Pet Peeves?

What is your biggest pet peeve at DL???

Mine personally is when you are walking in a crowd (especially after fireworks or a parade) and you get your foot run over by a stroller or wheel chair and then they glare at you like you should have moved out of their way. I have all the respect in the world for the handicapped and people with children but a simple "excuse me" would suffice... But maybe thats just me...

But something I will never understand. Why do some women wear high heals in the parks? I can just imagine how much their feet must kill them within a few hours!

When you have been stood in a spot for ages waiting for a parade or fireworks and at the last minute people try to push in front of you. I don't mind little kids moving to stand in front of me to see better but I do object to their very tall dad trying to push me out of the way to stand with them.

Oh man... this is so dangerous to get me started on! Ok, call me selfish but people who have those triple wide strollers and then proceed to walk AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE really bug me. It becomes impossible to get around them and its so frustrating! Also, when people are walking in front of you and then simply stop to look at their map or something. That bugs me. OH!! And when people can't figure out the fastpass machines and decide to put their ticket in EVERY wrong way possible and then do that with 10 more passes! I always get behind them and then feel bad (imagine that!) if I think about changing lines. Ugh... Ok, I'm done! Phew!

When people don't move in line. There will be GIANT gaps inbetween them and the people in front of them. They are either clueless because they aren't paying attention, taking picture after picture, or not moving because they have a shady spot (like they should be the only ones to enjoy shady spots).

Drives me batty, and I will tell people go! LOL

While we are on the subject of lines ... I hate the line place holders. I don't mean the Dad who is in line while Mom was parking the stroller or changing the kids. I mean the one or two people who have been waiting in line for 20 min, just like you have, that are place holders for the 5 other people who went off to ride another ride. They come back and try to squeeze through the line to get with their friends who are "up ahead". I try not to let it bother me, but it makes DH crazy. So then we have the "just forget about it" converstaion for the rest of the line. If you really want to ride the ride with your friends, then wait in line like the rest of us!

I dont mean to sound anal retentive lol cause I really am not. My mom and I actually had this convo a few days back haha. So these are peeves of both her and me. Dont get us wrong we love the parks and the families that go. The parks are fantastic for families and people in general to spend time together. We keep our mouths shut in the parks as we are all there for the same reason. But we do have some pet peeves. I guess now is my chance to let it out.

4 pet peeves

1. High heels or skanky clothing in the park... Seriously what were they thinking. Even Posh Spice was spotted in Disneyland a few weeks back with her kids and she was wearing heels. I dont envy hers or others feet. And I am not sure what kind of attention some girls seek wearing short skirts and low cut tops. Its not like Prince Charming is going to come along and give you his phone number. Do they think they are the next big ride attraction or something hahahaha! Well maybe they are, but I think there really should be a dress code of some sort. Its horrible. There are little kids around.

2. The pushing and budging infront of you at the fireworks or fantsmic.... erk! Especially when you spent a great deal of time trying to hold your spot.

4. While your trying to make your way through the crowded park some one keeps pushing a stroller into the back of your legs and feet. I know the people with the strollers are trying to make their way too but its a bit irritating. Or when your trying to make your way through and there is a group of people in front of you who just stop and start talking, and then the others behind you start to push you cause they are trying to get around you, and you have to hold on to whoever you are with so you dont lose them in the crowd.

3. When its 10:30 or 11:00pm and your walking through the park or standing inline for a ride and there are little kids who are screaming and crying as they are tired or they are passed out cold in the stroller, and yet the parents still drag them around the park. I dont mean to be rude as chances are ive been at the park myself the whole day taking advantage of my expensive park ticket. But by that time its been a long day for myself, and I start getting a wee bit tired too (and I am an adult). I cant imagine how tired those little kids are. I just start to get angry over the fact that the last thing I need is to stand inline that late at night and listen to a screaming tired kid, or seeing the passed out child in the stroller while the parents talking about what they are going to do next. Those kids should be in bed.

My BIGGEST pet peeve (have only been to WDW but I am sure it is similar at both) is how some people (not all) jump in front of or cut off people in wheelchairs. Two glaring examples: 1. Waiting for an AK bus one moring 45 minutes passed until one got there. When one bus did people LITERALLY climbed over my brother in his wheelchair to get on - leavng him/us stranded. 2. Walking down main street towards the castle, a woman was going across, she looked right at him in the chair and still decided to cross right in front of him, as hard as he tried to stop in time (he has his own Quickie Wheelchair, not a rental. Stops well) he bumpped her some and she got mad and said a few choice words. We had to respond that she looked dead at him and she could have had some courtesy.

Another is people who skip lines. .. ugh!

I agree with you on the heelies thing. I don't think that DL allows people to roller skate or roller blade in the parks, but then again, maybe they do. I hate those darn skate shoes altogether. They should be banned!!!!!!!

Oh I know!! I mean seriously now! Those clothes can NOT be comfortable! It just makes them look stupid!

Oh, and I thought of one more. I think I might be a little over-peeved about this one but it bugs me to no end when people jump the ropes just to get to the end of the queue faster! It's like.. ooohhh you passed up a whole 4 people by cutting under the ropes instead of walking through the preset line. They'll get in the ride maybe 20 seconds faster because of it! It's pretty annoying even though it really shouldn't be!

Why does it really matter to you how other people dress? And why is it ok to automatically make a character judgment on someone because of the kinds of clothes that they wear?

Also, I think that most parents are capable of deciding when their kids should be in bed. Is it fair for older kids to have to leave the park when they are not tired because the littlest one is asleep in the stroller? Most kids can sleep just fine in strollers, it doesn't hurt anyone.

Mine would be the parents that allow the kids to hang, flip and swing on the bars in some of the lines. I say this because I saw a little girl on my last trip in 93 split her head open on the edge of a brick. She instantly had a goose egg abover her eye and just minutes before that I was saying to my friends "man those parents are brave". It was something I will never forget seeing....I hope her parents learned a lesson after that. Kids see no fear....it's the parents responsibility.

Oh my goodness -- people who just cut in line! What is up with that? We had been standing in line to get into the park (for about 1/2 hr) and this couple just gets in front of us. We were taking care of our baby and getting snacks for our other 2 and didn't notice at first. Then we realized they just walked up and got in front of us. I don't like to be confrontational or nasty at all-- but next time I definately think I would politely say "the back of the line is all the way back there and we've been waiting for 1/2 hr"!

Oh -- and about the sleazy clothes thing -- someone asked why the poster cared about what people wear. I just think sometimes when an outfit is absolutely so grotesque -- it is a shame. For the most part, I don't care at all what people wear. But sometimes people really cross the line. I mentioned in another post that I grew up in FL and at WDW people sometimes wore things that were completely inappropriate. I am not just talking about short shorts and skimpy tops. Sometimes these outfits just showed EVERYTHING. I think that's what the poster was talking about --those really extreme styles.

Ok, so this isn't exactly a pet peeve but my parents told me this story and it made me sooo mad!!

They were in the fastpass line for Indiana Jones and the old-ish (I don't know exactly how old they were but I know they were old enough to know better) couple standing in front of them got to the CM who takes your fastpass ticket before letting you into the actual building. She asked for their fastpass tickets and they were like, "ooohh.. we didn't realize that you needed fastpass tickets to get in this line!" Finally she let them go in and then as soon as they got in they were laughing and saying to each other, "That works every time!"

I was soo angry and I wasn't even there for it!!!! So I guess that goes under the category of taking advantage of CM's.

I need to put my 2cents in here about the sleazy clothing thing. I havn't been to DL in years so I'm sure sure I'll see what you posters are referring to. My thing is this...whether it be DL or the mall, both have families present and when you have young children around there are just some things that are better left unseen. I will never forget with my (then) stepdaughter that was 5 at the time made a comment about what a lady was wearing that her underwear was showing under her skirt. What on earth do you say to a kid that points this out to you?? A year later she's in the backseat of the car sounding out a bumpersticker with the F* word on it. I will never understand the lack of respect some people have for others. I could care less what people wear...but when it's a family place...ESPECIALLY somewhere like Disneyland...keep your body covered!

I hate it when you stand in line for an eternity with your child who is dying to get their pic or autograph with their fave character and parent's push their child ahead of yours. The worst ones are the people with no children and they push your child out of the way! The little tots I can see them rushing ahead they don't know any better but the older ones do!!!!!!!! I actually had a lady that "didn't speak English" push my 9 year old daughter out of the way to get her pic with Minnie Mouse. When she turned around she acted like "I'm foreign I didn't know" then I heard her say to her husband, "I told you I'd get my pic done fast, let's go." Nice.

Ya that happened to me and my sister waiting for the canoes... A huge ( I mean like 30 people huge) group of Asian tourist cut in front of us and when my sister confronted them they laughed and said they didn't speak english... I'm sorry but I don't think any culture regardless of your ethnic background condones rudeness...

Ah Yes...the line cutters, firework view spot crashers, sleazy dressers and clueless & dangerous stroller pushers. All extremely infuriating and annoying. After waiting over an hour for a decent view of the fireworks last month, a tall man with his toddler daughter on his shoulders stepped RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and I said rather loudly "NO! Please do not stand in front of me, I have been waiting here a long time". The man completely igonored me and DH was embarrassed, but I felt it needed to be said.

Also, the people who step on your toes and "push" ahead of you in line . As a recent toe surgery patient, I am paranoid of those (mostly unsupervised kids, sorry ), that stomp and run through lines. Parents often are oblivious and five minutes later will say "so-and-so!, get back here with us!". Sometimes they move ahead to where their kids are. That always gets to me.

And lastly, the ones who take non stop flash photos on a ride that they specifically state "no flash photos" - a perfect example of this is POTC. Happens way too often. Geesh!
