Pets around the campground

Coming out of lurkdom to ask a question. I noticed it mentioned the other day, but I can't find the topic any more. I know there are loops at Fort Wilderness that are for pets, but it sounds as if they are not limited to those? I am hoping to find loops that I can be away from the usual pet parade while camping.

I know they are normally brought while camping, but people camp at Disney to go to Disney, not sit around the campfire and hike in the woods. I don't mind pets normally, but if I can find non-pet resorts, can I not find non-pet camping areas? Seems like the place would be big enough for both.

There are certain loops designated as "pet loops" - and generally that's where the pets land. At least those whose owners actually told Disney they had pets with them! (naughty naughty)

However these days it's not unusual to find pets on other loops as well if the pet loops fill up.

So you may run across an occasional pet on a non-pet loop, however it should hardly be a pet parade... unless you go hang out at the dog park or one of the dog walks.

In general pets are not allowed in the common areas - Outpost, Settlement, marina, beach, pools, trading posts, playgrounds, comfort stations...

However as has been noted on another recent thread, there are the occasional "rules don't apply to me" people that pop up from time to time.

There are loops specified as pet loops, and pets used to be limited to those loops. Since the pet pen was built, pets are seen pretty much everywhere. I don't know if WDW still recognizes the few "pet loops" as pet loops anymore or not. I know they would use other loops for overflow pets if the pet loops filled up. The past two years we have been put in a "pet loop" and I haven't even owned a pet in 15 years. Go figure. I even saw a small one in a park last week. I thought that was forbidden. I also noted in a post a few weeks ago that someone said they have been coming here for years without ever mentioning to authorities that they were bringing a dog. Another "rules don't apply to me".

Hate to tell you but all loops are Pet loops now. The great thing it Disney is now getting with the time and starting to let Pets in thier deluxe hotels

I don't get it. I can't smoke on the property because that would be stinky and offensive to people. But the animals can come and shed all over everything and it's OK.

Would you go on vacation and leave your children in a kennel??? Our dog is a family member. She goes where we go. And she's quiet, doesn't "shed all over everything," and is very well behaved -- more than I can say for a lot of children in WDW.

BTW, you CAN smoke on the property. On your own site and in designated smoking areas.

1st Disney reserve the right to call any loop a pet loop, its in their rules, depends on demand, so you never know if you will be surrounded by pets. 2nd where I go my dogs go, my eski actually looks forward to her stay at the Fort more than I do. I have been at the Fort 6 weeks out of the past 5 months and have found children to be more annoying than the dog parade. maybe there should be some 55+ loops that only allow children to visit during the day. I know I would pay any premium for that option.

I thought you went to Disney to goto Disney, not sit around the campground?

Dogs are just furry family members. Why would you NOT take them? It would be like leaving your children at home with a sitter while you went to Disney. Not to mention the cost of boarding a pet for even a weekend trip would be outrageous.

This is news to me. And good news. We camp so we can take our pets with us. This is a driving factor. Pets are part of the family and need vacation time too.

I do have to say, Ive been to FW plenty of times and have rarely heard pets. Most pet owners are responsible and take care of thier pets. But an occasional bark is no different than kids running around screaming. As long as it doesnt continue all night, it is not a problem. If you have such a hatred for pets, maybe camping isnt for you. Most campers have pets and take them wherever they go. Thats the joys of camping.

Don't be obnoxious and elitess, make it 45+. My old man fits in that category.

Ya know,,for the life of me I can't figure out why Disney would allow fish in their waterways Didja ever smell a fish when ya pull it outta the water,,OoooHaaaNaaa!! I would spose they stink so much because they poop and pee in the same water they swimm(among other things) !!! I mean really, Disney uses these same waters for ALL their property needs, doing YOUR laundry, YOUR drinking water, water used to prepare your dinning foods, (true, they filter it first,but still) And then they transport you across these waterways inna boat where you are thinking how beautiful while you are floating onna watery cesspool of fish slime filth and fish excrement and lets not even get started on all the cleaning fluids, human filth residew pesticides, fertilizers,etc. that get washed into the waterways EVERY SINGLE Night after Disney closes.
Wait,,what were we talk'n bout,,,oh nevermind,,I hope you hava great time at the Fort,,try not to step on any dog poop.

Maybe Disney could set a curfew for all children on property. Everyone under the age of 16 must be inside thier own room/camper after 1900. This would allow the adults to enjoy the fort too. On second thought, Disney doesnt enforce the rules they have in place now, so adding another would be futile.
