So, when my mother put our engagement announcement in the paper she was all upset that no one would see it. It is-as she puts it...a blurp. Amongst all the other announcements she's right (don't tell her I said that)but DF wanted it small and did not want a picture. HOWEVER, where she was wrong was that people see it. I just went to Rite Aide today and the lady behind the counter congratulated me and told me that she grew up with my dad. SO TAKE THAT MOM! People do see it...even if it was only 11 lines long!

I did forget to post the happy...Sorry...Past couple of days have been rough.
so, without further ado...
I FOUND A VEIL!!! Kind of.
It's my mom's veil. I'll be using the trim and the some of the tulle. Her veil was super dooper long, so it will need to be cut down. The doily looking thing that is tacked onto the headband I am going to see if Rosie can but into the wrap on my flowers. I will post pics when I get them.

Awww, that's nice about your veil. Mom mom gave her wedding dress and veil to my Nan to look after. She thought my Mom didn't want it and cut it all up to make placemats

That is terrible! My mom's dress was discolored way before this point. I'm glad she has her veil. I'll get pics this weekend when I am over there.

You do not win these trips. They are after your money 99% of the time and if you have to put ANY money down you did not win a thing. My sister works for a Canadian version of the Better Business Bureau and hears this all the time. I hope to G you have not given them a credit card number or cheque. I hope you are the 1% that it is legit but having to pay for air when you "won" it? Run away and do not enter these "contests". Phone the BBB and give them the particulars of the vendor if you do not believe this. Your time is worth more than a high pressure time share presentation.

Actually, we got the trip...No strings attached. They guy was very honest and so was I. I nicely told him I didn't want his pots & pans. No $ information was changed. He siad I didn't have to take his pots & pans, but I did win the gifts... I figured this when they called and brought my dad...who is a stickler for stupid sales pitches. Needless to say, I walked out with everything that I needed...The second company that called didn't sound nearly as honest and I didn't bother to give them my time.

Thanks. DF and I talked some stuff out...He wants his immediate family there and is afraid that his sis, bil, and bro won't be able to make it. I asked if he wanted a "family vacation" or them just at the wedding...He said just the wedding. Makes sense and I have enough change in our change jar to accomodate 2 nights at an value resort. We have enough time, but I'd rather know NOW than after all the $$$ has been put down to find out they can't go, he doesn't want to not have them there...I have a back up plan and life is good.
(I didn't want to post all that before. I was feeling a little like Bridezilla and didn't want it to come across that DF was being unreasonable b/c he's not...but I don't want to sacrifice my dream wedding...Back up plans are good)

I talked to my seamstress today...She can create a veil with all the pieces and parts. Now to just get the veil cleaned and find a dress. I'm a little backwards here. I have the tiara, and now the veil...still no dress... We will continue shopping in March...stay tuned for that.

Next up...Veil pics...I'm putting my camera in my bag now...

Hi Everyone

I just watched Toni's wedding and it was beautiful!

As promised, here are the pictures of the parts of my mom's veil that I want to use. First is the box. Now, I wouldn't think this really any big deal, but it's the original box! So, I thought it was pretty cool...

This is the headband. I want to take it off and have Rosie wrap it around the wrap on my flowers. I figure it would allow for the color of the wrap to come through and be a little different. Besides, I still want the Hidden Mickey closure!!!

Finally, this is the lace that edges the veil. My seamstress said that it should be no problem to attach it to new tulle if needed.

Now it just needs a good wash to see what kind of color we are working with and where we want to go from there...I'm afraid of doing this, but we need to get it clean and we need to see the actual color...then I might have to find a dress with that color...I guess. This is where I'm a little torn. I'm not sure what to expect from cleaning it and I'm not sure I want to wear ivory. decisions decisions...

Sometimes I feel like I'm going about this wrong. I got my tiara a couple of years ago b/c it was going to retire. Now, I found my veil-or at least parts of it...Still no dress! *LOL* I have time, but I still find it kind of funny. <-I love that smiley!

I have that same Christmas Bauble too! I saw it back last year, and couldn't leave the shop without it.

You're pretty organised! Fair enough you're planning a 2010 wedding, and I'm planning a 2011 wedding, but we got engaged around the same time -I think - and you have so much done! I haven't even been in any bridal shops!

BTW, is that a clip art pic of the ring box that you've got on your thank you cards? Im looking for a pic like that, but can't find one!

Truth be told, I've been planning for the past 7 years! DF pointed out early in our relationship that Disney did weddings...and it kind of stuck. So, once the ring was on my finger I figured it made REALLY planning fair game!

Our thank you card is actually a stamp that was embossed. I found the stamp at AC Moore. You might be able to find it online. I'll try to post a pic of the stamp-it actually has a cute little ring on the inside, but I covered it up with the gem.

So, my cousin is convinced-she is crashing the wedding...Has anyone ever had someone do this? How does that throw off the head count? YIKES!
She said she would wait for the ceremony to be over with and then show up...Um...ok... I think it's funny b/c I can so see her doing it!
