Cindy - The fact that you would and could run 18 before work still blows me away:worship: ?

I was totally kidding about that.:lmao: Well, sort of. I am considering doing 17 miles before work in a few weeks. But I'll probably just come in an hour or so late. I don't think I could actually get to work by 9 and run that far.

mla1977 - Congrats on your longest run! Its always fun to cover new distances!

Steve~ Do you happen to have any female associates who have recently been unemployed as swimwear models working for your firm? Just wondering. :lmao: :rotfl: :rolleyes1

Yeah, watch out for Jodi... (you know she may have STD). :lmao: :rotfl2:

I used to have this business where I sold things on eBay for people and I had a client that used to sell nothing but used exercise equipment, I even sold a few treadmills for him. No wonder why that guy was always happy. He must have had a side business moving equipment like the one you are describing Steve.

Go ahead, yuck it up there, fellas...Bruce is putting you ALL on notice as of today :scared: . Oh yeah, it's all fun & games until someone gets a fuel belt wrapped around their neck;) !

Well, my diseased body did me all right today; I must admit I was afraid that the antibiotics would slow me down (not to mention the incessant itching), but I finished my 18 miles w/ an avg. pace of 9:57. Way too many hills for my liking, but it's over now.

I must say, I'm not sure I'll be able to muster up the mental energy to run a 20 miler in a couple of weeks. Seriously, after this marathon I'm stickin' to 1/2s for a while :sad2: .

There! I'm not even going to respond to any of your posts! HMPH!:snooty:

Holy Carp! :scared1:

Hey boys, careful with all this stoning.

Jodi, I am there for you girl!:lovestruc

Hello Philly crew!! Sorry I've been MIA the past few days. I was running around like an insane person getting stuff ready for the trip. I did manage to get a long run in on Tues morning (and even typed up a post, but somehow my computer would let me submit it:confused3 ).

I have now officially landed in FL and am spending a few days with my husband's family in Sarasota before heading to the World on Sunday night. It was funny leaving from Philia airport with all of the Phillies stuff everywhere then landing in Tampa with tons of "Go Rays" signs...

My long run was terrible and proved I should really just stay up and run, not try to sneak it in early-- I'm just too slow, 10 miles takes me 2 hours :rolleyes1 I usually run at might after DD goes to bed-- turn on the tv, hop on the TM and jog. The final blow to my 10 miles was DD5 waking up earlier than usual and coming into the basement without me hearing her-- I was watching CSI and it was in a particularly bloody, awful scene  when I hear a little voice say "momma, what are you watching?" I nearly fell off of the TM and killed myself,, when I got my balance back I quickly shut off the program and brought her upstairs for breakfast. After putting on something appropriate for her to watch I halfheartedly finished my final mile.

Colleen: how is DD, hopefully on the mend

I'm not even touching the TM moving line of conversation :rolleyes1

Have a good week everyone, I'll try to check in now and again.

Colleen: how is DD, hopefully on the mend

Jen, Howard, Sara, Jodi and all...thanks for asking. Yes, she is better every day. She had a good day yesterday and we even discussed her going to school for half a day today, but she woke up this morning at 6:00 a.m. with the WORST headache. I gave her an Advil and cool cloth on her head and she fell right back to sleep and slept until 11:45!

The hives are lessening but she does get headaches and still has aches and pains. I hope she will be ready to go to school Monday because she missed 7 1/2 days of school with this pneumonia.

I have 17 or 18 planned for tomorrow morning. I am really squirrely from being in this house all week. I can't wait to hit the road tomorrow.

Jodi, glad to hear your 18 is in the books.

Mike, how was your 20?

What does everyone else have this weekend for LR's? popcorn:: Cindy are you getting in a 30 miler tomorrow?:thumbsup2

Colleen~ I'm glad DD is on the mend. Thanks for the update. As for my running this week and weekend.. here it is:

Here is what I was supposed to do this week

Monday: XT
Tuesday: 5
Wednesday: 6
Thursday: 5
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 4
Sunday: 12

This is what I did:

Monday: Rest (from my 20 mile LR on Sunday)
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: 10
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 10 (I will do this)
Sunday: 12 (I will do this)

This will give me the same overall miles this week as what is on my schedule (32).

Next week I get into the taper before the MCM next Sunday. :scared:

Jodi~ Take care of yourself. I think that stuff is curable, right? Good job on the LR! :cheer2:

Hi to Sara, Steve, Mike, Dave (feel better!), Lou (Go Phillies!), Jen (Enjoy the World), Chester, and Cindy (:worship: ).

:grouphug:

Howard

Mike - My bad, I forgot about the Cavs (who cares about them anyway). So Cleveland may have us beat. I guess I meant a "major" city :lmao: .
Lou - There you have it. The best team of the bunch for the last few years gets forgotten. And I didn't even mention the fact that Cleveland's long forgotten NHL team left town in the mid 70's or the original Browns bailing in the 90's.

Sara - Nice job on the great 4 miles and good luck on the 9. Fall is here too, at least for a few days.

Jen - Congrats on staying on the TM with the DD/CSI scare. I hope you time with the inlaws is enjoyable and have fun at The World. Eat a Mickey Bar (or anything else for that matter) for me. Man, I'm hungry!

Cindy - Let me say 2 things: First, your dedication is unbelievable. Second, you better be making a pile of money because from the outside looking in YOUR JOB SUCKS!

Steve - You just had to resurrect the whole treadmill thing, didn't you. You must have missed the post about what she puts out for an elliptical!

Colleen - Glad to hear DD continues to mend. Enjoy some fresh air and time out of the house this weekend. How long do you anticipate your LR taking?

Jodi - Don't let these meanies get to you. We, like most of the 5th Fleet on shore leave, love you.

Great job on the 18 miles! Today is not the day to worry about the 20 coming up. You have wait a day or two for the amnesia to set in.

mla1977 - Good luck breaking new ground! Be sure to let us know how it went.

Howard - Looks like you are starting you Goofy training early with the back to back double digits this weekend. Don't get too hung up on the total weekly miles though. No shame in cutting Sunday short and saving a little for next weekend.

Dave and Chester - Hey guys!

Well, the 20 miler is in the books. Everything went pretty well. I kept a very consistent pace (pretty much marathon race pace) except for water/Gu walks at miles 10 and 15 and a couple of short walking breaks in the last 2 miles.

They say (and I agree) that 20 miles is half-way in a marathon. I'd be happy running the first "half" of MCM next week like today and then stumble on in from there.

Take it easy everyone. Enjoy your weekend.

Hello Non-posting Saturday-Bots!!

Walked around a corn maze for about 4 1/2 hours today. That's all I can report! Oh yeah, and I'm feeling MUCH better  .

Colleen - Glad DD is feeling better!

Hello Non-posting Saturday-Bots!!

Ah, excuse me!:snooty: I was busy walking 17 miles today. It took me 4:01 and I am pretty beat up. I guess I person should be putting in miles during the week too during this marathon training.:rolleyes1 Now that DD is feeling better, the next 5 weeks of marathon training is going to actually have some weekly miles and some cross training.:thumbsup2

Jodi, good thing you didn't get lost in the corn maze!:)

Mike, good job on your 20 miles! So what is race pace going to be for MCM?

Jen, have fun in the world.

Off the ice....

Hi everyone! I just finished watching Penn State's WIN over Michigan! :cool1:

Mike~ Great LR today! I am glad you got it in, and with a great race pace too.

Colleen~ 17 Miles!! Woo Hooo! YOU GO GIRL!!!

I ran this morning (as promised) and here are the results:

Miles: 11.01
Time: 1:36:59
Pace: 8:49

Pretty good run overall, it was in the mid-40's when I went out and I had to bundle up. It was the first time I wore gloves this season to run. I am glad I had them.

I am "supposed" to run tomorrow. I'll see how I feel when I wake up. Right now I am trying to fight off a wicked headache. :headache: <-- one of those kind.

Have a great night everyone!!

:grouphug:

Howard

Mike, good job on your 20 miles! So what is race pace going to be for MCM?
Girl, you are all about the "what's your race pace going to be", aren't you?

Remember now, this is more of a training run for Philly than a race for me. That said, I think I'll tentatively shoot for around an 8:30 mpm pace through 20 miles, depending on traffic. The last 6+ miles goes through Crystal City. Maybe I'll stop for a bagel or a coffee, catch a movie. Who knows.

Great job on getting your big ol' 17 done. Did you have a glass or two of wine to assist with the recovery?

Jodi - 4 and 1/2 hour with The Children of the Corn? Yikes! Did you at least get some apple cider or some tasty treat out of the deal?

Howard
- Another strong performance, I see. It was a bit brisk this morning, wasn't it. I about froze my butt off watching DD5's soccer game this morning.

Take care everyone.

Colleen - I'm glad to hear that DD is doing better and that you were able to get your 17 in - nice job! I hope you aren't too sore today.

Jodi - Everytime I read "corn cop" I think "corn cob" and that stupid frosty the snowman song starts playing in my head.:confused3 :rotfl:

Mike - Glad to hear that your 20 went well!

Howard - I hope your :headache: is better this morning.

Sara, Lou, Steve, Dave, Jen, Chester :wave2:

So, I've had to work all weekend.:sad2: I'm trying to stay positive about it - at least I have work. When I don't have any work to do, that's when I should really be upset. My firm hasn't laid off anyone, but lots of big law firms have recently. As long as I'm busy and billing lots of hours, I feel like my job is at least safe. I've also been able to work from home, which is much better than spending the weekend in the office.

As for running - I got my 5 mile recovery run in yesterday late in the day. Today, I'm going to work for a few hours and then I'll do my 17 miler as a long mid day break. This is the run where I'm supposed to do 14 at marathon race pace. I've decided to shoot for a 9:50 pace today. That seems fairly conservative given my half pace of 9:01 but the thought of maintaining a 9:50 pace for 26.2 miles actually terrifies me - I'll let you know how the run goes.

4 hours wandering in the corn maze sounds fun. We wandered for about 2 hours before getting out of our corn maze, then we went and slid down hay chutes and jumped into a giant pile of hay (fun Amish style).

I managed to get in 3 miles on Friday and this am, my father in law graciously watched my DD for us to go on a quick run, so I don't feel like a total slug. No need for gloves here in FL, it was a pretty nice, relatively cool morning though.

Have a great Sunday everyone :)

Greetings Everyone: I got my long "bike" in yesterday. Just about 3 hours on the Erie Canal Trail, and I did ~32 miles. It was really cold and drizzling during the first part of my ride. When I walked out the door it was 35 degrees, sun wasn't up, and it was a light rain. Yuck, I almost didn't go out, but I eventually did. I'm a really slow biker. Don't know what it is, but I've never been able to go too fast on the bike. I guess the workout did me some good - it was better than nothing, but I didn't feel near as tired as I would have with a 3 hour run.

Not much else to report from yesterday. We finally took the girls, DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess:, to see WALL-e at the 2nd run movie theater. It was very cute, and I was amazed how much emotion they could get across without much dialogue.

Jen- Great job on your runs. Your at WDW, right? I'm so impressed that you can manage to keep your training going while on vacation. Good for you! :thumbsup2

Cindy- Wow, I'm also impressed with you squeezing in a 17 mile run as a mid-day break from work. Whew, I think that would wipe me out for the rest of the day. Can't wait to hear how your run goes.

Howdy Mike - Good for you getting that 20 miler in.

Howard- You have been a training machine. Wow, what a difference between when you were also working on your MBA.

Colleen- Really nice job on your 17 miler too. You're signed up for the full at Philly, right? Also, glad that DD is starting to recover from her pneumonia. WTG Mom!

Howdy Corn Cop wave2: Hope all is well in Connecticut.

Have a great day everyone. Go STEELERS! Go SOX!
