:rotfl: Sara already has her signature changed, so I guess I will change the thread title!:lmao:

OMG, waste no time!:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: . Sara's got all her ducks in a row, I'll have to try & figure out this computer stuff so I can update my signature:confused3 .

Tracy has already decided that she will not be ready for the 08 WDW full. So, she is rethinking her training strategy and has decided to start with a distance shorter than 26.2. With that in mind, she is going to start training for the Minnie.

Somehow I doubt that they will let me set up camp in the Villas parkinig lot. Tracy can crash with you girls and I'll sleep with the dogs in the motorhome.

I'm off to a slow start for jumping into Goofy training. I worked late Tuesday night and postponed the 4 miles until Wednesday am on the treadmill at the gym. Last night DD had a HS soccer game, so I missed the 5 miles. I'll try to pick them up late tonight and do Todays 4 miles at the gym in the morning. The weekend runs are still on track.

Chester-Caveman - Yeh, you're prolly right:lmao: . You stay w/ the dogs, then...I think Tracy will really enjoy the Minnie - a great distance for a first one out! Tell her to start training NOW:woohoo:

OH DAAAAVE - There seems to be a bib# that isn't being used for the Marathon in Jan:rolleyes1 ! Contact Chester ASAP!! Just tell DW you're coming down to do research for your Minnie endeavor!;)

OK, so when does the registration for the Philly marathon open? I suppose I should wait until this years' event has taken place:rotfl:

I've got big probs here. I ran Tues., power walked w/ DS for 40 mins. last night & am supposed to run this afternoon...but I just DO NOT feel like going out there today. I just wanna go home, eat like a pig & take a nap:cloud9: :confused3

Oh you guys are killin' me. Even though I would love, love, love to go and get that special Mickey medal - I think DW would kill me. We agreed to one marathon/year (I convinced her that last January's Disney counted as 2006's marathon), and I think she would kill me if I started gearing up for 20 mile training runs again.

Amy- I meant to say hello :wave2: when I posted before. It's great to see you posting over here. How did the Disney Marathon end up for you last year anyhow? I don't think I ever heard.

Hey, do any of you guys mind if I post my trip report with pictures over on the podcast board?

I heard them mention that today - no, I've no problem w/ that. We'll have to make sure you'll get some more good shots in Jan.:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Cindy - Get your sister on the boards...less of a chance she'll bail on you:lmao: . But at this point, do you really need someone to come with you? . Seems as if most of us will be, unattached, shall we say, for the weekend. How's hubby's leg??

Gotta get the sister to come. The whole getting sis healthy and to exercise was part of getting DH to think this was a good idea instead of him just thinking I was ditching him to go to WDW.

Still no running for DH. Leg is still really hurting him when he has to start moving again after sitting for awhile and he still won't do anything about it.

[

Cindy - There's room for you & the sis, after all, villas are BIG!

We gotta stay where ever Dave picks for his adventure travel!

So, I went home, walked a quick mile w/ DS & dog & proceeded to make salad & nachos & refried bean for dinner:confused: . UGH:laughing: . NO, I didn't run...

Mike[/B] - Can Kathy come play in the villa with us?
You'll have to ask Kathy. She's going down with a non-WISHer but I don't think they've firmed up any plans yet. Dave's not staying with you, is he?

Wouldn't you know it. My work has put the internet road block up on YouTube. How do they expect us to get any work done around here?!

Jodi and Chester - No training? No problem! What is it, a 7 hour limit? I'm thinking that we'll all be plenty able to shuffle in under that time.

My big concern is making sure I have enough time to either a.) Get a big beer in Germany b.) Get a frozen marguirita in Mexico c.) Do some damage to a Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream if I can convince a someone to bring one out d.) All of the above plus a finish line hurl! :rotfl:

Dave - Alright, here's what you do. Arrange for cool aunt to come watch the girls. Book a room at a value. Snag a cheap SW flight. Skip the 20 milers (see above about 7 hour time limit), do a few 12-16's. Sweet talk DW just a little. Botta-bing, you're in!

Still no running for DH. Leg is still really hurting him when he has to start moving again after sitting for awhile and he still won't do anything about it.
Cindy - Remember, he's a man. We are, by nature invincible (or at least quick self-healers in extreme cases). Just wait until his injury prohibits him from doing something really important like getting a beer from the fridge or fulfilling his husbandly duties  . That'll get him to the doctor soon enough!

So, I went home, walked a quick mile w/ DS & dog & proceeded to make salad & nachos & refried bean for dinner:confused: . UGH:laughing: . NO, I didn't run...
Jodi - Planning on running today? Refried beans? With your history? Gutsy choice!

Sara - How's the leg? You're not overdoing it are you? I didn't actually look at the date for the Army 10 miler. Undecided about when to go down to WDW next October, either RFTT or ToT (Yes, Jodi. You've already weighed in with your opinion). Possible conflict if we choose RFTT. Our anniversary is the 6th and a trip south then would be nice.

Have you all been checking out the big thread? Cam and Howard are going to Philly this year to scream-team and Lou is running the full. I've kindly requested feedback about the race.

Oh yeah, I ran 5 last night. It's kinda chilly around here.

I'd scheduled 6 for today but I think I've just convinced myself that I'll be fine just to take a rest day. Add the fact that Kathy said I've been darn cranky for a while now and maybe I'm showing signs of overtraining. Who knew?

That Rocky YouTube video just got me SOOO fired up. Although the scenery has changed a lot since 1976, Rocky's run is right along the current Philly course.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a bit scared about this marathon on 11/18. 1) My longest run is 20 miles 2) this is my first marathon and 3) my knee scares me.

However, I know as I approach next weekend I am going to get so completely fired up that I'll find a way to run those 26.2 miles.

Lou - Welcome!!:welcome: To be honest, you'd be out of your gourd if you weren't at least a lot nervous. That said, relax! Take it easy and just try to get to the starting line healthy.

Lou,

As I just ran my first marathon 2 weeks ago, I'm very familiar with that feeling (I had only done one 20 mile run 4 weeks before the race). The advice that I was given, that I will pass on to you, is to remember that you've already done the training, which is the hard part, and now you get to enjoy the race as your reward. (Not sure I actually believed that while I was running the MCM, but I think it was a good motivator).

Best of luck and I look forward to hearing about the race!

Lou - Hey, at least you've trained for your first marathon...The furthest I'd ever ran b4 my first was 13.1:laughing: . You'll be fine, like Mike said, just get there healthy! Good luck & let us know how you make out!!

Mike - I had to wake up extra early this am b4 I ran b/c...well...you know why...refried beans:confused3 ;) ! Anyhow, I didn't run yesterday, but I got in almost 6 this am. Little chilly here, too. I'm going by time mostly 'cause I haven't taken my Garmin along since the marathon. Did I mention that it said I ran 27.2 miles @ MCM:lmao: , what a piece of poop! Glad you & Kathy have made your minds up to run TOT!:rolleyes1 . Stop running so much b4 Kathy hides your sneakers!:lmao: I was wishing I could drink an Optimator after the full in Jan., but I've got a plane to catch :car: - it better not take me 7 hours to finish:scared1: .

Sara - Oh yeh, how is your leg anyway? Everytime I smell BenGay now it brings back memories of that chilly morning waiting for MCM to start & your stinky leg:rotfl2:

Colleen - Are you gone yet?

Chester - What's your strategy for avoiding blisters in the GOOFY? I think I asked you this b4, but I need help:eek: .

Dave - SEE MIKE'S PLAN for you running the full w/ us! Better yet, just have your wife call me, I can be very convincing:flower3: .

Cindy - How has your running been going?

[Colleen - Are you gone yet?

Nope, just closing up the last suitcases. The kids went to school this morning for a half day, I am picking them up at 11:30 for out 2:12 flight!

Be good!

Good luck Lou! Can't wait to hear about it!

Have a GREAT trip Colleen! Enjoy the fun of a spontaneous trip, and go with the flow! Our girls, DD9 princess: and DD6 pooh:, have a 1/2 day today too, and are off school on Monday. I WISH we were going to WDW!

Jodi
I didn't have any blister problems for MCM, and that was running in a pair of new shoes right out of the box. I did liberally apply body glide to the bottom and toes of my feet and carried a fresh pair of socks and some "second skin" blister bandaids just in case. I think I'll do the same for Goofy. I also might give the Injinji "toe glove" style socks a try.

I'm trying to convince Tracy to start training by setting a schedule and getting some short walks in now, so that they become a habit. Once she has a routine going, then she can add time and distance.

Colleen
Enjoy your trip. You get to WDW more the we do, and we are practically locals. Our next trip over is for Mickery's Very Merry Christmas Party on December 21st.

Lou
Good luck on the 18th with your first marathon. Be prepared experience every emotion possible. There was nothing like the emotional roller coaster that I went through during my first.

Pay close attention to not injuring your knee. There's nothing wrong with backing off your pace to make sure that you finish without injury. Besides, whatever your time is it will be a PR. Don't worry about improving your time until the 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

Mike
I think my strategy will be to continue training by heart rate. But this time, for the race I will stick to my plan and run at planned rate or lower, not above. I ran MCM at 1/2M rate and the first half was easy. The third quarter of MCM was rough, but I finally settled in for the final quarter and finished without too much pain or exertion.

Sara
I hope all is going well with the treatment of the stress fractures.

Dave
I don't object to posting the MCM trip report on the podcast board. I think it's a good idea.

Well, I didn't get my 4 miles in last night either. As I got home late last night, the mosquito fogging truck was driving down the street and the air was so still that the clouds lingered for almost an hour and I didn't want to run at 11pm. I'm going to run 5 after I get home today and before DD's HS football game starts. I gotta go watch DD Bang her drums in Marching Band.

A good weekekend to all,

Chester

Psssst! :ssst: Sneaking on to your thread. I have enjoyed your Marine Corps Marathon thread; I try and try to stay current with the "big thread" but find it difficult to keep up. :scared:

I was the one who ran the Marine Corps Marathon (my only one) in 1991 and related my story of the Marines with their hands covered in either Vaseline or Icy Hot for the runners.

Anywhooo :rolleyes1, I'm training for the Goofy Challenge; I know some of you are as well. OK if I check in here now and then?

Your recent (tentative) plan for the 2008 Philly Marathon has me intrigued! I've already surfed the site and the race is rattling around in my head. Philadelphia is almost driving distance for me (if you consider 7 hours driveable ;) )

Happy training all!
