings from school, will write more later.

Colleen - WTG on that yoga:banana: . I tried it once or twice & loved it, but I tightened up too much & chickened out from doing anymore. Apparently I'm the only one that yoga doesn't "work" on, I'm such a goober.

Hockey players out in the dark?!?! That is scary! You don't want to get hip-checked into the bushes!

Just be sure to get a moisture wicking loincloth. Or go heavy duty on the Body Glide. I shudder to think about the resulting chaffing that could occur :scared1: .

Jodi - Sorry for the lack of Smithsonian heads-up. Bad luck about the American History Museum. The Air and Space is nice but alway VERY popular. It must be even more so with the American History stuff packed in there.

I figured yoga would be right up your Chi alley. I thought it was mandatory to do yoga if you ever had accupuncture ;) .

As for Brian Stokes Mitchell, I'm a little wary of a man with 2 last names.:)

Colleen - Good job on the yoga! Have you figured out your sales pitch to DH for the trip up yet?

Sara - Good luck on the 10. Just take it easy if you need to.

Friday was a rest day. I've got 12 on tap for Sat AM after work. Good luck to everyone else on the weekend runs.

Hey all, just a quick hit & run. Ran 10 today, beautiful weather so I didn't have to get up @ the buttcrack of dawn. Got it done, felt pretty good w/ no negative side effects...yet. Oh, did I mention I blew off my CT yesterday:rolleyes1 . Taper means lazy:sad2:

Let's hear some LR reports people!!:cheer2:
