[ This is my last WDW so we'll have to do the Utica Boilermaker or the Wineglass Marathon together for sure some day:woohoo: .

Dave and Sara, Wineglass Marathon  DH works for Corning, Inc. and goes up to Corning a gazillion times a year! Sign me up for that one, I am sure DH can schedule business around the trip. He also knows a ton of people up there. One of his good friends has a cabin at Finger Lakes (?), I think, anyway, I will be there, even if I am still walking!

BTW, this is my last Disney marathon as well. DH would kill me if I went for #4.

Jodi, I am suppose to get 8 miles in this weekend, but since we will be at Disney, I will just play it by ear. We are at the Beach Club so I will be able to walk around the Boardwalk if I choose. Yes, keep me in mind if you want to rent some DVC points. Our last trip using our AP's will be in June for Star Wars weekend, we have never been and DS10 is a fan.

Happy Birthday to Kathy!

Chester, wow, another nice week of running! I didn't skip a beat.

I have a student coming this morning but after lunch I will try and walk 60 minutes and then do a little cycling.

Sara and Colleen- I've heard the Wineglass Marathon is beautiful. Maybe that's the next one for me. It would be fun to run with both of you. It's late October next year.

I will definitely put that one on my calendar for next fall. I was considering either the Baltimore Marathon or the Philadelphia Marathon for that time period but would most certainly opt for the Wineglass if we could make it work:grouphug: . I will check into it :cheer2: .

Wineglass

Bad - late September, which means training through the summer again.:scared:

Good - entry only $55:thumbsup2

Bad -Need to finish in 6 hours. Not sure if I could do it if I have to walk, maybe I could walk/run?.

Good - DH knows all the best restaurants and hotels.:thumbsup2

Bad - Still have my deferred MCM entry.

Good - Can transfer my MCM if I choose.:thumbsup2

Enough, must go walk.:sad2:

Mike
Please express birthday wishes to Kathy from Tracy and I.

The Half I'm planning will be the Florida Gulf Beaches Holiday Halfathon on December 9th.

Jodi
Actually, Tracy is signed up to do the Full. She had better start her training soon. DS 18 is doing the Goofy with me. He thinks he'll try to qualify for Boston during the Full. :lmao:

Dave
Training for a marathon and keeping the rest of the family happy just takes creative time management and sleep deprivation. It's a lot easier for me now that DD is in College and DS is able to drive. But, weekend LR's do interfere with family time. Maybe Tracy will give up her bib for the full if you can make it in January.

Sara
Goofy, Psuedo Goofy or the Full, I hope to stay in contact. And I'm always looking for the next Marathon. I do need to start hitting some out of state if I ever expect to do one in each state plus DC. The Wineglass Marathon works.

Colleen
Walk on.

Happy training,

Chester

Hey Everyone: OK, I just got back from a 3 mile run on the TM. I was in a very reflective mode during my run. I was thinking that I really owe this group a lot. You've helped (and have continue to help) me get through a really rough dark time. This Fall has absolutely stunk, among other things I still feel very uneasy/unsettled about my job. You guys know more about what has been going on in my life this fall than most other people. The Marine Corps Marathon was really a highlight of my Fall, and during those last 10 mile when I was running by myself I kept telling myself that if I can get through a marathon I can get through anything. Right now it's difficult to see the finish line, but I just have to keep plugging along. Thanks so much for all your support and friendship.

Dave - Hang in there, buddy! MCM was a definite highlight of my fall & I'm feeling rather funky these last few days. Call it post marathon blues or whatever, but MCM was hands down, the best marathon experience, heck, best race excperience (except for riding the monorail w/ my mom to the 1/2 start in '06) ever! And it was all 'cause of you guys. And Dave, I never thought I could actually run "with" someone, but b/c of you, I know it's possible:hug: Thanks! Now I didin't say it was gonna be fun for the other person, but...:confused3

popcorn:: OK, so what's this Wineglass marathon all about & how do I sign up?:cool1: :rotfl2: Where is it? The only one we've gotta convince to go is Mike - and Cindy, of course!

If this is ya'll's last Disney marathon I guess it's time to move on as well. I was also looking @ the Philadelphia Marathon (or their 1/2), both in the fall, I think. I also saw something about a Buffalo, NY marathon??

Chester - :lmao: about your DS qualifying for Boston on the 2nd part of the GOOFY...I think. Ya know, if he DOES qualify, he's going to get a beating from yours truly:rotfl2: . Better yet, I'll sick Sara on him! That's cool you guys are staying @ Ft. Wilderness...we stayed in one of those cabins for a night back in Dec. & it was way cool! And yes, Tracy better get training, STAT!

Colleen - :hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :rotfl2:

Sara - Is there a marathon on the circuit that you're NOT running this year??? Sheesh:rotfl2: Flying Pig, Philly, Baltimore, Winemug, Disney...How many times did you run today??;)

Mike - Are you & Kathy coming to the Winecup?

OK, I ran 5.5 or 6 miles today, and it felt pretty good, I suppose. The weather's nice & cool, finally. Still haven't come up w/ a GOOFY plan:rolleyes1 . Everyone's sched. that I check out looks way too hard w/ way too much running:sad2: . Oh well!

Dave - Glad we could be there for you in your time of need. Funny though, you strike me as about the most positive person I can think of.

Chester - Dec 9 is great timing for a half. I WISH there was something convenient around here at that time.

Colleen - Are your yoga classes still giving free messages, continental breakfasts, trips to Spain, and the like?

Sara - I saw the picture of the girls. A-damn-dorable!

Jodi - Geeze, I have to go to work again tonight. 2 nights in a row. I think I need a vacation! I know nothing of the Fermented Grape Goblet marathon. We're shooting for one of the Disney races next October and then I'd rather do a later fall marathon (Philly, Richmond?) to get some quality training in the cooler weather. The idea of a big group reunion is tempting though.

I kind of ran out of time and more importantly, motivation for today so it's a rest day. I'll do something tomorrow. Probably 8 miles in the AM if it works with everyone's schedule.

See ya!

:rotfl:

I'm with Mike on this one. I really don't want to train in the heat of the summer again. Winemug is the first week in October. I was even thinking a December or January marathon, something nice and flat.

Spoke to DH about the Femented Grape Goblet Cup :drinking1 and he said it is very small, maybe 300-400 runners and it is a point to point marathon, mostly flat, but quite uneventful. You actually run beside an interstate for a lot of the race so there may be a fan every 4-5 miles.

If my PT doesn't go well this winter, I may consider getting my knee scoped, so I will need as much recovery time as possible. That being said, y'all (like my southern;) ) can do a fall marathon, I'll come and cheer :cheer2: and then run in the next one planned.:rolleyes1

I have to agree, the Wineglass marathon is definitely a very small one and point to point. Maybe not the best one for a meet up. Is anyone interested in Chicago? Colleen- I know you ran that one already, but it's on my list to run. I've heard Philly is a good race. I'm going to check out Marathon Guide to see what else is out there. Just doing a quick look at the Marathon Guide Map - there's Twin Cities October 5, Chicago October 7, Philadelphia November, Las Vegas early December, Rock n' Roll Arizona January, Charlotte's Thunder Road Marathon December... just some ideas.

Mike- Thanks for saying I seem like a positive person. I take that as a real compliment coming from you - who also seem like such a positive person.

Chester- Don't you tempt me with Tracy's bib now. DW would kill me if I bring up running at Disney again. Thanks for thinking of me though. That's really very thoughtful of you.

Sara- Hope your leg is feeling better. Take it easy now.

Hi Jodi :wave2:

Dave - So glad to have been a part of the bright spot in your fall season. We're ALWAYS here for you:grouphug: !! I would love to all do Philly together:cheer2: :woohoo: . That would be a perfect time of year and I've been looking at that one for a while. It looks like we could get all of our MCM friends on board with that one as well:thumbsup2 . Stay strong and baby steps will get you through this.

Jodi - You know why I have to run so much...:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: Actually, I am not really committed to the Pig unless the leg resolves so I may opt for the Minnie with y'all in May and then just do Philly in November. The Winemug might interfere with the Army 10-miler anyway:rolleyes1 I only ran once yesterday and not at all today:) I say just wing it for Goofy!

Mike - Good luck with the 8 miles this morning:cheer2:.

Chester - Could you work the Philadelphia Marathon into your schedule?

Nada for me this morning since I was up basically every hour last night:mad: I will get some miles in this evening somehow or at least yoga.

Happy training to all:cheer2:

Good morning everyone,

Sorry, I'm crashing your thread again. I just wanted to say hi and see what everyone has been up to. I ran my third post-marathon run (wonder when I'll stop counting them) this morning in the 37 degree wind chill. I can't believe it was only 2 weeks ago that I was doing my final taper run and it was 70 degrees!

OK, this has got to stop...I really need to work @ some point!!:surfweb:

Dave - Have you looked into that teaching spot your friend told you about @ the different school? How's your Minnie concierge service coming along?

Colleen - Philadelphia marathon is the end of Nov:rolleyes1 ...that'd give you plenty of time for scoping if you so choose.

Chester & Cindy - What are you doing the end of Nov. next year?:rolleyes1

Mike - The City of Brotherly Love, right?? You could take another 3 weeks off from work & run that one!

Sara - OK, this is what you're going to do...skip Flying Pig, go to the Minnie, do the Army 10 miler:rolleyes1 , then run Philly:rotfl: . Aren't you glad I'm here to plan for you? OK, I'll bite. Why were you up every hour last night?

Cindy - You're not crashing, it's your thread, too:grouphug: . Isn't the weather great?

So here's the deal:woohoo: We'll skip the Winebucket (Although I love the idea of a point to point run, I need to run with the masses:rotfl: ) cause no one wants to train in the heat again. We'll run the Minnie, Tower of Terror in Oct. & Philly in Nove:laughing: Is everyone clear on that?:upsidedow ...OK. I'll start working on the hotel ressies for Philly, I'll be taking credit card numbers starting tomorrow:rotfl2: .

As far as training goes...I guess I'll go to the gym & wander around aimlessly for 45 mins. or so:cool1:

Colleen - Philadelphia marathon is the end of Nov:rolleyes1 ...that'd give you plenty of time for scoping if you so choose.

Yip! Looks like a good one for me. Middle of November is good timing. Looky look what I found for elevation description...The course is fast and flat, with the highest elevation level at 100 feet.

My patella is thanking me already.:worship:

OK, let's do some research to find a good hotel. I am sure it won't be cheap, so we have to make sure it is good. I think I paid $250 a night in Chicago and had to pay one night's deposit.:sad2:

As for the others... Chicago is fast and flat too. It was a great race, loved running through all the ethnic neighborhoods. My sister has ran Vegas twice, I could ask her about that one. Charlotte is a tough course, lots of hills. I think Christa is running that one.

Finally had my appt with a PT this morning. He was really good, gave me a lot to work on. I am busy making a spreadsheet of the stretches and strengthening exercises so I am SURE I do them everyday.

Yeah, but who wants to risk another HOT Chicago...End of Nov. in Philly is almost guaranteed chilly:santa:

100 foot elevation???:cool1: :woohoo: Even I can deal w/ that!

Hotel HAS to be nice...the Hampton Inn for MCM was great, Colleen. Perhaps we should leave hotel research to you? The hotel I picked for the VT marathon I did in May had boogers on the wall:rotfl: . No really, it did:eek: . We were sched. to stay another night 'cause it was Memorial Day wknd, but left right after the marathon & made the 3.5 hour car ride home...luckily they gave us our "leave early" penalty of $85 back...of course I had to make several, uh, angry phone calls b4 that happened:rolleyes1 .

The Hampton Inn opened their b'fast an hour early for us runners...& while the food wasn't anything crazy it was fresh w/ a great variety. In VT they put a bagel & juice in SaranWrap & charged runners $5 for this crappy "b'fast on the go"

I just happen to be having dinner on Monday in Baltimore with a real close friend of mine who has lived in Philly his whole life. I will ask him for the best bet for hotel options. You're not going to accuse me of having ulterior motives for wanting to run this brotherly love race now, are you Jodi:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: .

Colleen - Great news on the PT and that you're being so diligent with the stretching and such:wizard: . When are you off to WDWpopcorn:: ?

Oh, & make sure the hotel is near the finish line as I'm sure I'll have to catch a flight out around 2pm or something. Actually, we should try & plan it so everyone hangs out that last night so we can "party". If "party" means one beer, that is.

Jodi - I will print out the course map before I leave so I can speak intelligently as to where we need the hotel to be. I think we'll have those short SW flights again so hopefully we can hang out race night and celebrate with a beer. No running from the finish line to the airport:rolleyes1 !!

Jumping on quick as I scarf my lunch down before heading to the lab...

I had a good friend run Philly last year. I'll get his opinion of it too. That one may be close enough for my Dad to come along again too. Oooh, I wonder if it has a half marathon? Maybe Dad can shoot for that half marathon. Now I gotta look...

Jodi, it was Sara who picked the DC hotel, I was just a tag-a-long. Sara has the Midas touch for picking hotels, let her talk to her Philly friend and see what comes up.

We are off the WDW Friday afternoon, the kids and I are flying back late Tuesday afternoon but DH will stay on until the end of the conference next Thursday.

OK, so let's get this straight.

Minnie (to complete the collection, even DH thinks I should do this one)
maybe ToT (the medals looked REALLY cool)
Philly

Did Minnie registration close early last year?
