Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

Aww, I'm so sorry you're going through this. You are not being a Bridezilla at all! I definitely agree that if your parent's are paying for the wedding the budget should not be used to pay travel costs for DF's family. If DF and you choose to pay for them out of your pocket that is one thing, but it's really not fair to your family to use the budget that way. I think if you want the Rolls, that is a pretty reasonable request, it's not like you are asking for the carriage which while beautiful is very expensive. I think once things cool down you should talk to DF. I know it can be frustrating, I am the Planner in our relationship too, and while I enjoy it for the most part it can be difficult and stressful. Your DF is just trying to think of your future and that is probably why he wants to be more frugal, I don't think he is trying to imply you can't plan the wedding effectively. I think if you explain to him your thoughts, he'll come around in the end. Hope things go well!

Pezaddict: thank you...

I just had dinner with my mom and she made a good point. DF wants to make sure that his family is at Disney for the wedding. Ok someone please tell me why I need my mother to translate. The thing is-is that if DF says this it is one thing...it's another to have to hear it from your mother (The ultimate humbling experience I feel like an ( l ) ) BUT DF has to say something.

He has spent the day being very nice.

I remembered on my 45 minute ride home WHY I want the Rolls and it is more than just a little girl fantasy. I want to have the limo dedicated to his family to pick them up and transport them to the WP. (NO, I didn't just make this up...I actually had it written down somewhere and was looking at my notes and found it) It is safe to say that DF's family will stay at the POP -which is fine...but to get to the WP (as far as I know and do not correct me! :rotfl:-Ignorance is bliss) Would be to take a bus to either the TTC or MK from MK take the boat to GF and then walk from the boat dock to the WP-which is no easy hike. (Ok easy but long) I wanted the limo to take our guests and for them not to have to worry about all the travel gussied up in their Sunday best.

Thank you girls for your support. It has meant a lot to me today.

So, I had a thought. DF has to send out the stone for his ring and order it. I was thinking about doing it for him. He has chosen a ring and has the stone. He just needs to send everything in...Should I offer? I guess my hesitation is that I've never fedex'ed anything much less a diamond and would not want anything to happen to it...The story to get the diamond to us was interesting enough. Any thoughts?

Bleh, that's something I'd hate to stuff up!
You could always offer... Maybe he'll turn down the offer and it will be one less thing to worry about :confused3

Sorry to hear you are going through this additional stress. Idea!

Since you want the Rolls Royce and he wants to pay for family members airfare....how about you get the Rolls Royce and he pays only a portion of the airfare? Not the entire ticket...family needs to have some accountability and pay at least part of the ticket? It's a compromise but both of you would come out with something you want. HTH :goodvibes

Which offer? Getting his ring...I don't think he'd have a problem with it.

Ok so this is a funny story...and wedding related...so even more worth a post...

When things were getting really serious about getting a ring, my mom and I made a Wedding Fund Jug (posted previously in this PJ) We had a great time doing it and it accumulated pretty quickly. *word of warning-it was a 10 gallon water cooler jug-getting dollars out of it was tricky...* This stayed at my parents house and we all contributed our change to it. DF did not know about it b/c I didn't want to look eager :rotfl:

At my apartment with DF we had a crayon bank that stood probably 2.5-3 feet tall. We contributed to that...minus our quarters b/c we needed those for laundry (although I did my best to stash mine in there as well as at my parents house...)

When we started talking about bumping up the wedding-we started counting it. My mom had a day off from work so we spent the day counting it up. :teacher: We rolled it :dance3: and counted it up...We didn't do too badly.

Then, I started counting the crayon bank money up at the apt. Mind you...it was full!!! :cheer2: I sorted it, counted it, rolled it and counted the rolls. Again, painful-but easy enough.

Half way through this adventure, I decided to get one of those coin counter roller bank deals. I figured $30 would be worth it. The first one we got couldn't count. So, I brought it back and get the more expensive one...That could count, but couldn't sort and was not accurate. We had had it an hour. I went to bring it back and could not find the flipping receipt...Anywhere. I panicked. DF and I searched everywhere. Retraced steps. Everything. It was no where to be found. I was getting upset and worried. I didn't want to be out the money for a piece of junk that did not work.:sad2: I go back out side and happen to look up at the road-for what ever reason and there is a very white piece of paper against the road across the street. IT WAS THE RECEIPT! Thanking everything thing under the sun...I took it back and continued the painstaking job of counting and rolling.

They used to make you write your name and phone number on the rolls. I had done that to about 1/2 of them. Well, I went to the bank today and asked if they needed my name and number on the rolls. The teller says "No, but you can use our coin counter over there in the corner." WHAT! :scared1: So, I told her that I had asked like a year ago and they didn't have one. She said it was new and that I could bring my coins in, the machine would give me a receipt and then from there I could bring the receipt to the teller and they would either deposit it or give me cash. SERIOUSLY! Oh not happy. All my work...for no reason.

So, I call DF who just laughs b/c honestly what else are you going to do! So, he says, "Go ahead and unroll them so your info isn't on them and then bring them it." I took 3 grocery bags of change to the bank. They weren't full but they had to be double bagged so they wouldn't break. When I walked in and asked the guy where the machine was...he got a good giggle out of it...and didn't even bother trying to help!

So, I put it in the machine and a few minutes later voila! I had my receipt. I bring it to the same teller that I worked with this morning....She just got a good chuckle out of it...

In short...DF's band is paid for.:cool1: In change...:lmao: but it's paid for...:rotfl2:

So, now it's back to filling the change jugs...Next time I think I'll shoot for an Alaskan Cruise *gasp* I know NOT Disney?!?!? We've always wanted to go on an Alaskan Cruise. It will take us awhile to save...but it was worth it in the end!

:lmao:

That is awesome!!! I'm glad you got it paid for after all your hard work! jeeze louise girl... you went through alot! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: That is awesome on all ends! What a hassle! That sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to me. :lmao: The good news is, it's paid for AND when you two go to cash in your change next time, you know what to do!

Yup! Paid for and yeah..watch...next time...I'll bring in a bunch of bags of change and I'll ask "Where is the change machine?" only to be told "Oh we got rid of it b/c it kept breaking." WATCH IT WILL HAPPEN!!! :rotfl2:

Aw what a cute story! Lol yay for paying with change! If we ever used Cash I would start saving too!

It's almost worth using cash! We've paid for a couple of big things in change. We paid for our first vacation to Niagara Falls in change! Hotel, gas money, food, all of it! :rotfl: It's fun to save and watch the bank fill up...

omgosh we do this too!! ours is one of those biiiig bottle looking things that I THINK had popcorn in it at one time (im not sure, it came with my husband haha) but anyways... we saved enough to pay for most of our honeymoon (however, when we actually deposited it, we found it best to pay off some bills). I once paid for a trip to the bahamas in all change and singles.

You know what else we did... we put a dollar a day in the jar. Now our jar is for either our one year trip to Jamaica, my best friends wedding next year, or our christmas fund. And after that (my plan) is saving for a disney cruise. I tell everyone to save change!! people probably think i am crazy! :rotfl:

I totally agree...it is so worth saving change! I'm pretty excited that he'll be able to get his ring with it...I love the dollar a day thing...I might have to start doing that.
All of the banks came with me to this relationship... :lmao:

So, I've been waiting..patiently...very patiently...but I'm like a kid that is waiting for the postman to bring me my Jack Pack-to the point where my mailman says "No, sorry not today." When he sees me. So, I emailed Jack Day tonight. I'm hoping I'll get his Jack Pack sooner than later!

it took me a while to get my jack pack... if i was home when my mail got delivered my mail man would know me by name too!! Never fear though because you will most definatly be getting it... when you do let me know which ceremony you chose! I love them all!

His email said that we should get it in the 6-20 days...That was (I think) July 13...but who is counting. I will continue to wait patiently. :)
