Peter Pan's Flight - please help me understand

I apologize in advance if I offend, but I really do not understand the popularity of this ride. DH and I were finally able to get on it this last trip to see what all the fuss was about, and when we got off, we just kind of looked at each other and went "Hmmm." Why is it always on so long of a wait? :confused3

So funny that you should mention this. DD15 LOVES WDW...loved the characters, loved the Christmas decorations, loved the Akershus Princesss Lunch...But this trip, after we had ridden Peter Pan for the third time (always with FP) she expressed the same thought..."why do we ride this lame ride so many times?"

I personally love the boats and the music.

15 yo's, in general, are not good judges of lame-atude.

They view much of the existing world through lame-colored glasses.

Even it they DO like something, they are loathe to admit it.

I never went to disney as a kid so I don't have any great memories of riding this ride as a child but I still absolutely loved it. I love how it made you feel like you were flying I thought it was great. My kids loved it too.

I adore this ride, but I can't deal with those lines anymore. I walked right on Pooh and Snow White this trip and waited barely 10 minutes for Small World and Pilharmagic. But I had to skip Peter Pan. That looooooooooooong line just isn't worth it.

For me, it taps into my childhood wish that I could fly. That's why I love Soarin' too, which I know some people are lukewarm about.

Those are the kinds of experience I like best at Disney--stuff that taps into my too-dormant capacity for imaginative play. Disney doesn't need to wow me with speed, or surprise me with unexpected twists, or make a big production of showcasing its newest technology, or try to be hip. It just needs to remind me of when I truly believed in the possibility of all things, before I became an adult and left some of that behind.

well said....

it has always been my favorite ride at MK.

the only other ride I get the same kind of feeling is on the part of POTC when you enter the cavern with the pirate ship firing its canons....

This ride is DW favorite ride in MK, and we will take the flight at least twice each trip. We do watch the line for a lessor wait time because its so popular.

I think Snow White isn't as popular b/c she doesn't really appear much (at all? It's been awhile so Im not sure), in the ride. Plus that one is a bit scary for some younger kids.

i love the suspended vehicle system. it's a whole different experience than most other dark rides. some neat effects too.

it's no ET mind you..

I don't see why people rave about ET! We went to U.S. years ago and hated it - but it may be better now with IOA, don't know. I didn't like the fact that you could look over your head and actually SEE all of the wires, suspension gear etc of ET - in full view. I don't see that at Disney and it's easier to suspend belief and thoroughly enjoy the ride.

Yes, PP is slow loading and is somewhat like a carnival ride, but, oh, it's magic and so well done. Looking down at the twinkling lights of London whilst floating through the air... Ahhh, love that ride. It's simple. It's special.

:thumbsup2 I really can't say why but, Peter Pan is my favorite ride in all of MK. Hands down. I use FP for it of course but, if it wasn't available I would be waiting in that line.

The music, the story, and most of all---you're on a flying boat!! I wouldn't go on w/o FP, but we never miss it!

PP is such a great Disney movie. The effect of flying out of the bedroom and over the streets of London is so cool. The music is some of the best of the signature Disney stuff and when we're at WDW, a least a bit of Peter Pan is in all of us. :tinker:
