Congratulations everyone!!! You guys did a great job :thumbsup2 . Was lurking here on your thread following everyones' training journey!!! My SIL ran the race and finished in 4:23 I think. I told her to look for the WISHers but I think she was very focused and said she didn't see any of the shirts. She loved the race...but she's still hurting (legs). Hope you are all feeling great today!!! :sunny:

Dave - WTG:thumbsup2 . I may run myself tomorrow. Thanks for the pictures, I'm going to download them today!!

Steve - See you in Jan!

How's everyone else feeling today? Ok, today I'm going to the big boards...really, I am...

Has anyone gone on marathonfoto yet? Looks like they're going to have a great day for NYC marathon Sun.:woohoo: Anyone on the boards here that you know of that's doing it?

Hey Everyone: How did your official photos turn out on marathonfoto? Mine are OK, I was bummed I didn't get one of me running with one of the monuments in the background. I also didn't get any photos with me running with my teammates. If people want to look at my photos here's my info to get on:

last name: Parfitt
bib number: 30477

Anyone else want to share their info so we (ok I) can peak at their photos?

Dave - HEY Buddy! My bib # is 16258 & Dougherty's the last name! There's a picture of you & I together on my photos! Check it out!:woohoo:

Dave - If you want to peak at mine, last name is beyea and bib is 1410. I've got lots with the arm from the Awakening.

Chester- nice avatar! and great MCM photos. You got a lot of really nice shots in your set.

Jodi- I like the picture of the two of us running together. I wonder why I didn't get that in my set.

Dave - Because they're buttheads! I miss our little thread over here, the BIG one has lots of cool peeps, but it still scares me:scared1:

I ran about 4.5 miles on Sat., felt great but a little tight in my R hamstring, so came home early & soaked.

Sun. ran about 3 & felt tired, but good to get out there.

Guess I'll start training for Goofy now:scared1:

Mike - I'm w/ you on the training thing, the less the better! . Bruce & I were wondering what your screen name, Optimator, meant & figured that there was no way it could mean what it meant to us (seriously good beer!). But alas, I now find that that is exactly what it means:woohoo: ! Bruce is a huge fan of that particular Optimator they servce in Germany @ EPCOT, as well. His dad was in the army & he lived in Germany until he was about 12. Then he came back to the states & got beat up daily 'cause he couldn't speak english:sad2: . But that's another story all together:lmao: Anywho, he agrees, the Optimators @ home just don't taste the same as the ones in EPCOT!

9 MILES Sat.? Jeez!

Hey Jodi!! - I can't see myself posting on the regular thread for a bit either so don't feel too bad!! Glad you got some running in over the weekend:woohoo: . Take it easy with the hamstring:wizard: .

Chester - Loving the avatar:lmao: !

Dave - I thought the pic of you and Jodi was great:thumbsup2 .

Mike - Tell Kathy without a doubt I am whacked:rotfl2: . The bone scan just showed a lot of soft tissue damage (since I ran a marathon 2 days prior that makes sense) and the slight stress fx on the outside of my right leg. It also showed heavy arthritis in my left knee but I've had numerous surgeries on that leg so it makes sense. I am listening to my body to dictate my "training" plan for WDW.

I really miss our little thread too and it seems like MCM was a long time ago. I've been getting my steps in along with lots of yoga. I am out of sorts and lacking direction right now. It doesn't help that Disney can't even get out race packets in October anymore:confused: .

:yay: Can we still post on our little-out-of-date-thread?

Sara - I feel lost, too. And you'r right, MCM seems ages ago.:confused3 I'm not setting any time constraints on myself for GOOFY, although I do have a flight @ 4:45 on Sun, so I better not take too long on that marathon thingie:rotfl2: Didn't realize you had all those probs w/ that 1 leg, sheesh. You're lucky to be running relatively pain free at all:woohoo: .

Colleen - Where are you and HOW are you?:guilty:

Dave -Run Minnie w/ me:mad: or I'll stomp my feet!

Chester - How're you feeling & what is your training plan for the GOOFY?

Mike - :hippie: Chi was NOT flowing yesterday...Found out after the fact that my Chi guy, Danny Dreyer, was speaking @ MCM?!! What a dunce I am...you'd think I would have "sensed" his presence?:lmao:

Jodi and Mike
Maybe we need to start a Goofy training thread.

I begin my Goofy training tomorrow night. I'm slipping into the 9th week of Hal Higdon's Intermediate plan. I'm have modified it by adjusting the Saturday runs to be half the distance of the Sunday long run. So, This week loks like this:

Tuesday 4 miles
Wednesday 5 miles
Thursday 4 miles
Saturday 5.5 miles
Sunday 11 miles

I'm planning to get in a couple of local races ranging from 5k to 1/2M also.

Sara and Jodi
I agree that I will get lost trying to keep up with the "weekly" thread. I really enjoyed having our own "little corner" of WISHdom.

Regarding the avatar: DS18 told Tracy that there was a caveman in the Smithsonian that looked just like Dad, so she took the picture. Personally, I don't see the resemblance, but the loincloth and club are appropriate gear when running in Panther territory.

Happy training,

Chester

Bruce is a huge fan of that particular Optimator they servce in Germany @ EPCOT, as well.

Guess who is going to have an Optimator this weekend at EPCOT??

DH has an International Wire and Cable Symposium at a little place down in Florida called Disney! Guess who gets to go?? This summer we spoke about taking the family down for the conference in November, but decided against it because it was to close to Thanksgiving. Well, I guess DH was feeling guilty about leaving the family again so soon after getting back from China and he actually offered! I just couldn't say no since this is the one and only year we bought annual passes.

Anyway, much to my dismay there is a little event down in Disney this weekend called Super Soap Weekend??!?? :confused3 People actually get fastpasses to get autographs from soap stars? :lmao: Needless to say, MGM will have to wait until next Monday.

Jodi and Sara, I really needed to take a good three weeks off after Chicago last year before I started back up for Goofy. It won't take long and you both will be back on the saddle.

Chester, your avatar is exactly how I pictured you!;)

As for training, I walked 14 miles on Saturday, felt strong the whole way, averaged about a 14:47 mile. Sunday was a rest day, this morning I got in 40 minutes on the elliptical before my yoga class. I am finally going to my PT appointment Wednesday, we will see how that goes.

Sara, glad to hear your bone scan didn't show anything scary.

Colleen - How nice of you to pop your head in here to share that you're off to WDWpopcorn:: !!! I hope you guys have a blast:woohoo: . Great job on the 14 miles:cheer2: . I hope the PT appt. goes well:wizard: .

Chester - If you get a Goofy thread going I'm going to have to be a crasher:rotfl: . Actually, DH is most likely going to bail on doing the 1/2 so I could realistically be doing a pseudo-Goofy if I use his bib for the 1/2 and mine for the full.

Jodi - DH told me that the Danny Dreyer was at the expo after the fact:headache: . What's this with Mike doing 9 miles?! I may do a 15K this weekend but I am still undecided at this time:rolleyes1 .

OK, has EVERYONE been to the World since this thread started except me?

Colleen - OK.....have fun, I guess:rotfl2: . That's awesome news, the kids must be soooo excited, WTG DAD! I can't believe that you walked 14 miles on Sat., wow, that's awesome. And what a pace. I swear, I can not walk fast at all. My mom, who's 72 & did the Disney 1/2 w/ me in '06, walks like, 100mph, it's nuts! Good luck @ the PT, woman. When are you leaving for Disney? Make sure you have an Optimator for me!! (then pick yourself up off the ground:lmao: ) Don't worry about the Super Soap bots (short for fenbots), they'll only be @ MGM.

Sara - popcorn:: A "fake" GOOFY??:woohoo: :yay: :dance3: . Like I'm NOT gonna let you do that now that you mentioned it! Come on, dude! I need your smiling face out there on the course w/ me:rotfl: ! Seriously, though, we could meet in the am b4 you start to run & this happens:mad: !

Chester - This thread could be our GOOFY training thread, right? Your kids are cruel. That caveman doesn't really look like you:rolleyes1 I mean, where's the green WISH loin cloth?:rotfl: That training sched. of yours looks pretty intimidating:scared: . I think I'm just kinda going to wing it.

Mike - Are you back @ work yet, or do you have a few more weeks off?

Cindy-lou-who - Don't know if we already went over this, but are you doing Disney in Jan? I see you're thinking of doing Minnie.

Dave - Um, perhaps you can get your hands on a bib for the marathon in Jan. & come down solo? Have your dad drive down...he's so cute!

OK, where is everyone staying in Jan? in Disney? We're using DVC points to stay @ Boardwalk. It's me, my DS12 & my Dmom - maybe Ddad. Bruce can't make it:sad1: .

YOu have DVC?!?! Well, HELLO friend, do you have points to rent?

Too bad Bruce can't make it.

I wanted to stay at POFQ but moved to POR to get the AP rate. Hey, I've never stayed there, so I thought $60 over the weekend will buy me a few Optimators...by the way, should I be afraid?:scared1: What should I tell DH when he picks me up off the floor.

The Thread That Wouldn't Die!!!!

We'll wean ourselves into the big group slowly.

Colleen - Yeah for your trip to The World! Kathy has been in a bit of a funk the last couple of days. Our AP's expired today:sad2: . Today (Monday) was her birthday and it's the first one in quite a few years not spent with Mickey. Sad indeed!

International Wire and Cable Symposium? Yikes!

Jodi - I am back on the job for the next 7 days. I hope to put my time here to good use and come up with my Goofy training plan.

I thought long and hard before choosing a DIS name. Optimator just seemed to evoke some of my most enjoyable Disney times. We have more than a few different pictures of me hefting a liter of the dark stuff (in varying states of sobriety).

I completely forgot to mention that I saw the Chi guy signing books at the expo. He was at Disney last year so maybe you'll get a chance to see him in Jan. Bring your book!

Sara - Does the bone scan result change anything or just confirm what you already knew?

Why does Mike think he's going to skip the half? He still has time to break a bone or two to get ready :rotfl2: . It'd be a bit of a shame for you to do a Goofy and not get the bling.

Chester - Now if you could only Photoshop some running shoes on your ancestor, he'd be perfect. When are you doing a half?

Good Morning MCMers: :surfweb:

OK, I got my run in yesterday after work. I did 3 miles on the TM. I admit it, I was a wimp. I was all set to run outside, checked the weather, and it was 40 degrees and rainy. Yuck! I decided to do the TM.

Wow, you guys all sound so excited gearing up for Goofy. I WISH I could come down with you, but, alas, there's no way I can swing it this year. DW would kill me too if I said I was going to start training for another marathon. Although, I have to say, training for the MCM was a lot easier than training for Disney was. Must be the difference between the 1st and 2nd marathon.

Mike- Sorry to hear that Kathy's feeling down. Please give her my best and WISH her happy birthday for me.

Colleen- Your going to Disney, again?!? You know that statement is all jealousy. Have a great time, and have a Mickey Bar for me.

Jodi- Wow, you're staying at Boardwalk for the marathon. I bet that will be beautiful. Maybe I can run a virtual marathon, and run 26 miles up here at the same time you're running.

Sara- How come Mike's not going to run the half? We didn't scare him off did we? Sounds like the bone scan results turned out OK. Good for you! Get yourself healthy for Disney.

Chester- Good luck with your Goofy training.

Good morning all!

I'll be on the road most of the day so figured I'd check in early.

Mike - WOW, poor Kathy, APs expired & no birthday w/ the mouse?? That IS tough. Tell her I said to keep her head up, Jan. is just around the corner. I may pay decent $ to see those picks of you in those "various states of sobriety":lmao: . But as Bruce can attest, those Optimators sure do pack a punch. He got the "munchies" after having just 1 (granted, he's not a big drinker) & had to sneak a pretzel into the "American Adventure" show...a week later when we got home we found big 'ol nuggets of salt from said pretzel, in his coat pocket!:rotfl2: Are you going to hook up w/ us in Jan?

Colleen - I thought you knew I had DVC:confused3 Have I not mentioned it b4? Let me know if you, or anyone on the boards here, ever wants to rent points. I usually use them all, or horde them:rotfl: as long as I can, but last year, for the first time, I rented some:scared1: . What is your LW for this weekend?

Dave - OK, but could you at least call me on my cell phone while I'm running the marathon & feed some of that positive attitude in my ear while I run? But you're going down for Minnie, right?

Sara - Hi. Are you really doing the GOOFY w/ me?:yay:

Chester - Isn't Tracy doing the half in Jan.? And one of your cruel kids:) doing the marathon with you?

OK, I gotta go. It's raining this am & I have to get the dog outside to do her business b4 I leave.

Mike - :bday: to Kathy!! Sorry she is bummed with the A/P expiration and for not being able to spend her b-day with the Mouse. That is a sad day for sure:sad2: . I'd say the bone scan was what I expected so I am totally winging it at this point:confused3 . Best of luck getting that Goofy training plan set in stone this week:thumbsup2 . There is a really cute pic of our DD's holding hands on the Marathonfoto site.

Jodi - There is no way I'd even consider doing Goofy even if I walked. I can't even bring myself to ask DH if he is doing the half but I believe the lack of training speaks for itself. I basically gave him the out when I said he shouldn't do it since he hasn't run in nearly a year:rotfl: . I didn't know you were DVC either. I stayed at BWV the year I did Goofy at it is a great locale. We'll be there for 10 days so we'll be offsite at a condo.

Chester - I second Mike's sentiment that the running shoes really would complete the avatar. I like your training plan for the week:cheer2: .

Dave - It goes without saying that you'll be so missed in January:hug: . This is my last WDW so we'll have to do the Utica Boilermaker or the Wineglass Marathon together for sure some day:woohoo: .

I ran twice yesterday and went back to Pilates class this morning. I will run a few miles tonight and maybe some yoga. I am planning on running a 15K Sunday at the moment:rolleyes1 . The leg is feeling pretty good but I have to go to Baltimore for business on Monday & Tuesday next week so I don't want to mess with it by racing before I go.
