Howard - Nice job running in the heat (although this morning was much better here, I hope it was for you too).

I hope the weather is getting better for everyone!

I've been very busy at work this week. I'm out on Friday to drive to a wedding in Chautauqua New York (should be a long drive).

After the 5k on Saturday, I ran 7 on Sun. and 4 each yesterday and today. I'm still doing easy miles. I'll wait until next week to really start training for the NYC half and add in some tempo/speedwork.

Back to work.

Hey all,

Been tied up with work a lot this week. Went to a cool event at the new Comcast headquarters in Philadelphia last night. We were at the top of the new building in their "cafeteria" which included a bar. It's like no cafeteria I have seen. The entire room wrapped around the top floor and the walls were all glass allowing you to see for miles in all directions. It was pretty cool watching helicopters flying below us. Now you know why your cable bill is so high. At least it was an open bar!

On the running front. Got in 2 4-miles runs this week. Pretty soon I'll start training for MCM and Philly. I need to get into a program because lately I just run when and where I want.

Howard
Thanks for the welcome back. I guess that everyone else must have fainted at my return.

Cynthia
Weather for me is only going to get hotter. I wait until after 9pm now on weekdays to get my runs in. I also have to try and predict when the daily thunder storms are due to hit. On the weekends I try to get up early because if I wait until 8am. it's already over 85 degrees and 90% humidity. Have a safe trip this weekend.

Lou
How many stories up was the Comcast Cafeteria? The view sounds breath taking.

Last night was a 3 mile progressive pace run. I averaged 9:08. I've got a 5 mile recovery run on tap for tonight.

I'm glad to be back here.

Greetings Everyone: I've been having a good week of training since I last posted.

Sat: 10 miles. I got out early before the brutal 90+ degree heat
Sun: rest
Mon: Speedwork on the track; 4 x 800m intervals
Tues: 4 miles on TM
Today: 4.89 miles. My Garmin died. I was planning 5 miles, but when I mapped it I was a little short. However, I placed a stopwatch at the start of my run and stopped it when I returned. My time was 41:23 min for 8:28 mpm!! Whoo hoo! Plus, I felt really comfortable the whole time. It was a glorious morning and a great run.

Chester- Welcome back. It's good to have you posting again. Nice pace on your run too.

Lou- That Comcast headquarters restaurant sounds very cool.

Cindy- You're heading to my neck of the woods this weekend. We're only 2 hours from Chatauqua, and went to a winter festival there in February. Where will you be staying? We found a really nice hotel that had a GREAT restaurant. The chef grew up in Jamestown NY, went off, worked in the White House, and then came back to Chatauqua.

Howard- Great job with your runs!

Sara- I hope your recovery is going well.

Where's Jodi?

Where's Mike?

I forgot to give a shout out to Colleen. Hi Colleen, how's it going for you now that the kiddos are out of school?

I forgot to give a shout out to Colleen. Hi Colleen, how's it going for you now that the kiddos are out of school?

Hey Dave, going well, just got back last night from a VBS campout. Loads of laundry today and lots of rest are on the agenda.

I will write more later...once the caffeine starts working.

Here is my training for this morning:

Miles: 3
Time: 26:23
Pace: 8:47

Splits:
9:11
8:28
8:44

I have now dropped 10 pounds since the Minnie Marathon. :cool1:  :yay: :dance3:

Hi to everyone! Enjoy your day!

Howard

Hello fellow goobers!

Sorry I've been absent as of late...seems as if wherever Chester was, they got rid of him & took me instead!

Colleen - Welcome home from camping!!:faint: It's hot down there, huh? Squeezing any walking in? How's your leg, anyway?

Sara - And your ailing appendage???

Lou - Too lazy to go back & read what you wrote, but remember the that you figured out why cable's so expensive :headache: .

Chester - Congratulations on being successfully exhumed!:stir:

Howard - 10lbs??? Sweet! And sweet times with your running...if you keep up the downtrend you'll be running 2 min miles in a few months!

Dave - OK, I'll come out & ask you directly since you seem to be skirting all the comments. You WILL be @ WDW marthon '09, right????...

Cathy - That's a lot of running for just finishing a marathon :thumbsup2 . Can't wait for NYC!

Mike - Come back to us....these boards just don't smell the same without you :worried: .

I ran 5 miles yesterday a.m., the middle 3 being tempoyucky; it was warm but I got it done, times were ok, too. My "training schedule" called for 2 miles @ an 11:07 pace this a.m??? I did 3 without a watch :confused3 . I will say that I think I like training for 1/2's more than marathons. I may soon be done with that 26.2 stuff...

Jodi
Hey gooberette! I guess we all have to take a vacation from the Disboards every once in a while - even if it is not intentional.

Howard
Your pace sure is dropping quickly. I've lost 4 pounds since Minnie and want to loose 11 more before Philly. It probably won't happen until my weekly mileage exceeds 30.

Hey to all the other fellow Goobers.

Made the 5 slow miles last night at 11:47 mpm average. Tonight is 3 fast miles at progressive pace increases. Saturday will be 5 miles at Half Marathon pace and Sunday will be 8 miles at marathon pace.

Dave - OK, I'll come out & ask you directly since you seem to be skirting all the comments. You WILL be @ WDW marthon '09, right????...
Howdy Raisinette. I am skirting the marathon issue. I don't know what I'm doing right now. In all honesty, I'm still holding out hope that I can do the Philly marathon with you all. I'm hoping that if I'm asked to attend the conference I can say I have another committment and they will send other people. I just have to wait until my new job starts for that. I think if I don't run Philly I will run WDW in '09, but I need to check with the family for that. I have enough miles for a free RT flight, and I have a timeshare deal that I could stay in too. So my options are Philly #1 and WDW #2. I've thought about other marathons, but I really don't think it would be as fun to run a marathon without you guys (seriously). I briefly considered finding another marathon to run in the Fall, but it just wouldn't be the same. I really want to be with my peeps.

Dave - I say do BOTH!! Don't tell the kids you're going to Disney without them...and if the wife has any issues have her give me a call ;) :rolleyes1

I totally agree!:thumbsup2

The portapotty lines are not the same without y'all.::yes::

Ahhhhh, yes....the good 'ol portapotty lines. I mean seriously, is there anyting more fun than that??? Good times....good times  . Have you registered for the WDW marathon yet, Canada??

:yay: Well if we're talking portapotty lines, I wanna join the party:banana: .

Dave - If you're going to run 26.2 you NEED to run it with friends:hug: .

Colleen - DID you register for WDW '09popcorn:: ?!

Chester - Your plan for the week looks great:thumbsup2

Howard - 10 lbs:cool1: that's awesome!! No wonder your running times are on fire lately:woohoo: .

Jodi - 13.1 sounds like a good time:cool1: . It may be my race of choice from here on out as well:confused3 . Nice job on the 5 miles:hyper: .

Cindy, Lou, Mike -

Went to the doc today but to me it was pointless since I wasn't really looking for him to do anything for me. The knee's okay and we're never going to see eye-to-eye on the running so I'm going to ditch him soon. It's DD's birthday today  so no after work running but I got in a few miles this morning before the big peanut butter pancake birthday breakfast::yes:: .

.

Colleen - DID you register for WDW '09popcorn:: ?!

Heck no, it is only 60 or 65% full right now, I never register until it is 95% full.

I am also trying to decide if I want to save the $15 clams and register for Philly before the end of June.:rolleyes1

Hey McPhillagooberbots,

Sometimes life just doesn't afford idle chit-chatty computer time:worried: .

I've actually just been too busy dodging flying strawberries :duck: :duck: . Thank God they put this smiley on here so I can give you a proper visual!

Dodo - 2 miles at 11+ mpm??? Are you sure you didn't enter the Twinkie Eating 5K for a distance???

I am also trying to decide if I want to save the $15 clams and register for Philly before the end of June.:rolleyes1
15 bucks is well on the way to 2 liters of the good stuff at the Biergarten! Gotta plan long term.

Sara - How was the BD?

Chester - Good to see you back. It looks like you have a pretty good plan laid out. How's Tracy?

Lou - I wish I knew you were going to hob-nob with some Comcast folks. I'd have given you my request for improved service. Bunch of idiots!!!:furious:

Howard - Nice job on the 10 pounds. I've got a similar goal for November, unfortunately my miles have gone down but the intake has remained the same.

Dave - Sounds like you've got it all figured out for WDW. Make it so.

Cindy - Howdy neighbor!

Chick Pea - Maine marathon... Hmmm. When is it? Everyone's coming? Alright. I'm in. My family of 5 will arrive at your house on Thursday before the race and stay till Tuesday. My youngest has special dietary needs that I will provide later. Can't wait!:hyper:

Anyone else??

I've gotten a few, warm runs in this week. Holy Crap! When did 5 miles get soo far??

Gotta go. Time for work.

Sara - I have to try peanut butter pancakes. Sounds good. Good to see the knee is coming back. Fire that doctor.

Mike - I think the Comcast Building is on the Philly marathon route. May be a good place for a Jodistop if you want to leave them a message about your service.

Dave - I think your job will understand. Just make up something good. As George Costanza said, "it's not a lie if you believe it."

Jodi - Welcome back. I agree with Mike. What plan are you following that has you running 2 miles @ 11MPM? I need to get on that plan because my knees are starting to hurt with all this heat.

Colleen - I'm like you. I usually like to wait until the end and pay the extra $$$.

Howard - Nice job on losing 10! You're also kicking it with the nice pace. Save some for Philly.

Hey Steve, Chester, Cindy!

Not much to report today. Did a little 8-mile bike ride after work today. I'll run 5 tomorrow morning and will get in some type of LR on Saturday. I think next week I'll try to get into a program. My deal with buying this company happens soon so I am not sure what my life will be like come July.

Lou

Hey Goobs!

HummuSteve - I was thinking about that fall marathon in Maine, too. I, however, won't bring my family of 5! When is it, again? You wife won't mind if we pitch a tent in the back yard, right?:rolleyes1 I'm almost afraid to ask, but how's the achilles?

Mike - I'll see YOU in Maine!:thumbsup2 Watch those strawberries, dude. :lmao: :rotfl: Twinkies 5K!! Right? This is the training thing you used on RW website. What gives?? Oh well, I'll modify as I go, I need to do speed work, can't get around it anymore :moped: . Have you been incorporating hills into your training?

I know I keep asking (Alzheimers), but what's up for you next? How's Kathy been? Is she running/walking lately? Is she running WDW in '09?

Lou - Watch that knee, please!! Stay on the bike for a bit...perhaps the work will keep you busy enough that running won't be possible. We don't need you on the injured list!

Chester - You too with dropping weight?? Sheesh. Ok, I'll join in...I'm gonna lose 10 lbs, too! Like I haven't been trying for years. However, I'm using my sons Wii Fit & diggin' this thing. I'll keep you updated popcorn:: (or not if I end up gaining 10 lbs!)

Colleen - Please sign up for Philly NOW! You need to save that $15 for your entry fee into Disney! :yay: . I'm soo excited! Where are we gonna eat??:rolleyes1

Sara - Happy belated birthday to your littlest princess , little cutie that she is!! WOW, those sound like some serious pancakes! I'll need that recipe, please! Your Dr. is a tool. BTW, I can't believe you slept in 'til 6:30 the other a.m. Isn't that some sort of record??

Dave - C'mon!! You NEED to be in the WDW portapotty line this year!! Wait a minute, I just thought of something, I'm only doing the half! ARGHHH!! Colleen, you & Sara will be missing if you sign up for the full. I think everyone else is in the 1/2 via Goofy...right guys???

As far as Philly goes, can you quit your job like 2 weeks b4 hand??

Cindy - Hi.

Howard - Hi, too.

Rest day or CT. My training plan, sponsored by Hostess Snack Cakes, gives me a choice of whether or not I want to do something today :rotfl: :confused3 . I think I'll sit this one out. I'm tired from waking @ 5 a.m. this week for runs. Plus my ankle aches a bit (still swollen) & so does my right knee.
