~Philadelphia Marathon 11/23/08~

Hey, I just thought of an idea. Whatever Marathon we decide on for next year, Colleen can change the title of the thread and we can just keep it going...

So Chester, when are you planning on running Honolulu? Is that 2008 or 2009? I'd love to do that one too, but it calls for major saving...

The date for the 2008 Philadelphia Marathon is November 23rd. I inquired today via e-mail and they e-mailed me right back with a response. That works for me:thumbsup2 . I bet we could get Howard (Keenho) to run it since it's pretty much a local race for him. Terri is also in Philly and I know there are a few other WISH'ers in that area. It could be a really fun time:cheer2:

Maybe we could get Steve and Krista to come out too. Steve was looking for a fall marathon this year, and was going to do Columbus until he got hurt. Oh, I checked, and there is a half marathon too. I have to see if Dad wants to run that with us. Unfortunately, it starts as the same time as the full though.

Cindy - You're not crashing, it's your thread, too:grouphug: . Isn't the weather great?

Thanks Jodi. I must say, I am loving the weather. The wind I could do without, but after all the hot summer running I won't complain (at least not for a few more months):rotfl:

My future race plans include the National Half at the end of March, the Minnie with my sister, followed by San Diego Rock n' Roll on June 1st. Not actually registered for that on yet, but my in-laws live in San Diego and DH has already told them that we are running and his mom is really excited, so I guess there is no backing out of that now. Also, DH (who, btw, still can't run after MCM) actually already created a training plan for us starting in January for the half in March and full in June. He's a bit crazy. It combines Runners World's Ryan Hall modified half marathon training plan with Hal Higdons marathon training for after the half. Again, he's crazy.

After San Diego I was planning on doing a late fall marathon and was actually thinking of either Richmond or Philly. Richmond is a bit smaller (about 5,000) but is billed as America's friendliest marathon. As for Philly, as stated in several posts above - its flat! :cool1:

However, the comments on marathonguide seem to suggest that there were several organizational problems with the Philly race last year and they lost their major sponsor (AmEx) this year, so I wanted to wait and see what people thought about this years race before deciding. But if you all want to run Philly, I'd love to join you!:) I think it would be a lot of fun!

I actually also was considering Vegas. I love Vegas. Again, with that one, there have been a large number of complaints over the past 2 years (probably more so than any marathon I've read about) so I wanted to see what people thought of this year's race.

Doing Vegas would probably mean no Goofy in '09 but I think I might be ok with that. Maybe I'll wait until the 20th anniversary when they'll probably come up with another super secret medal.

Colleen - I read somewhere on the boards that the Minnie didn't fill up last year (but that it did its first year).

Ok, must get back to work and stop planning my running for the next several years.

Dave - That's ok, dad could line up w/ us, run w/ us, then just split off & go the half way!! SWEET! Yes, Colleen needs to change the name of the thread NOW, I think:woohoo:

Sara - Nov 23rd soooo works, the Sunday b4 Thanksgiving, right? So it was YOU who got that Hampton Inn:thumbsup2 NICE. All right, you're on hotel duty. I'm sure your travels will bring you down that way between now & the marathon...you need to personally inspect all potential sites:rotfl: !

Colleen - Fix that knee, woman. And yes, that is the itinerary...
Minnie (i don't think it filled last year)
ToTer ('cause the medal is toooo cool & I want to go to MNSSHP)
Philly (City of Brotherly Love with WISHERS:grouphug:
Start working on the respective spouses now, people:lmao:

Chester - Can you get to Philly?

Mike - You're in, even though you don't know it

Cindy - You gotta come, too! This way we can finally meet.

Ok, guys, stop posting! I need to work!!!:sad2:

Jodi- I owe you a long reply, but I can't do it now. So if Sara picks the hotel, you pick the port-a-potty line. Finally you and Cindy can meet at the Minnie, right? ;) I'm still waiting to hear from Disney for my concierge service. Although I have a promising lead at the Hilton in Downtown Disney. Cindy- the Downtown Disney Hilton does let you do the EMH at the parks, and it's pretty posh and splurge-worthy.

Dave - Ooooh, Downtown Disney Hilton?? I may be interested, too for Minnie. Gotta save those DVC points, ya know! If I have any left:confused3 . Oh yeh, I can meet Cindy @ Minnie. Looks like we'll have a reunion there, too. Me, you, Colleen, Sara, Cindy, Chester & Mike. Oh, did Mike & Chester not know they were going?:rotfl2:

Stop POSTING!!!!! I gotta work!!! I swear I will turn this webpage off right now. Don't make me come back there! I'll do it.

Jodi
I might give Minnie a shot. I have reservations at FW for that weekend. With everyone else going, how can I miss it?

ToT 2008 is just a day trip for me.

Philly November 23. Count me in.

Dave
Honolulu Marathon will be December 13, 2009. Let's all plan on this one. There is plenty of time to begin saving.

Man, the MCM thread is alive and well. A lot of action today. I can't keep up.

I still plan on running WDW every year, but I really am interested in running a couple in other states every year. I'll meet up and follow this group anywhere.

DD18 did a little work on my avatar in case you didn't notice.

Happy race planning to all,

Chester

Chester - HOLY COW that avatar ROCKS!!!:lmao: :rotfl: . Oh my, I'm laughing out loud big time, wait 'til I show Bruce. GREAT! You're in for Philly & Minnie & TOT! Honolulu? Man, can I afford that? I really will have to start saving now!! This time @ Philly, though, you'll have to stay @ the same hotel, kay?

STOP POSTING

:rotfl: OMG, too funny, we are all so much alike, having strategically placed hotel reservations for various running events!

Dave, I have never stayed in the downtown Disney hotels before. I guess we will wait and see what transpires with that.

I think once we choose another marathon we can just start a new thread.

Colleen - I can't believe you're going to the WORLD in 2 days!:yay: :dance3: , the kids must be ecstatic! WTG on devising a spreadsheet for your training/stretching/pt ing. I can't even balance my checkbook!:rotfl2:

Minnie is way cool, you gotta go!

:tiptoe: Sneaking into this thread. Hi everyone ...

OK...totally crashing your party here. I've kept up with your thread (lurker extraordinaire) since you began it. I love reading about everyone's training leading up to MCM. Plus my SIL ran it so I had a vested interest ;). I ran the San Jose half a few weeks before you guys headed to DC....GREAT race btw. I love the Rock & Roll series races (ran Nashville in April as well).

Anyway...I love that many of you are training for :goofy:. And I can't really keep up with the swift moving events thread. So I try to see what's shakin' over here in terms of training. I do lurk over there...but I have to say it's tough to keep up. I feel slightly out o' the loop. I'm keeping an eye on the races you guys are looking at, as my training buddy and I are trying to figure out next year. Any chance you guys are considering DL??? We may also think about Arizona in Jan. Philly is also on the radar for us.

OK...sorry to hijack. But if you guys do end up turning this into a Goofy training thread I may post here from time to time :). Please excuse my intrusion LOL!

 Hi Dave!!!! Nice to "see" you! I know you had a very difficult fall and I thought of you often as you went through such a tough time! ((HUGS))

You all did amazing at MCM...what an incredible race. Someday maybe ;).

:Any chance you guys are considering DL??? We may also think about Arizona in Jan.

Hi Amy, sorry, do you mean Disneyland Half marathon for DL?:confused3

I would be interested in Arizona in January as well. The further out I can push the marathon the cooler weather I have to train and the longer I have to rehab this knee.

BTW, isn't Philly the murder capital of the US?:stir: popcorn:: :bored:

Really? I should fit right in there, as I "kill" the positive vibe @ all events:lmao: ! Is the Minnie medal a Minnie head now or something? I did the first one & it wasn't a MinnieHead:confused3 .

Dave - Aren't you supposed to be working?

Amy - Welcome! I wanna do DL bad, but I wish they'd change it from Labor Day...& it's so much $ for me to get there. popcorn:: I've also been eyeing PF Chang in AZ. Always wanted to try a RockNRoll Marathon, hmmmm. OMG, I hope my poor DH doesn't see this (good thing he doesn't know how to turn on a computer).

I am loving Chesters avatar.

So how do I take a photo from marathonfoto.com's site and use it for my avatar or signature?
