Phen-Fen Class Action Suit

Not sure the need to hijack the thread to talk about job performance personally, but I guess that's just me.

I took Phen Fen briefly and it never occurred me to seek compensation for it since I was fine and the drugs were well out of my system. I'd be a rich woman if I got compensated for waste of time medical treatment and medications that might have caused me long term harm.

To answer the OP, my neighbor received a check last week.

I believe that it was impossible to sustain the weight loss without the drugs because I think that the drugs created an artificial crutch by substantially lowering the appetite and raising the metabolism. Once I stopped taking the drugs, my appetite went back up and my metabolism went back down. The only reason why I stopped taking the drugs is that they were taken off the market because they proved to be harmful.

Does any weight loss drug/appetitie suppressant, etc. work if you stop taking it? That's the point of taking them isn't it, they are crutches. Isn't that why every ad for diet aids has the disclaimer that they have to be combined with regular exercise and a balanced diet and results not typical blah blah blah?

As for the debate with the OP - Her life. her choices. If she feels she should have been compensated, and was able to convince the drug company, more power to her.

I dont know anyone who has even filed a claim for this.

Speaking of class actions--we get mailings frequently (well not so frequently but see them quite a bit).

I can't understand the language half the time. Usually we ignore them. But if someone is eligible and files it doesn't make them a bad person nor lacking personal responsibility.



LLP--who often posts from work b/c she works from home on her laptop she purchased for a job where she gets paid for when she's actually working and she can only work when a call gets routed to her. Until a call gets routed I will post as often as I please. So please go watch a shopping channel and order something so that I can quit posting and get paid.

Haven't in months - I'm training my replacement, and as I'm sure you know, it takes twice as long to teach someone to do you job as it does to do it yourself.

Bingo. You have posted from work thus, you are being a hypocrite when you challenge the OP on doing The Right Thing. You just don't have room to question someone elses behavior when your own choices and decisions are IMHO faulty and morally reprehensible.

Please read my post above. Have I ever posted from work? Of course I have, but only when there was no work to be done. Of course, that doesn't stop you from bringing it up anytime you have nothing of substance to add to a conversation, debate or thread.

Like I was saying, I don't understand how you can question and grill someone else when you yourself has done some very unsavory things at the expense of the American Taxpayers.

I felt as just justified as BuckNaked in expressing my moral outrage. Brenda came at the OP with post after post waving her finger in the OP's face trying to intimidate her into saying she had done something wrong, which in and of itself was a bit of a hijack. I simply gave back to Brenda what she was dishing to FergieTCat.

Is that clear and concise enough for everybody why I said what I said?

Now back to the topic, I know several people who were involved in the class action lawsuit, one a former co-worker. None have shared whether they've recieved compensation as of yet.

The pharmacy I worked at back then wouldn't fill those prescriptions. A lot of doctors wouldn't prescribe it. It must have been the most predicted lawsuit in history.

FYI...Plaintiffs in Class Action suits recieve very little $$$. John Grisham's latest novel deals with the subject.

Frankly, I think it is stupid to start an argument in this thread that has nothing to do with the OP. Bucknaked posted an opinion, and someone has to attack the person rather than the opinion. Sometimes people just need to grow up. Let it go. Move on with life. Take your meds, whatever.
