Peter Pan's Flight - please help me understand

It has always been one of my kid's favorite rides because you feel like you are flying. They are big Peter Pan fans, too. DD once said to a group waiting to board an airplane as we were deplaning: "I just flew like Peter Pan!", and ran off with her arms spread like an airplane.

So, when we hit Fantasyland, it's Peter Pan then Dumbo. Where else can you fly with the stories you love so much? It's magic to them, and to me, too!

There are a couple places at WDW that make me feel like I've arrived finally on vacation. Driving under the sign on the road is one. Hearing Peter Pan say, "Let's goooooooooo" is the other. It's the first ride my kids want to go on when we arrive. It's the one last ride they want to go on as we sadly leave MK. It just makes me feel warm inside. I recognize it has limitations and others might not be enthralled as us - the crumpled tinfoil in the volcano has become truly dreadful - but it invokes a warm feeling anyway.

That said, I won't wait in an overly long line.

Another good reason to go to PPF is that a few people have scored YOAMD perks there.:thumbsup2

As with anything...either you like an attraction, show, restaurant, park, song, book, movie, or person... or you don't.QUOTE]

I agree. Nobody seems to understand my love of the TTA. But I love it. Now that you have experienced it, if its not for you, don't go again. I personally will never enter the Tower of Terror again :scared1: .

Its, as OP's have said...a Classic :thumbsup2

Some Peter Pan History...

Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up is a play written by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie (1860–1937), and first presented on the stage at the Duke of York's Theatre on 27 December 1904. In 1911, Barrie adapted the play into a book, Peter and Wendy. It is a story of a mischievous little boy who spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the island of Neverland as leader of the Lost Boys. The story features many fantastical elements, one of them being that Peter has the ability to fly, and his friends include a fairy named Tinker Bell. In addition, a crocodile that has swallowed a ticking clock stalks the pirate leader, Captain Hook.

Peter Pan has always been my fave story of all time. I love the ride because just like Small world and the other older rides it is all Walt and that is what i love. Now my son loves Peter Pan and now I can enjoy the ride with him who just loves it. I think all the kids at heart will always love it:hug:

I think everyone summed it up pretty well. It evokes a feeling... It's MAGICAL. The wait is pretty dreadful at times, though. Ugh!

ET ROCKS!

Love Peter Pan and love E.T.

One of my favorite things about E.T. is the queue. Love that queue!

I agree Peter Pan and It's a Small World are absolutely magical. That's why I keep going back.

It's a sentimental favorite. I loved it when I was young. When I had my own child, I took her on it and she loved it. She's 17 now but still insists on hitting Peter Pan at least once a trip. :thumbsup2

Plus, I really love looking down at the lights of London. It's magical.

1) It can be misunderstood

I really don't know why, but this ranks as one of my favourite responses ever, Rusty! :)

In Disneyland Paris, the Peter Pan attraction is one of the only fastpass attractions. Lines build to over an hour shortly after park opening, and are often 2 hours or more at peak times. Peter Pan has one of the longest lines there on a regular basis. And the Paris verison is not as good as the WDW version, which is not as good as the DL version, in my opinion!

I would take any WDW first-timer to Peter Pan as their first attraction. As with all dark rides, it's supposed to be a bit mysterious and creepy, but the visuals are pretty and delightful and the ride is unique. I enjoy its gentle shift in speeds that makes you feel as if you are floating. It's a great intro to all the magic that Disney has to offer.

I like it because of the message.

One of my favorite movies is the non disney "HOOK" with robin williams. Peter Pan grows up, and forgets what it's like to be a kid, and how to love his kids.

That movie makes me cry because my kids are my life, they make me happy. They are my happy thought.

So when I ride peter Pan, it reminds me to think about life from my kids perspective. they dont know about the stress of bills, crime, war. they just know how to have fun and give back the love they get.

So peter pan is very special to me for that reason. It makes me think of how much i love my kids.

Alright. That's it. Time out. You made me all verklempt. Now I have to go kick a puppy or something. :rotfl:

I love being blog-linked.

(Its almost as much fun as riding Peter Pan!)

:goodvibes

Today's your lucky day then! Hee hee.

Haven't got around to blogging today yet, but I will. I have five blogs. Sheesh. I need a less time consuming hobby. :lmao:

For me, it taps into my childhood wish that I could fly. That's why I love Soarin' too, which I know some people are lukewarm about.

Those are the kinds of experience I like best at Disney--stuff that taps into my too-dormant capacity for imaginative play. Disney doesn't need to wow me with speed, or surprise me with unexpected twists, or make a big production of showcasing its newest technology, or try to be hip. It just needs to remind me of when I truly believed in the possibility of all things, before I became an adult and left some of that behind.

Nice thing about PP is that it is a Fast Pass Kiosk. I love the ride as much as anyone (If you saw my Capt'n Hook sticker on my Vue, you would know), but, I won't wait for any ride that long.

It's FastPass or EMH for that ride.

I wish my wife would let me wear my mustache like Capt'n Hook. That would be SOOOOOOOOOO cool!
