Lou - Don't worry about that bail out, it's a regular occurrence for me!:lmao: ! Just think about it...probably 3 years ago 14 miles would seem unattainable. It's all good. But the marathons are wearing thin on my brain, I definitely need a break! I think I'll concentrate on my 1/2 times for a while. Maybe for that run in VA Beach in March I'll stick to the 13.1! I'm trying to muster up some enthusiasm for Philly as well...truth is I'm more excited to see everyone again (and meet Bots) than running 26.2 miles  .
Jodi - At least I'm not the only one. The LR's are wearing me out mentally and physically. I may focus on running faster in 2009 instead of just longer. I really want to run VA Beach but the thought of training in the winter... That 1/2 is sounding a lot better. 2 hours of running and then I can head for the beer :drinking1.

Chester - Thanks for the links. I'll check to see what races they had last April to see if there are any I would like to run. I'm staying up here for the series. Are you a Rays fan? Prior to this year I am not sure if anyone was a Rays fan. There are a lot of Phillies fans coming down and they are already angry about previous Tampa losses to the Bucs and Lightning. Plus there are a bunch of Philly transplants already in Clearwater. I expect a lot of red shirts on Wednesday.

Lou

Cam - Thanks so much for still wanting to have us over!

Jodi - I may focus on running faster in 2009 instead of just longer.

This is my plan for 2009! I just can't keep running this many miles at this slow of a pace. btw - My 51 mile week last week was my last week over 50 miles:banana:

Also, I'm kind of confused as to why Jodi has been sitting on Howard's and Mike's hands:confused3

Dave - Nice job on the biking! Even in the crap weather you got out there, good for you! Are you sore today? All set to cruise down to Philly? How long of a drive will that take you?
Hey Jodi- That's how I feel too about the marathon. I'm really looking forward to getting together with friends more than running the marathon. However, without the marathon, and without you guys, I wouldn't be staying in shape anyway. You're also right about 3 years ago I just started this running thang again, and I started by walking 2 miles. I was so excited at breaking all the mileage barriers. Now, I'm getting tired of the injuries and soreness.

Nope, no soreness at all (even from the bike seat) after the bike ride. It was actually a nice ride.

I'm thinking the drive to Philly should take me about 6 hours. I don't know what my plan is about going, but I have time to figure it out. The tougher part is going to be driving back after the marathon. Uuugh, I'm going to really stiffen up in the car...

Also, I'm kind of confused as to why Jodi has been sitting on Howard's and Mike's hands:confused3
Hold on just a minute!

First of all, you all are offending my delicate sensibilities.

What? Not buying? Alright, nevermind about that.

Second, I believe it was you, Miss Cindy, that brought up this whole thing about not being able to type due to your "handwarming".

Third, given the state of my 401K and the money we are plopping down this week for a new furnace/AC (we couldn't turn on the heat even if we wanted to), I'm quite sure I couldn't afford one of Jodi's special services.

Second, I believe it was you, Miss Cindy, that brought up this whole thing about not being able to type due to your "handwarming".

Yes, but I was being 100% serious! You and Howard are the ones who made it dirty. You should be ashamed of yourselves. :snooty:

I'm quite sure I couldn't afford one of Jodi's special services.

Wait a minute! I thought it was Sara who had the "Special Services".... :confused3

Am I right? :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Cindy~ Mike was right! It was you with the "special method" of handwarming - one at a time. :rolleyes1

No running for me today. I am going to run tomorrow after work.

Here is my schedule this week (Taper Week):

Monday: XT (I mowed the lawn, trimmed edges, leaf duty, put up curtains and mini-blinds)

Tuesday: 3
Wednesday: 4
Thursday: 2
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 26.2 fast ones

I have run 447.25 miles (to date) since graduation on May 27 in training for the Marine Corps Marathon. Pretty significant in the mileage department.

Have a great night!

:grouphug:

Howard

You guys are too funny :lmao: My hands are toasty warm here in FL ;)

We have the Halloween Party tomorrow and are pretty psyched about it. All in all having a good time at WDW. Mickey bar eaten in your honor Mike.

I figure if I can spare 30min to run in the morning then I can eat an extra mickey bar ;) Plus lugging around DD5 in the parks must count as exercise.

Jen - I'm jealous. I bet the crowds are light and the weather must be perfect this time of year.

Sara - How's the Philly training coming along? My guess is that Upstate NY is already cold. I'll think of you when I dread running in the morning like I do today.

Cam - I'll get back to you with our (Nicole and my) status for the carb loading on 11/22. I'm fairly certain we are in but I have no clue what my schedule is on the weekends, other than I know I am running 26.2 miles that Sunday. Your place should be very nice and airtight now that you had 31 new windows installed.

Cindy - 51 miles is great. You basically ran 2 marathons in 1 week.

Dave - A 6-hr drive after the marathon is rough. I dreaded the 1.5-hr drive home from LBI last weekend. Maybe you could grab Amtrak like Jodi. I actually think a relaxing ride in those big train cars (comfortable seats; dining car) would be the way to go, even over flying (cramped seats). 30th St Station is like a 1/2 mile from the finish line.

Howard - You are in good shape for Sunday. I'll try to track you on Sunday between the Phillies and the Eagles. What's your bib #?

Cindy, Mike and anyone else running MCM - What's your bib #? MCM has a pretty cool tracking program.

Hey Colleen, Chester, and anyone I missed.

It's cold today. Headed out for 5-6 miles this AM. I basically bagged a day-to-day training program and I am now winging it. I figure I need to get at least 1 20-miler in before 11/23. The plan will be to run the remaining LR's in Philly to use my home field advantage. During the week I'll just try to run as much and as long as I can.

Can Wednesday get here any faster? GO PHILS!!!!

Lou

Hey Everyone: 30 min on the exercise bike yesterday. Not much else to report. Good luck to all you tapering for the MCM.

Morning Lou- Good job getting out there this morning. Oh yeah, we're cold here in Upstate NY. We had frost yesterday, and they're calling for snow flurries tomorrow. Good idea about Amtrak after the marathon. I checked it out, and I don't think the times are going to work out for me though.

Lou~ My BIB Number is: 18368 for the 33rd Annual Marine Corps Marathon. I hope I am in good shape for the run... the jury is still out on that one. I always have the jitters race week. Add on to this that this is my first Marathon since January and my first since graduation. I will do my best, no doubt. I am looking forward to my run tonight afterwork - 3 or 4 easy ones.

Everyone have a wonderful day! And by all means GO PHILLIES!

:grouphug:

Howard

Go Phillies:banana:
Howard - I got you all set up on MCM tracking to my cell and e-mail:thumbsup2 . It's all mental and you KNOW you've put in the miles, your speed has improved tremendously and you've dropped nearly 20 lbs:worship: Now all you've gotta do is BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, my friend:hug: . You'll rock it for sure this weekend:cheer2:

Dave - I've got about a 5 hour drive to Philly myself so I feel your pain:headache: . Also, I'm definitely hearing you about being at a certain point with the running motivation. I remember being a maniac with the miles simply for the fact that I could but after 3 marathons last year and surgery along with nagging ailments, I don't feel the need to put in the miles these days:confused3 . I'll happily bang out 13.1 for the chance to hang with y'all but I could care less about getting out there prior to 11/23:laughing: .

Lou - I love that you're winging it these days and I think you're in good company on this board with your day-to-day training philosophy:thumbsup2 . Congrats on getting out there this morning despite it being early and cold;) . I hear we could get a few inches of snow tonight:scared1: .

Jen - Have a blast at MNSSHP tonight!! We definitely need pix of the costumespopcorn:: .

Cindy - Glad your 50 mile weeks are behind you:yay: and what is going on over at your house:rolleyes1 with the alternating handwarming techniques?! I was :rotfl: about the heat discussion because I also refuse to turn the heat on when my DD's are not at my house:hippie: .

Jodi - I am SO over training:confused3 ? I guess I should attempt another double-digit LR so it won't be too ugly next month but seriously, with it getting darker and colder outside, I am finding it hard to be lovin' getting in miles. Let's not even talk about the stupid leg that I can "feel" most of the time now:headache:

Steve - How's the achillespopcorn:: ? Do you have a time goal for the 1/2:rolleyes1 . I'm hoping to get psyched about the race real soon here so I'll get back to you with a realistic goal time:) Whenever I feel like crying about the freezing temps here I always think of how much colder it has to be in Maine these days:scared:

Mike & Colleen - :wave2:

Hoping to run at some point this week:rotfl: !!

Hidey Ho Mouseketeers: I did my 30 min on the bike this afternoon. No fuss, no muss.

Sara- It'll be good to see you again next month. Are the girls coming with you for the weekend/race?

Howard- Enjoy your taper week. You've earned it.

Howard - Hope you are in good shape? Come on...you lost 18 pounds and you have been getting faster as the weeks go by. Just make sure you where something nice on the back of your shirt so that I have something to look at when you whiz by me at Philly. I'm just hoping I am motivated enough that when I get to the halfway point that I don't follow Sara and Steve to the tent and bail out.

Right now I am just hoping for a parade down Broad St in a few weeks.

Lou

Hi everyone! I ran my first taper run tonight after work. Since I hadn't run since Saturday, I thought I'd air it out a bit and see what was under the hood.

Miles: 4.01
Time: 30:29
Pace: 7:36

Splits: 7:37, 7:57, 7:34, and 7:17.

I felt good, a bit winded, but that is to be expected when putting out effort like that.

Lou~ I sincerely doubt that I'll pass you in Philly. I will be happy to finish within 30 mintes of you - truly.

Dave~ Thanks buddy! I'll take the rest of my runs easy this week - 9-9:15 pace.

Sara and Lou~ I'm glad you'll be watching my progress. That'll push me even harder.

Hi to Cindy, Jodi, Chester, Mike, Steve, etc.

Have a great evening!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - Man, are you sure you weren't wearing roller blades? Save up that energy for MCM.

I think I'll try 5 miles this morning. It's kind of neat to be running down the bike trail with leaves falling all around.

The wait is over. Game 1 is only 14.5 hours away.

Lou

Lou - I'm headed out for a few miles myself in a couple of minutes. Best of luck with your 5 this morning and fingers crossed for the Phillies:banana:

Howard - Awesome taper run:cheer2: . BTW, I saw your bride-to-be's gorgeous hair and makeup session pics and if you keep that visual in your head as inspiration this Sunday you'll be all set:love:

Dave - I'm sure DH and the DD's would love to come to Philly but I am doing a solo roadtrip this time around:thumbsup2 Can't wait to see you:hug:

:grouphug: To everyone else!!

I've gotta get out the door or it'll never get done this morning:confused3 . Have a great day guys:yay:

Howard: good luck this weekend, you'll do awesome :thumbsup2

We had a great time at MNSSHP :cool1: The costumes were a big hit and we scored tons of candy! At the end of the night we were greedy little piggies and kept getting in line for extra Ghirardelli chocolate squares (the big ones). My family of 3 scored 21 squares and that was with DD asleep in the stroller :rotfl:

No running for me yesterday, I'll try today. We did see an alligator on Saratoga Springs grounds-- kinda makes you rethink early am or late night runs :scared1:

Jen - Florida does have all kinds of critters to beware of, especially when you can't see. Last time I was in WDW I nearly tripped over an armadillo while running past CSR in the early morning hours. The thing freaked me out.
