Hey Everyone: Thanks for the kind words about my cat's passing. I appreciate it. It's kind of given me and my family a heavy heart this weekend.

Cindy- Hope you're having a great vacation.

I got out and did 10 miles yesterday in 1:33/9:18 mpm pace. It was good to run. Nothin' much else to add.

Quick LR report since I'm so excited to actually have one to report:rolleyes1

9 miles in 1:32:51 for a 10:19 avg page. Splits were 10:54, 10:20, 10:20, 10:35, 10:07, 10:17, 10:23, 10:19, 9:34:banana: .

The best part was it actually felt good:laughing: . I truly think taking an extra rest day Saturday and doing my LR today helped a lot.

I hope everyone else enjoyed a little running nirvana today or at least those of us who are not vacationing:confused3 .

Dave - Awesome job on your run:cheer2:

Lou - Today's LR really did give the confidence I desperately needed to feel confident that PDR would be alright:cloud9: .

Have a great week guys:grouphug:

Sara- Awesome job on your LR! That's great. You are really doing well recovering from your injury. That 9:34 mile at the end tells me you must have been feeling really good too! WTG! :thumbsup2

Hello McPhillys,

Hope everyone is doing well. How is the training coming along? I arrive home last night from my little trip to the great neighbor to the north, all is well with my family, but it is nice to be home.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I got a few 5 mile walks in while in Canada and 4 miles in today. I still need to get my miles in if I want to do this Philadelphia marathon.

I will try and catch up between loads of laundry.:laundy:

Dave~ Belated condolences on the loss of you beloved family member/kitten.

Colleen~ I can't wait to see you in Philly! It is going to be an awesome race and a great turn out by the WISHer/McPhillies!

Friday was my rest day. Saturday and Sunday I spent volunteering at a summer camp for Special Olympics Delaware. I was a Camp Counselor (my second summer!) for 8 campers who mainly ranged in age from about 15 to 18. I had two genuinely nice Junior Counselors helping me out too. We had a great weekend. The campers left today after lunch. Unfortunately I had to leave last night after their dance at lights out. I didn't make it home and into bed until 1 AM. Ugh.

Today I was supposed to do XT. Since I missed mid-distance and long runs this weekend, I decided to run today. I managed 5 in the time I had allotted for it..... here are the results.

Miles: 5.04
Time: 45:30
Pace: 9:01

Splits:
9:47
9:00
8:52
8:53
8:36

Have a great night. Keep on training!

:grouphug:

Howard

Sara - Nice work on the LR. You look like you are good to go for the PDR.

Colleen - Glad you had a good time up north. Hopefully you can get in the miles in the fall once things calm down.

Howard - That's great that you volunteered at the Special Olympics.

Hello to everyone else!!!

I just got the email from Disney about how to get the special medal for the coast-to-coast challenge. You have to wear a wristband for the race and then you can exchange it for the special medal at the end.

I'm getting fired up now that the race is close!

I got 3 taper miles in today. I'm having some knee pain that I hope will pass over the next week.

Lou

Hello my bots

Sorry I've been absent, but I've been checking in regularly & reading...

Sara - I'm sooo happy about your LR, 9 miles, that's great! Imagine running semi-pain free...you deserve it! That's a long enough LR for the PDR, right?

Dave - Nice job on your run! How's the family doing? Did you see that Yetti is sold out??:thumbsup2 ...Unbelievable that Disney got all of us to pay $100 for a 5k:lmao: Can't wait to see you!

Colleen - Welcome home from the North!! How was the trip, anyway? Glad you got some walks in, you've gotta start pounding the pavement for Philly :rolleyes1 ...ok, me, too!!;) When do the kids go back to school? Are you going to teach Part time again? or just tutor?

Louie - So jealous about your megamedal that you'll receive!!:thumbsup2 , you'll have to post pix!! When do you leave?? Go easy on the knee, keep it limber, yeh?

Howard - So nice that you're a volunteer, good for the soul. And nice job on the training, you sure are consistent. How's the thigh? Cooperating?

Hi to all the others on vacation & such, hope the weather's cooperating for you down there!!

I ran 8 on Sat. & 3 yesterday (hey, it's all my plan calls for - I LOVE it  ). Tomorrow is speed work on the track :scared1: That should be pretty funny! I'll let you know! Have a great night, all!

Louie - So jealous about your megamedal that you'll receive!!:thumbsup2 , you'll have to post pix!! When do you leave?? Go easy on the knee, keep it limber, yeh?

Jodi - The familia and I head out to San Diego on Monday morning. We'll be in SD until Wednesday. Then we are taking Amtrak to Anaheim on Thursday morning and we'll be in DL for 4 days. Cannot wait! We fly back home on Labor Day. I'll post pics of the medals when I get back.

Good luck with that speed workout!

Louie

Jodi~ Hi! The thigh is doing well. I put it through its paces tonight with no issues and I've had none since the original day about two weeks ago. I am stretching before and during runs to prevent straining it. Tonight I didn't even feel a twinge of pain.

Hi to Lou, Dave, Steve, Sara, Colleen, and to all those I've missed!

Here are my results from tonight's effort:

Miles: 6.03
Time: 52:38
Pace: 8:43

Splits:
8:55
9:15
8:48
8:33
8:34
8:16

I am getting a bit excited. Although I am not able to keep this type of pace for the longer runs, it is getting easier at the shorter distances. If I can stretch this level of performance to the PDR, I will get my half marathon PR in September. I need to stay healthy though and I know it.

:grouphug:

Howard

Lou - Really psyched for you and the family:yay: !! How exciting that it's so close now and San Diego pre-DL to boot:thumbsup2 . Travel safe and have a magical time. I'm expecting to see pics from your west coast excursion at the PDR WISH Meet:rolleyes1 !!

Howard - I really DO see a half PR in your future next month:banana: . I will keep your continued health in my prayers:hug: .

Colleen - Welcome home:grouphug: !! Glad you were able to get some nice walks in up north. I'm sure you'll be fine for Philly once the kids are back in school next week and you can carve out some time to dedicate to LR's:thumbsup2 .

Jodi - I hope your track workout was nirvana today:cheer2: !! The Yeti being sold out is crazy - Disney really has some great marketing people.

Dave - I hope you and yours are hanging in there:hug: .

Cindy & Mike - Travel safe and I hope Fay hasn't wrecked any havoc on your best laid plans:wizard: .

Chester - Are you keeping relatively dry and tropical storm free in the western part of the statepopcorn:: ?!

HummuSteve - I had to wear gloves on my run this morning;) - just how cold was it up in the great state of Maine:scared: .

I did run this morning in a fleece and gloves which made me all too happy:cloud9: . I'd ran and biked last night as well so the legs enjoyed the cold today since they were complaining a bit. The knee seems to be holding it's own:rolleyes1 even being off the Naprosyn so that is a huge relief. I do think the PDR is definitely doable at this time:cheer2: .

Chester - Are you keeping relatively dry and tropical storm free in the western part of the state popcorn:: ?!

Hey Sara!
We didn't get any rain on our side of the storm - at least on the first pass. We had a little wind, but nothing that was strong enough to do any damage. The storm still hasn't decided where it wants to go yet. We are still on the projected South edge of the storm.

Howard, Colleen, Jodi, Dave, Cindy, Steve and Mike
Sorry for not posting very much, but I have been keeping current with everything you guys are posting.

Lou
I'll see you in Anahiem

Miranda started school on Monday and then had a "Hurricane Day" off on Tuesday. Chet turned 19 on the 14th and starts his Sophomore year next Monday.

I'm in the 5th week of Philly training and have been able to keep up with all the scheduled runs so far. Tracy and I will be heading to Cali for the DL Half on the 29th. I'm not planning on tapering since my training schedule isn't very tough yet. Tracy is not going to taper either, but that's because she hasn't yet begun to train. She was really doing well for a couple of weeks, but she hasn't trained for about a month.

It's already 1:01 and lunch break is over.

Happy training to all,

Chester

Chester - Thanks for posting and for the update:hug: . So glad to hear you're all doing well and I hope you have a magical time in Cali:thumbsup2

Howard - Nice pace on the 5 miles:banana: .

Colleen - I was able to get POP for marathon weekend through the AAA website for $69.40 per night. They had AAA rates on all mods @ $119.00/nt if you haven't made reservations yet.

Colleen - I was able to get POP for marathon weekend through the AAA website for $69.40 per night. They had AAA rates on all mods @ $119.00/nt if you haven't made reservations yet. I am solo for WDW '09 right at the moment:rolleyes1 and I'll be there Friday - Monday.

Sara, thanks for the heads up on the AAA rate. I went ahead and booked a room at POP "just in case". Right now, I am only 30% that I will do Disney this year.

I got out for my second "long walk" for Philly training yesterday and walked 8 miles. The actual walk was MUCH better than my 6 miler a few weeks ago, but I can definitely feel my knee today and the bottom of my heel is starting to hurt now too.:sad2:

Well, I am up early this morning to send DS11 off to his first day at Middle School. They have a little orientation today where they catch the bus and go through a little mock school day before the rest of the school comes on Monday. Must walk him to the bus stop, he needs to catch the bus at 7:05 a.m. and school starts at 7:30.

More later!

Hey Bots, sorry I haven't posted but the WiFi in Beijing was spotty.:rolleyes1

Colleen - WOW, 7:30 start? That's pretty early for a little guy...What's up with the heel?:confused3 I hope that's not a sign of things to come  . Have you signed up for Philly yet? No WDW this Jan. for you, eh? I'll miss you if you're not there :guilty: .

Sara - Hey wench :cheer2: How much are you lovin' this cool air we've had the last few nights??? I'm sooo psyched :yay: , bring on the fleece baby! How's the legs holdin' up? It seems like you've hit a groove with some good training now & are ready for the PDR!:thumbsup2 Don't waste all your energy though before Philly! RU going to run the marathon do you think?popcorn::

ChestyPuller - I hope you're still staying dry down there, what a freakin' nightmare! I'm so excited for you to go to DL, and will be waiting for a full report. Wish I was able to make it out there this time around - it's been a while. RU bringing Chet to school this weekend?

maryLOU - Sounds like you've got an awesome vacation planned surrounding your 1/2 @ DL:thumbsup2 , good for you! Please refresh my memory as to your tribe...how many kids? ages? Glad work seems to be going good as well. What's the dilly-o w/ that knee?

Cindy&Mike - Hope that a**wipe Fay isn't ruining your vacations :sad2: . Hey, at least you're not at work, right?

Howard - You running machine!! How is it you consistently churn out steady paces & mileage without batting an eye? I'm too jealous. Can't your trip on a rock or something to make me feel my training is adequate?:lmao: . Really, though, keep up the great work!

Dave - Now that you're fast & all I'm not sure we can be friends...sorry.:snooty:

ChickP - Where are you, buddy?

OK, so my speed work on Weds. was silly, but I got it done. Bruce has now dubbed me DoDo-Bolt, as I plan to run for Jamaica in the 2012 games in London :rotfl2: . My sched. calls for rest/XT for Thurs. Fri., but I ran 3 miles today cause it just didn't seem right not to run for 2 days straight. This is a weird plan, as I only run 3 days a week :rotfl: . Oh well, who am I to question the experts? 9 planned for tomorrow.

Oh yeh, I forgot to mention that Bruce bought me a fuel belt so I'll get to try that tomorrow for the first time. The only thing sillier than me running w/ ketchup bottles jammed in my RaceReady shorts is me running w/ a fuelbelt :rotfl: . Stay tuned popcorn:: :headache:

Jodi
The West coast of Florida has been dry so far through this Fay thing. Tracy drove Chet to Gainesville yesterday and was near the middle of the storm all day. It's the folks that live along the middle East coast that have really gotten drenched.

Run happy,

Hey Bots, sorry I haven't posted but the WiFi in Beijing was spotty.:rolleyes1

Hey, Jodi, you are here in Beijing too? I haven't seen you!:confused3 I guess I am just too busy wining and dining with Bob Costas and helping him and Bella write conspiracy theories.

Oh, and those darn batons had a mind of their own!

For those who care...

Here is your Canadian Olympic Moment

Canada has won 3 Gold medals at this Olympics, rowing, equestrian and wrestling.

Also an interesting note, Canada had less than lackluster success in the water only earning one bronze medal in swimming, freeze it and hot damn we are good! :rolleyes1

Hey Everyone:

Got a couple runs in. Yesterday, I ran the 5k+ x-country course, and Wednesday I did 5 miles. My runs have been going pretty well. It's 89 degrees here, and I think I'm not going to run today. I'm trying to do 12 tomorrow.

Jodi- Whassup with the dis? I seem to remember you coming in 4 minutes AHEAD of me in DC at the Marine Corps Marathon, and didn't you finish in front of Mike in the Disney Marathon this year? I didn't stop being your friend...
