Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

Awww, how wonderful!!!!

I hope I feel the same when we visit! :)

As if we weren't teary-eyed already. My mom and I walked thru the breezeway. She was still in awe of how beautiful the WP was and HOW WHITE! She just kept saying that she couldn't believe how white everything was, and how there are so many bugs, and how she still couldn't believe how they just left the pavilion open and that no one vandalizes it :lmao: Anyway, we walk through the breezeway and look up

IMG_3263.jpg

I think we were more in awe of the details. I was impressed with the hearts around the bell! (I think I've managed to take some of the silliest photos-the carpet, the bell, I just wanted to remember all of it...:goodvibes ) Anyway...My mom walked into the Bridal Vestibule and closed the door so that I could take a pic

IMG_3267.jpg

Again, kind of crooked...If my photo professor saw these he'd scream!

When I went to open the door, my mom tugged on it from the inside and said that I couldn't come in there. What! No, she said I couldn't go in. I finally told her to let me in, which she did. And then I saw it...

IMG_3265.jpg

For those of you that have been following along you know the story about why the theme for my wedding is Petals & Pixie Dust. For those of you who don't...the quick version is that the last movie my grandpa saw before he died was Beauty and The Beast with me and his wife's name (my grandma) was Rose. So, its safe to say that the beauty of the WP sold my mom on having the wedding at Disney. This sealed the deal. NOW, I have to ask...Do they take requests for what room you will be in? I want the Rose Room. Dang! I'd even pay to have the Rose Room! (Ok that might be a little overboard but it's that important) Here is one more picture. Sorry, I didn't take pictures of the other room...it just didn't seem that important...I hope you understand...

IMG_3266.jpg

At this point I'm excited, happy, sad and comforted all at the same time. Is that weird? I was excited b/c this visit was such a success. Happy b/c my mom and I were on the same page and loved every thing about it AND I was going to have my wedding there. Sad...I guess...b/c I was missing my grandma and I know that my mom was too. Comforted to think that maybe in some small way she was there with us.

Again, this is one of those things you see in everyone's PJ's. Why should mine be any different??? :rolleyes1 Well, ok so this wasn't you true "PJ" it was more my mom and I attempting to see the sights and get an idea for what we were in for. This trip proved that we were in for MUCH more than we expected! :cloud9: Which was awesome!
So, after we got over the emotional twists and turns we headed over to Franck's.
The fountain in front...

The Doors...
IMG_3270.jpg

We walk in and are face to face with this...

IMG_3271.jpg

...and the only thing that my mom can say is, "I just want to put my finger through the side of that!" :rotfl2:
Now, you walk in and to your right is some girl sitting at a desk. She had the personality of a wet noodle. She said hello, but didn't ask much. At one point my mom told her we were going to have a wedding there in 2010. OK decent reason not to say much, but she just sat there. Other people walked in and she couldn't be bothered, and she wasn't doing anything. Weird.

Anyway, we walk around and saw a couple of cakes...

IMG_3276.jpg

This cake had both my and my mom's attention. The cake was beautiful. Unfortunately, cake is low on my list of must haves. So, I'm pretty content with choosing one of the stock escape cakes. (DF wants the silver mickey stamped one...what ever...I'm just going to eat it anyway)-However, this was a strong contender.
The one thing that caught my attention was the bouquet. I think I've written that I'm torn about the red rose thing. It's important to me, but doesn't give me a lot of options...ok no options. When I think about the reasons for using red roses I'm very happy with it and honestly, haven't found anything that is so amazing I have to have it and replace the red roses. So, I was pretty happy when I saw that they had an all red rose bouquet out for me to look at. I picked it up and was surprised that they were real! The next immediate thing I noticed was that they were heavy! I've heard brides mention their bouquets are heavy, but again I just think "Yeah how heavy can flowers be?" I guess this is one of those things you just don't realize until you get to the point where you are picking up your bouquet. I have to say, they are pretty heavy! So, of course I have to show my mom...

IMG_3278.jpg

Like everything else, she loved it!

We saw the rose wands...
IMG_3281.jpg

She mentioned that she wouldn't mind carrying that as her corsage/bouquet. I don't know how I feel about that tho...maybe with a smaller "wand." Don't know...Anyway, we lapped around the shoppe one more time and saw these!

IMG_3274.jpg

I told my mom, I've seen that invitation before and told her Heidi and Tom's story and remembered seeing their TR on Dis. (this photo doesn't do the invite justice, tho. Just more of my bad photography for the day...LOL)

That finished our trip there and then we headed back to the main building at GF. My mom was still amazed at the grounds, cleanliness, etc. When we got to the main building we looked at the main stair case...

IMG_3282.jpg

It's funny, you always see pics with the bride on the stairs...Hmmm...not so much. I actually giggled that it looked kind of boring without a bride on it :upsidedow

Then we were off to meet the boys...who didn't get to golf b/c the course driving range closed at 3! Oh well...next time...

Next up...Random stories about the rest of the trip...

WOW those cakes are to die for such great pics hun!!!

WOW! You saw our invitation! How exciting (for us!). We stopped by Franck's when we were on our honeymoon so I could show it to Tom. I don't think I get tired of it!

That is neat that they had a real bouquet. Red roses are beautiful, too!

It was very cool to see your invite. My mom looked at me like I had 2 heads when I said, "I know them!" Well, obviously not personally...but I had to explain that to my mom. Then she realized she had seen your pics! :goodvibes

Finally caught up!

I love taking photos of random details too! I think it's us trying to capture the feeling of the place. At Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen at DLR I took photos of the light fittings on the ceiling... :rotfl:

Ok, now I'm itchin' for some more! popcorn::

Do you notice how dirty the stairs look when a bride isn't standing on them . There they are in all their glory! LOL I never noticed it before.

Loving your PJ. Can't wait to see the whole thing from start to finish ;)

Hi! I never noticed the stairs before...You're right they do look dingey (sp?)

Ok where did I leave off...Random stories....Since that is the end of the real wedding stuff I have a few random stories from the trip and a couple of things I've learned along the way.

So, we meet the boys and get dinner in DTD. We go to random shops along the way and each time we get "Congratulations!" from CM's. Well, the only way I could get DF and my Dad to wear their buttons was to tell them they would get free stuff...Ok so not totally truthful on my part, but I WANTED TO WEAR THE DANG BUTTON AND I WANTED DF TO WEAR HIS TOO AND I'M ONLY GOING TO GET TO DO THIS ONE TIME IN MY LIFE. -So there. :rolleyes1 At this point DF points out that the only free thing he has gotten was embarrassment, but he was a good sport about it.
We went into The World of Disney, I got my wedding ears b/c I don't like the new ones and figure if I get my wedding ears now then at least I have the pair I want. (which I am wearing as I write this b/c hey...it's gonna be a year and half until I really get to wear them) I tried to get DF to try on the top hat...just for picture's and he said "Do you know how many people tries these on...gross." I did get him to put the hat up to his head but that was it. OK I guess I can understand that.
Finally, I ran in to get some post cards and after waiting in line for 20 + minutes a CM finally said I could go over to The Art of Disney check out...This is where a CM gave me these...
IMG_3290.jpg

Needless to say, there wasn't anything huge about wearing the buttons...but we did get a lot of congratulations and free stickers. LOL  DF got his embarrassment. I guess you get what you put into it...LOL

Anyway, the next morning I woke at 5:00...Way too early. I got showered and dressed and went to guest services to ask for free blank KTTW cards. (I wanted to use these for STDs-Borrowed idea from another Groom here on Dis) The CM behind the counter gave them to me and asked if I wanted more. We're only expecting 10 people 12 is plenty & I go back to the room. DF is awake and asks "Why did you only get 12?" Um b/c one per couple, one for the scrapbook and a couple in case we either come up with others to invite or mess one up. He comes back with "Well, everyone needs to get one b/c everyone at disney gets a KTTW card." Um...No, that's a waste. One per family. Not everyone needs a KTTW card. I finally give in and say I'll get more at port...but that doesn't happen...Whooops :rolleyes1 How many times to you have to tell your closest family members when we are getting married? :confused3

So, I finish getting ready for my day and I'm all dressed and ready to go. DF says, "You look like a tourist."
IMG_3292.jpg

Ok so maybe I do. I nix the wedding ears b/c according to DF I can't wear them yet...I'll give in...for now, but I keep the pin lanyard, and JE button. I ask him where his is and he can't find it. He doesn't know what he did with it. Great well I hope he doesn't loose his wedding band...:rotfl2: So, I explain that he'll just have to ask for another one.
We head off to guest services and we go up to this sweet little old lady and he explains how he lost his button and asks nicely for another one. She sympathetically says "did someone loose theirs?" and he replies yes. So she gave him another one. Poor DF. (Hey I took the ears off...the least he could do was wear the button...)

OK that's it for now...I have to take some pics and upload them.
Next up...You won't believe what DF got me...

It's too early in the morning to do any school work, my resume-other than a final proof read from career services is done, I still need to work out-which I failed miserably at yesterday, SO I thought I would write some more...
(Ok So, I give up...I have a HUGE case of Senioritis...Last semester of college and I'm fried...:rolleyes1 )

So, let's see...DF got his 2nd pin and we headed off to the gift shop at the POP. We were walking around. I found a frame that I love & bought it. We were randomly looking at things with really no rhyme or reason and DF says, "Come over here." So, I head his way. this is another one of the those moments where I thought "oh my god-we're getting married! And he's cool with this...ok be calm...don't do the happy dance around all these breakables" -ok so maybe it was the first time for that not doing the happy dance around breakables thing...but you get the point.
I get to his side and he says "Look." there was the wedding snowglobe and the wedding bobble heads. I was floored by the snowglobe, but really didn't need the bobble heads. They were cute but not my thing. DF said I could have both if I wanted them and that now would be the time to do it. :woohoo: I was in love with the snowglobe. So, he told me to go ask for one and handed me his reward card (I  DV) One thing a friend of mine taught be-if your DF/DH says "Do you need money say yes. If he hands you money don't tell him no. Save it if you need to, but always take it." :rolleyes1 Who was I to go against the rules??? :lmao: So, we purchased it, was congratulated 2 more times and had the globe mailed home.

IMG_3499.jpg

He also found a pair of the new Grooms ears-which he seemed to like better than the top hat (WORD OF WARNING I SAW LESS OF THE TOP HAT VERSION-just for those of you that like the old set better) Usually people post the front of the Grooms ears...Now, I'm not a huge fan of the new set...but the back is what is so dang cute!

IMG_0273.jpg

I love the tails! DF almost bought these-but realized that it probably wasn't a good idea b/c they wouldn't keep their shape between now and the wedding..but considered coming back when we get married to get them.:yay: I wasn't expecting that....cool.

We met up with my parents for breakfast and I showed my mom the snowglobe. She was very impressed. :cloud9: It was a great morning and all I could say was "Wow. I have the best DF in the world. Thank you for my snowglobe." Ok I'm a sap, but I am a sucker for the little things that he does. :cloud9:

Ok next up...getting on the ship:sail:

Sorry for the delay...I've got 53 days until graduation and I am really burnt out...Very glad that I decided NOT to go directly into a masters program. So, needless to say, very stressed and my activity on Dis isn't what it usually is :guilty: 53 days and I can do all the planning the world! but for right now...I have to concentrate on passing all my classes...

This journal will continue as soon as possible! :goodvibes
