Pets around the campground

BTW, we were one of the families who used the Fort Wilderness kennel and depended on the location, quality, and low cost of it. It was great to be able to quickly drop her off for a few hours while at the parks.

That is no longer an option for us. Too hard to get to, and WAY more cost. Now she has to stay in the RV whether we like it or not....

I don't remember Walt ever saying that they were after the dog market. They need to stay truer to their roots.

Walt also said Disney World was for FAMILIES... not just kids. ::yes::

All the more reason I need to retire early and start up a pet sitting business on the Q.T. at the Fort.

I could call it....

In the interest of not getting in trouble with The Mouse, there will be a secret handshake and you have to 'know a guy' to use the service. :thumbsup2

How about lime green doggie bandanas?

I like it! We'll sign up, just have to find a green collar for her now....:)

So if Disney should stay truer to its roots, then they should ban alcohol at the other three parks. That's the way Walt wanted the Magic Kingdom.

Ooh... yes!! I'm also envisioning LGMH dog tags!

BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!

 :scared1: :scared: :faint:

I have all I can do to get DH to go to MK as it is!

And FWIW, Walt happened to have a dog of his own named Lady.

Inspiration perhaps??

Granted dogs weren't allowed in lots of places 80 years ago, but I'd be willing to bet if Lady were around today there would have been plenty of "accommodations" made for her around WDW.

There goes the neighborhood.

I don't get it. I can't smoke on the property because that would be stinky and offensive to people. But the animals can come and shed all over everything and it's OK.

I dont smoke but I love smokers. I work for a pulminary DR. so as long as people are smokers I'm working. Smoking may be taxed " to pay for healthcare " but it pays my way to Disney and pays for my trailer. Smokem if you gotem. :yay: Last year when we were there we were in the 1400 loop and it was full of dogs. No big deal. Wasn't loud or stinky. Perhaps the smells you speak of aren't from a dog but from some other source "nearby".

What's a troll, in DIS language? :confused3
Same as on the net in general; from Wikidepia.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in "that was an excellent troll you posted".

If they didn't have the nerve to sell it in the original park that Walt built, then they knew it was anti-Disney. If they tried, it would cause an uproar and go over like a lead brick. I agree with this poster, they should take it out of all the parks.

If I can't take a tax deduction on 'em, they aren't going to Disney for vacation.

My dad used to include the vet bills when itemizing his taxes. He was even audited twice, and won! So that theory is blown out of the water. (albeit - illegally)

The only reason we have an RV is so the cats can go with us. In all the years we've been camping at the Fort, I can only recall one time a dog was a nuisance - and that's because the owner broke the rules and did not put the dog in the trailer when they left for a park. Poor doggie howled and barked all night. I'm sure he/she was scared and felt abandoned. How would you feel if you were left chained to a tree in an unfamiliar place and your family abandoned you?

I don't own dogs, but I love dogs! I think Disney needs to provide a dog with every site!! (and a keg with every site).

Anyone have any troll flavored milkbones?

And yes, that would be one of the *3* dogs we take camping with us to the Fort each year.

And we packed that chair just for her. pirate:

OH NO!!! I cannot let my dogs see that chair!!! They spent all of the Thanksgiving trip giving the stink eye to a BIG cat that was camping next door to us, that had brought her own special chair!! I never heard the end of it, now they want their own chairs too!!:rotfl2:

Oh My Lord!!!:rotfl2:

Up until now, although my dogs are of the teeny variety (and therefore of the type that is prone to wee adorable outfits:crazy2:), they have been nudists...

But if they see those hats---they might change their ways!!!

I don't remember Walt ever saying that they were after the dog market. They need to stay truer to their roots.

Mickey Mouse has had a pet since 1930, when Pluto was introduced as a character. Walt clearly saw the value of a good dog.

The thought has occurred to me more than once. It would be quieter, not to mention cheaper.

As to the dogs, we have two but we are able to distinguish between human and canine when counting family members. If I can't take a tax deduction on 'em, they aren't going to Disney for vacation. The way I see it, Disney is for the kids. If you can't listen to them then you're in the wrong place. The dogs don't fall into the same family. I don't think that dogs are in Disney's customer demographic.

So what happens to your kids when you can no longer "take a tax deduction on 'em"? Do they turn into dogs? Our dogs are always going to be part of the family, deduction or not.

Personally, I love animals. I would have a dog or a cat now if my son was not allergic to them. We request non pet loops because my son has terrible asthmatic reactions to dogs, so we just try to avoid them if possible. I don't mind at all when people bring their pets to the Fort when they behave like responsible pet owners.

However, the guy parked next to me in a "non-pet loop" keeps his pretty lab locked up in the camper all day while his family is out at the park. It breaks my heart to hear that poor dog cry all day! I can't sit outside the RV because I just get the urge to break down his door and set that poor animal free. No one in the sites surrounding us are enjoying the outdoors either because of all the barking.

It is just sad when one bad apple ruins the reputation of so many other responsible owners.
