Respect is earned. At work, in sports, in entertainment, in pretty much every aspect of life, this little axiom holds true, if you want respect you need to earn it. At Disney I think this applies as well. There are so many rides at Disney, yet very few have earned the amount of respect that Peter Pan's Flight has.

First introduced in Disneyland in 1955, and then in Disney World in 1971, this family favorite has been faithfully entertaining countless guests for over 50 years – that is worthy of respect. In a time when so many rides are being changed or updated to include modern features and technology, PPF still manages to wow us with it's old school charm – that is worthy of respect. There are only a handful of rides in all of the Magic Kingdom that use a fast pass system to deal with the long lines they generate – Peter Pan's Flight is one of those rides – that is worthy of respect. The truth is that there are a lot of reasons why Peter Pan's Flight is worthy of our respect, and that is why it is still one of the most popular rides in all of Disney.

Peter Pan's flight is a fast, continuous loading attraction that allows 2 or 3 guests to sit together during it's roughly 2 1/2 minute journey. The theme of course is based on Disney's classic Peter Pan. Your cart is actually a flying ship which you ride through some of the famous scenes of the movie. From the nursery, to Big Ben, to Mermaid lagoon, to Captain Hook's pirate ship, so many of the scenes from the movie are fantastically brought to life in this amazing little ride. There is really nothing high-tech about it, but that just adds to it's charm. Disney wanted a fun, family style ride that would immerse the guest directly into the story, and what they produced does just that. As adults we tend to look at things more realistically, so we might miss some of the magic, but for a child, this ride truly is a magical experience. For decades children have been whisked away on this flying ship, and taken on this wonderful expedition. This ride turns every child's dream of flying into a reality.

I think this is one of the rides that best exemplifies what Walt Disney had in mind when he created his parks. This is a fantastic, family adventure that transports us to a place that few others can, and for that reason, I say again that this ride deserves all the respect that it is given. I look forward to our next Disney vacation so I can once again magically fly over London and Neverland on this classic ride.

What does Peter Pan's Flight mean to you?

Peter Pan's Flight means:

Dark ride!:thumbsup2
Flying 10 feet in the air!
Don't wear sandals!:scared1:
That moving platform will make you miss your ride!:headache:

Hate the wait, but FP makes it nice, it's a great ride, my mother loves it to death! So i usually ride with her on this one tradition!

PPF is the only ride I remember from the trip my grandparents took me on in 1975. It's still a must do for me every time I'm there!

This is always the attraction that we ride first thing and last in Fantasyland. I was a young adult when I first rode Peter Pan, and was fascinated. The scene flying over London and watching all of the tiny car headlights moving is still my favourite part. It really brings out the kid in me. Despite all of the technologically complex attractions that Disney Imagineers have developed through the years, this simple ride still holds a very special place in my heart.:cloud9:

PPF is the only ride I will wait an hour for in Fantasy Land, and it's soooo worth it.

I just went on my tenth or so trip and I just now noticed the "clouds" over London. Last summer, we just spotted Tinkerbell after leaving London. Did anyone else think that one of the mermaids looked exactly like Ariel? Check out the one in the middle. Same color bikini top and everything.

This is my favorite ride. I don't know why. I'm 36 and I should be liking things like BMTRR or Space Mountain, but it always come back to this one for me.

I feel ya. It's a great ride. And the thing is, when I rode it for the first time three years ago, I could have sworn I had ridden it before, though I had never been to DW or DL, or any Disney park at all.:confused3 I am now 48.

Peter Pan's Flight is the fulfillment of every child's dream. It is a classic, wondrous two-minute journey that ignites my imagination every time I am on it. It is what Walt Disney had in mind when he created the parks, I think.

Peter Pan's Flight is Disney World all in one ride.

Its what I remember from childhood - I really thought we were flying. It is a must do every trip . When I ride it I think "this is Disney". All time favorite ride!!!

:tink: Peter Pan's Flight is Disney to me. It is the first ride I think of when I think of WDW. It is what I think of when I remember my first family trip as a little kid in the 70s. It is the ride that impressed me the most back then and that has continued to be my favorite ride at WDW ever since. It is the ride I always wanted to ride more than once as a kid. There is just something about that magical feeling of flight (with real forward movement as opposed to today's simulator screens) over scenes of beloved places and characters that is unmatchable.

Peter Pan's Flight is what brings a smile to my face when I think of DD's first trip when she was 2. I didn't influence her. I didn't tell her it was my favorite or tell her she was going to love it. Imagine my surprise when upon riding it, it instantly became her absolute favorite ride at WDW. She was in absolute awe on that first flight and had her mouth hanging open in a huge smile the whole time and didn't want to get off. She immediately wanted to get in line to get back on and fly again. I think we rode it 5 times over the course of her first trip (if it wasn't such a popular ride with such long lines we would have ridden it more).

DD is now 5 and has been to WDW 4 times. Each time we hit MK, the first ride she always wants to ride is Peter Pan. It remains her absolute favorite. I can spend a whole day with Peter Pan fast passes in my pocket because every time the window opens to get a new fast pass, that is the one she wants me to run and get.

That connection between DD's childhood and mine is an absolute gift from Disney. To see DD love something so much that I also loved as a kid is just amazing and wonderful. To me, to see today's children love that long-standing ride and that magical flight, just as much as yesterday's children, epitomizes the true Spirit and intent of Disney. It is true place to "leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy"

It reall does exemplify Disney. Immersive dark ride with amazing looking ride vehicles and a unique ride system. Great, iconic scenes in the ride.

It is kinda short, but whatever. It's a classic.

Seriously. I am sitting here at work, of course, talking about Peter Pan's Flight when the Web guy comes out and starts talking about the history of the legend of Peter Pan.:rolleyes1

Weird, huh?

I love PP's Flight and so does the rest of my family. In fact, our latest tradition is DH and oldest DS heading off to Space Mountain while younger DS and I head off to get PP FPs.

Good plan!:thumbsup2

Our IT guy just stopped by and was curious about the "work" program I was using...:confused3

Work? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Peter Pan's Flight is my favourite ride at the Magic Kingdom! It is just so magical. I can fly!! It seems so simple but it's so fun.

Riding in a flying pirate ship in a dark ride? What's not to love!? PPF is just plain classic Disney at its best. Our first stop in the MK (mostly because we won't wait an hour in line for a two minute ride like that) most mornings. Always been a favorite of mine since I was a small boy. I still get a little giddy to ride it now in my 30s. :)

I know, right?

 "Program? Program? Uh, you know what, Mr. IT? I just saw some guy in the other part of the building drinking an OPEN SODA over his keyboard!"
